Test one platform and one connection path at a time; avoid V3 Pro reset or firmware instructions, which are not verified for the V4 Pro.
First identify where the connection is failing
“Not connecting” can mean different things: the controller shows no sign of power, the console or PC does not detect it, the connection drops, or the controller is detected but does not work in a game. Note which symptom you see before changing settings.
- Is the host an Xbox or a Windows PC? If it is a PC, note the Windows version.
- Are you testing with a cable or wirelessly? Record the actual wireless method in use rather than assuming it is Bluetooth.
- Does the controller power on, and does the host show the controller or its receiver?
- Does the fault occur with both wired and wireless connections, or only one?
Razer’s Wolverine V4 Pro product FAQ confirms compatibility with Xbox and PC. It does not provide a detailed connection-recovery procedure, so the checks below are low-risk ways to isolate the problem, not manufacturer-prescribed V4 Pro fixes.
Check power, cable, and USB port
- Connect the controller using its intended cable and check that both ends are firmly seated.
- If the controller needs charging, allow it to charge, then check whether it powers on.
- Connect directly to another USB port on the Xbox or PC, rather than through a hub.
- If available, try a known-good USB cable that supports data. A charging-only cable may provide power without carrying data, so charging alone does not prove that a wired connection is working.
If the controller does not power on with the intended cable, or the host does not detect it using more than one direct port and a known-good data cable, test on another compatible host if possible. That comparison can help distinguish a host or port issue from one involving the controller or cable; it does not establish a definitive cause.

Test wired and wireless connections separately
Disconnect the controller, restart the Xbox or PC, and test one connection method at a time. Do not treat a successful wired test as proof that wireless pairing is configured correctly—or a failed wireless test as proof that the controller itself is faulty.
- Wired works, wireless does not: Focus on the wireless instructions in the V4 Pro manual or current Razer support page. If your setup uses an included receiver, make sure it is present and connected. Use the V4 Pro-specific instructions for any pairing steps; do not guess a button sequence.
- Wireless works, wired does not: Recheck the cable and direct USB port, and try a known-good data-capable cable. The result points toward the wired path but does not identify a failed component by itself.
- Neither method works: Repeat the tests on another compatible host if possible. If the issue occurs on multiple hosts, the controller, cable, or receiver may be involved; if it is limited to one host, its port or configuration may be involved.
PC-only checks
First confirm whether the controller is connected by USB or whether the setup actually uses Bluetooth. Do not apply Bluetooth troubleshooting to a different wireless connection method.

- Install available Windows updates and relevant host-device drivers through their official channels.
- Check whether Windows lists the controller or receiver in its device listings. Note what appears and whether it changes when you connect or disconnect the device.
- If Bluetooth is the connection route, follow Microsoft’s Windows Bluetooth troubleshooting steps. Microsoft advises checking that Bluetooth is available and enabled, confirming device power and range, restarting the device, running the Bluetooth troubleshooter, and updating the Bluetooth adapter driver.
Use V4 Pro-specific support for reset or firmware steps
Check Razer’s current Wolverine V4 Pro product and support information or contact Razer for any model-specific reset, pairing, or firmware recovery procedure. Do not run the Wolverine V3 Pro firmware updater as a V4 Pro fix: that updater is identified for the different V3 Pro model, RZ06-0520. Stop if an updater does not explicitly identify the V4 Pro.

Contact Razer support or the seller about next steps if the controller remains inoperative after the cable, power, port, and host checks, or if it is not detected across multiple compatible hosts. Also seek support if there is visible physical damage. Have your platform, connection method, Windows version if relevant, and the results of each test ready; those details help narrow down the fault. Warranty or return eligibility depends on your purchase and circumstances.
