If your Roblox character will not move, first join a different experience. If movement works there, the issue is likely limited to the original experience; if it happens in several experiences, troubleshoot Roblox and your device. Try the steps below one at a time so you can tell what changes.
First, check whether the problem is in one experience or several
- Leave the experience and rejoin it.
- Join a different experience and test whether your character can move.
If movement works in another experience, the original experience is the leading place to investigate. Roblox notes that an experience can have a problem such as a bad script and may need its creator to repair it. This test points you toward the likely source; it does not prove what caused the problem. Report the issue to that experience’s creator.
If your character will not move in multiple experiences, continue with the troubleshooting steps for your device.
Refresh Roblox and your device
Close Roblox completely, open it again, and rejoin the experience. If the problem remains, restart your device. Roblox recommends these basic refresh steps across its desktop, Android, and iOS troubleshooting guidance.

Try the steps for your platform
Windows or Mac
- Restart your computer, then open Roblox and test again.
- Clear temporary browser files if you use Roblox through a browser.
- Check that your firewall or security software allows Roblox. Do not disable protection broadly; review the specific Roblox permission or block.
- If the issue continues, uninstall and reinstall Roblox.
Roblox lists temporary files, firewall restrictions, and corrupted Roblox files as possible sources of general desktop problems. These are troubleshooting options, not confirmed causes of a character that will not move.
Android
- Close Roblox and reopen it; restart the device if needed.
- Check for Roblox and Android updates.
- If the issue remains, clear Roblox app data or reinstall the app.
- Check that the device’s date and time are correct.
Clearing app data or reinstalling can reset app state and may require you to sign in again. Make sure you can access your account before taking either step.

iPhone or iPad
- Force-close Roblox, reopen it, and test the experience again.
- Restart the device.
- Check for updates to Roblox and iOS.
Check for connection or security problems
If the experience also loads incompletely or shows other signs of connection trouble, check whether your internet connection is stable. Roblox’s connection guidance suggests ruling out wireless connection problems where possible and reviewing firewall settings. Security software, browser security settings, or browser add-ons can also interfere with related Roblox activity. Check whether Roblox is permitted rather than turning off security protection entirely.
An avatar appearing on screen does not by itself prove that the experience is working correctly. If the character remains unresponsive, use the one-experience-versus-many test and continue troubleshooting.

When to contact the creator or Roblox Support
- Only one experience is affected: report the issue to that experience’s creator, since an experience-specific problem may need to be fixed by its creator.
- Several experiences are affected: contact Roblox Support if the platform-specific steps do not help.
When contacting Support, include your username, the device and model, operating system version, the experience name, any exact error message, and steps that reliably reproduce the issue. Note whether it happens in one experience or several and what you tried. Roblox’s connection guidance advises moving to the next solution if one does not work.
