Java players can use /seed; Bedrock players can check the world’s edit/options screen. For a Bedrock Realm, download a local copy and inspect its options.

The steps depend on your edition: in Java Edition, open the world and run /seed in chat; in Bedrock Edition, find the seed on the world’s edit/options screen. For a Bedrock Realm, you may need to download the world to your local worlds list before checking its options.

Find the seed in a Java Edition save

  1. Load the existing world.

  2. Open chat, enter /seed, and submit the command. Minecraft’s official snapshot announcement notes that players can copy the command’s output. Command availability can depend on permissions and server setup, so if the command is rejected, check the permissions for that world or server.

Find the seed in a Bedrock Edition save

  1. Return to the worlds list.

  2. Open the existing world’s edit/options screen and look for its seed field. Interface names and placement can vary by device and version; the seed is displayed there rather than retrieved with Java’s /seed command. This path is described by the community-maintained Minecraft Wiki seed reference.

The seed field is for viewing the seed of an existing world; the cited Bedrock reference says it cannot be edited after world creation.

Check the seed of a Bedrock Realm

If you cannot see the seed while playing on a Bedrock Realm, download the relevant world to a local copy and inspect that copy’s options. Minecraft Help explains how to download a Realm world through the Realms Hub and confirms that the downloaded world is added to your worlds list. The limitation on seeing a Realm seed while playing is reported by the community reference above; Minecraft’s download instructions establish the local-copy route, not that downloading itself reveals the seed.
