There is no single fix for a puzzle map that will not rotate: the game, platform, version, and input method determine what to check. First identify whether the map is an in-game puzzle object, a navigation screen, or a separate puzzle app. If you mean Myst, use the conditional checks below; its published fixes address specific historical issues, not every unresponsive map.
Start by identifying the game and input method
Before changing settings, note the game’s exact title and version, your platform, and how you are sending input. Also describe what “map” means in that game: a puzzle object you turn, an on-screen navigation map, or a map in a separate app. Those distinctions help separate an intended puzzle state from a control configuration or a software/device problem.
- Game and version: Record the title and version shown in the game or its launcher.
- Platform: Note the device or operating system, including whether you are playing in VR.
- Input: Identify touch, keyboard and mouse, controller, or VR hand tracking.
- Symptom: Say whether the map does not move at all, moves in the wrong direction, or responds to some inputs but not others.
The title alone does not establish a universal troubleshooting sequence. Avoid assuming that a general camera-turning control is the same as a puzzle object’s rotation.
If the game is Myst, distinguish the rotation problem
Myst has a Tower Rotation puzzle on Myst Island, a Fortress Rotation Simulator, and general camera turning. A fix for one is not necessarily relevant to the others.

Myst’s Tower Rotation puzzle
Cyan’s December 2020 patch notes say the update fixed the tower so it faces correctly when viewed from outside and added text to the tower-rotation painting. The notes also mention increasing controller stick dead-zone to help with drift during free-roam. These are specific, historical changes; they do not show that a current map-control problem has the same cause. See Cyan’s December 2020 Myst update notes.
Fortress Rotation Simulator and snap turning
Cyan’s January 2021 Quest notes separately list a fix for a misaligned fortress-rotation issue and an adjustment to snap-turn degrees so the turn more accurately reflects the selected amount. Snap turning changes the player’s or camera’s view; it should not be confused with rotating a puzzle object. See Cyan’s January 2021 Quest update notes.

If you are playing Myst Mobile on iOS
For general movement-input problems in Myst Mobile, check the control mode under Settings. Cyan describes two options: Virtual Gamepad Touch Controls, the default gamepad-like touchscreen controls, and Legacy Navigation Mode, which uses single-finger interaction similar to older Myst versions. The support article explains movement controls; it does not say that switching modes fixes tower-map rotation. Read Cyan’s Myst Mobile controls guide.

Cyan’s July 15, 2026 post identifies patch 3.3.0 for Myst (2020/2021). Its listed changes include an achievement fix and a key-icon display fix on certain Windows handhelds, but do not document a general fix for a puzzle map that ignores controls. Check the 3.3.0 update notes if that is your game and platform; for an unresolved, specific issue, consult official support rather than treating unrelated patch notes as a diagnosis.

Cyan directs Myst players to its FAQ portal first. If the FAQ does not answer the technical problem, its support page says players can email Cyan for further troubleshooting. For physical Myst editions published by Broderbund/Ubisoft, Cyan directs owners to Ubisoft Help. Include the game edition, platform, version, input method, and the exact puzzle or screen where input fails.
