Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf your YouTube Live stream ends when an OBS video finishes, first check the source’s repeat setting: turn on Loop for a Media Source, or Loop Playlist for a VLC Video source. These make the video play again; YouTube’s auto-stop setting determines what happens to the broadcast when OBS stops sending video.
Check which OBS source is playing the video
OBS has two relevant source types, and each has its own repeat control. Identify the source in the Sources list before changing settings.
| OBS source | Use it for | Repeat setting | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Media Source | A single video file | Loop | No additional requirement stated in the OBS guide |
| VLC Video | A playlist of media files | Loop Playlist | VLC must be installed; 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC |
OBS documents Media Source’s Loop option as off by default. Its VLC Video guide lists Loop Playlist as on by default, but check the actual setting if a playlist stops.
Make one video repeat with Media Source
- In OBS, select the Media Source that contains the file.
- Open the source’s Properties.
- Enable Loop.
- Apply the change and watch the source through the end of the clip. Confirm it starts again from the beginning.
The Loop option repeats the file after playback completes. If it is off, the source stops playing that file at its end. That explains why the video disappears or stops moving, but does not by itself establish exactly why a particular YouTube broadcast ends; that also depends on the stream’s behavior and settings.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Make a playlist repeat with VLC Video
- In OBS, select the VLC Video source and open its Properties.
- Check the playlist and enable Loop Playlist if it is off.
- Apply the change and confirm playback returns to the beginning of the playlist after the last item.
VLC Video requires VLC to be installed. If you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC as specified by OBS.
Do not confuse “Show nothing when playback ends” with Loop
Show nothing when playback ends hides the Media Source when its file completes. It does not replay the video and is not a stream-stop control. Use Loop when you want the file to repeat; use the visibility option only when you want the source to disappear after playback.

Check YouTube’s stream behavior
YouTube’s encoder help says, “To end the stream, stop sending content from your encoder.” For a scheduled stream, YouTube instructs the operator to click End Stream in Live Control Room and stop sending content from the encoder. This is why a source reaching its end and a broadcast ending are related but distinct events: OBS playback controls whether the clip repeats, while YouTube’s stream settings govern what happens when encoder video stops.
In YouTube Live stream settings, auto-start and auto-stop allow the operator to start or stop streaming from the encoder. The YouTube Live Streaming API describes auto-stop for API-managed broadcasts more specifically: YouTube automatically ends the broadcast around a minute after video stops arriving on the bound live stream. That timing is stated for API broadcasts; do not assume it applies identically to every stream setup. Check the actual stream’s Live Control Room settings.

Troubleshoot in this order
- Confirm the source type. Determine whether the file is in a Media Source or a VLC Video source.
- Check the matching repeat option. Use Loop for Media Source or Loop Playlist for VLC Video, then test through the end of the file or playlist.
- Check visibility separately. If the Media Source disappears, verify whether Show nothing when playback ends is enabled; it hides the source but does not make it loop.
- Inspect YouTube auto-stop. In Live Control Room, review the stream’s actual auto-stop configuration. If the broadcast should stop when encoder content stops, auto-stop is relevant. If it should remain available for reconnection, verify the stream’s setting and current YouTube interface.
- If the symptom persists, collect setup details. Record your OBS version, operating system, source type, YouTube auto-stop state, and an OBS log. The symptom alone does not identify whether the issue is a disabled loop, YouTube behavior, or a setup-specific problem.
