If your YouTube 24/7 stream appears to restart whenever a service switches videos, first find out whether YouTube ended the live event or the same event stayed up while its picture briefly cut out. If the service log shows an encoder stop and start at the transition, investigate the service’s switching or session mode before changing your stream key or network setup.
First determine what “restarts” means
A visible interruption does not by itself show that YouTube ended the event. Check the watch page, Live Control Room, and service activity log around one video transition. Record the time and compare what each reports.
- A new event appears or the old one is marked ended: the YouTube event may have ended and a new one started.
- The same event remains active but the feed or preview blanks or drops: investigate the media handoff, encoder, source, or connection.
- Only one viewer reports a problem: check playback on another device and network before changing the broadcast setup.
These checks help distinguish event lifecycle from a feed interruption; the event interface may not expose every detail of the incoming feed.
Work through the likely causes in order
1. Check whether the switching service stops its output
Look in the service’s settings, documentation, or activity log for how it handles a video transition. The important distinction is whether it switches media inside one continuously running encoder output or stops and restarts—or recreates—the encoder session. If its log shows a stop/start at the same time as each YouTube event restart, ask the provider how to switch videos without stopping the outgoing YouTube session.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The service is not identified here, so there is no vendor-specific setting that can be named as the fix. YouTube’s encoder instructions describe connecting an encoder to YouTube, not how a third-party service implements playlist transitions. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains the connection process.
2. Verify the destination and stream key only if there is a configuration or startup problem
Confirm that the service has the intended YouTube server URL and stream key. YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address”; a reusable custom key can be set up in Live Control Room. If YouTube or the encoder reports a startup or key error, follow the relevant steps in YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guide. A video transition alone is not a reason to reset a key. Treat the key as a credential and never send it to support or publish it.

3. If the event stays up, inspect the feed and encoder
Check the encoder or service dashboard for errors at the transition. Review source routing, CPU load, and any local recording or archive around that timestamp. Also test the outbound connection. YouTube notes that if the encoder’s feed appears healthy but viewers report problems, the outbound connection may be involved; reports limited to one viewer or a shared network may instead be local to those viewers. See YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance.
4. Try network changes only when connection evidence points there
OBS says dropped frames can indicate an unstable route or a bitrate beyond what the connection can sustain, and notes that Wi-Fi can be unstable for streaming. If the encoder uses Wi-Fi or diagnostics show instability, test with wired Ethernet and check whether the connection can sustain the configured bitrate. Lowering bitrate may help diagnose a capacity problem. Neither a cable nor a bitrate change will fix a service that deliberately stops its output or creates a new event at every switch. See OBS connection troubleshooting.

5. Send support evidence that identifies the failure
Contact the switching service if its logs show a transition-related stop/start or YouTube event recreation. Provide the affected event URL, transition timestamps, event-status screenshots or exports, relevant service activity logs, and encoder error information. Say whether the same YouTube event survived. Never include the stream key. If the event persists but the encoder or incoming feed is unhealthy, investigate the encoder and connection first; involve your network provider if outbound connectivity is the problem.
What YouTube’s event lifecycle documentation does—and does not—establish
YouTube’s setup guidance connects the encoder through a Live server URL and stream key. Its instructions say to end a stream by stopping the content sent from the encoder, and say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That makes it useful to check whether the service stops sending content and to inspect event and archive history. It does not establish that every brief feed gap ends an event, or that a reusable key alone preserves one watch-page event through arbitrary encoder restarts. See encoder setup, stream settings, and troubleshooting.
