That distance is an approximate guide figure, not a guaranteed route measurement; terrain, detours and your exact departure point can change the trip.

- Travel toward the eastern coastline. Use Varnia as your regional reference point and head toward the Turquoise Rock Pools. If you are starting in Hernand, allow for a long trip; the guide’s approximate distance is 9,500 metres.
- Locate the southwest plateau. Once the pools are visible, move onto the raised ground southwest of them. The target is between Varnia and Trader’s Expanse, not inside either settlement.
- Defeat the Legendary White Lion and the pride. The lionesses attack alongside the legendary animal. Treat the encounter as a group fight rather than a single-target duel, and do not assume the main lion is the only hostile creature you need to manage.
- Skin the carcass. After the fight, interact with the White Lion’s body and choose the skinning action. The location guide says this awards the White Lion Necklace together with other animal materials. If you leave without skinning the body, the guide’s stated acquisition step has not been completed.
What to prepare for the encounter
Expect several attackers
The pride becomes hostile with the Legendary White Lion. The guide describes repeated, heavy attacks, so approaching the plateau with a plan for multiple enemies is more sensible than spending every resource on a rapid opening attack against the named lion. Keep the group in view, create room to recover when possible, and avoid letting the lionesses surround you while you focus on the larger target.
Carry recovery food
The location guide specifically recommends bringing plenty of food for recovery. This is guide advice, not a result of independent playtesting, but it is directly relevant because the route is remote and a failed attempt can mean another long journey. Put food where it can be reached quickly before you start the fight, and make sure you have enough for the entire trip rather than only the first engagement.
Do not rush the skinning interaction
Once the animals are down, confirm that the legendary carcass is the body you are interacting with. The necklace is tied to skinning the White Lion, while the other animals can provide different materials. If you open a loot or interaction prompt on another carcass, move back to the named lion before leaving the plateau.

Is a quest or hunt unlock required?
The available guides do not agree on a prerequisite. One guide says it is not aware of a tracking requirement, while another search result describes a quest unlock. No official item-specific page settles the contradiction, and the available patch notes do not add a requirement for this necklace.
For that reason, treat the prerequisite as unverified. If the White Lion is not present, check that you are at the correct plateau and that you are using the current game state before concluding that the item cannot be obtained. Then review your active quests and any hunt or tracking systems you have unlocked, because a quest gate is possible but not established by the sources available for this item. Do not assume that every player can reach the encounter immediately, and do not assume that a separate tracking quest is definitely mandatory.
White Lion Necklace stats and refinement
The item database lists the White Lion Necklace at refinement level +10 with +5 Attack and Critical Rate Level 4. Those are in-game equipment values, not real-world statistics. The same database includes a refinement table showing the stats increasing across upgrade levels, but the available entry does not provide a complete level-by-level breakdown that can be reproduced accurately here.

When the White Lion hunt is the right choice
Choose this route when you specifically want the White Lion Necklace, enjoy a remote hunt, or need the animal materials awarded from the carcass. The route has a clear landmark chain—eastern coast, Turquoise Rock Pools, southwest plateau—and the reward is tied to a defined field encounter rather than a random shop purchase.
Necklace of Lightning as a reported alternative
The location guide says the Necklace of Lightning can reach the same fully upgraded stats and is easier to obtain from the Eastern Court Strongbox in Demeniss. This comparison is guide-reported and has not been independently tested. If your only goal is the reported +10 performance, investigating that strongbox may save travel time; if your goal is the named White Lion item or its hunt, the alternative does not replace the plateau encounter.

Crafting through a Smith
The item database lists the necklace as craftable at a Smith using Abyss Cells and eligible Power Core items. The entry does not establish the exact quantities, the required Smith level, or when the recipe becomes available. Treat crafting as a possible late-progression option and verify the recipe, materials and station requirements in your own game before spending resources.
Buying from Omar
The same database lists Omar at the Varnia Equipment Shop as a seller. A database seller entry is not a guarantee that the item is stocked for every character or at every point in progression. Check Omar’s current inventory and any shop conditions in-game before planning around a purchase. If the necklace is unavailable, the White Lion route remains the directly described acquisition method.

You reached the coordinates but see no encounter
Confirm that your map position is X: 14348, Y: 4285 and that you are on the raised ground southwest of the Turquoise Rock Pools. The coordinates identify the database location, while the guide’s landmarks describe how to recognize the terrain. Being near the pools but at the wrong elevation can place you outside the encounter area.
The pride attacks but the necklace is not in your inventory
Revisit the carcass and perform the skinning interaction on the Legendary White Lion. Defeating the animals alone is not the complete procedure described by the guide. Check your inventory after the skinning animation or confirmation, and distinguish the named lion’s body from the lioness carcasses.
You are unsure whether progression is blocking the hunt
Because the sources conflict about a quest or tracking unlock, there is no confirmed universal prerequisite to quote. Review your quest log, hunt-related features and current version, then try the location again. Avoid treating an unverified search-result claim as a guaranteed rule.
You cannot survive the trip or fight
Plan the journey as a remote expedition. Pearl Abyss’s Version 1.05.00 patch notes, dated May 2, 2026, confirm a dated update but contain no necklace-specific note. None of these materials provides an attributable developer statement about the item, and the encounter instructions have not been independently tested here.
Those limits matter when you are deciding between the reported alternatives or diagnosing a missing spawn. The plateau location, the fight, and the skinning reward are the clearest practical route; quest gating, shop availability and exact crafting conditions should be confirmed against your current in-game state.
