Each has a different fix. For an upcoming livestream, start at YouTube Studio > Content > Live > Upcoming, then check the event in Live Control Room > Manage.
Identify what went missing
YouTube separates livestreams from ordinary scheduled video uploads. In Studio’s Live tab, livestreams are grouped as Live Now, Upcoming, and Live Replay. Scheduled uploads appear in the regular Content list and use Visibility scheduling controls.

Find the scheduled livestream in Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and select Content, then Live.
- Open Upcoming and look for the event. Confirm that it is the intended stream and check its date, time, and timezone.
- Alternatively, open Live Control Room and select the Manage tab, then choose the scheduled event.
- If you need to create or select an encoder event, the documented route is Studio > Create > Go Live > Manage > Schedule stream.
YouTube’s Live tab includes current, upcoming, and past streams, and scheduled streams can be selected from Manage. If the event is not in either place, note exactly what Studio shows before trying to recreate it; general YouTube Help does not identify one cause for every missing event. If viewers cannot see the event
Check the event’s visibility setting. YouTube supports public, private, and unlisted videos and streams. A public item can appear on the channel and in search. A private item is limited to its owner and people the owner selects. Share the event link with a viewer to check whether they can access it directly.

A public scheduled stream may appear in subscribers’ feeds as upcoming with a “Notify me” option, but YouTube does not guarantee a particular feed placement. If the event is unlisted or private, viewers may not discover it through public channel or search surfaces. YouTube: Change video privacy settings.
If the encoder connects but the broadcast does not start
- In Live Control Room, confirm you have selected the intended scheduled event.
- Check that the encoder is sending to that event’s stream URL and stream key, not credentials for another event.
- Start the encoder and wait for the preview to appear in Live Control Room.
- When the preview is present and the event is ready, select Go Live.
YouTube’s live-streaming tips recommend checking access from both the channel and watch pages, testing on mobile, monitoring audio and video, and confirming that your local archive file is growing. If the preview still does not appear or viewers cannot access the event, record the exact Studio status and encoder error message; YouTube’s general guidance does not establish a single fix for every encoder failure. If a scheduled ordinary video did not publish
This is an upload scheduling issue, not a livestream event issue. In YouTube Studio, open Content, select the video, and inspect Visibility and its scheduled publish time. A scheduled video is set to private until the specified time.
YouTube documents a specific exception: if an account has a Community Guidelines strike, a scheduled video will remain unpublished during the penalty period and must be rescheduled after the freeze period. This documented restriction concerns scheduled video publishing; it does not establish the cause of a livestream hidden from viewers.

The date on a video’s watch page can differ from the date shown in Studio because YouTube bases the watch-page date on Pacific Standard Time. This can affect uploads or scheduled publication times in timezones ahead of PST; the date difference by itself does not show that the video failed to publish. YouTube: Schedule video publish time.
If the livestream replay is missing
- Open YouTube Studio > Content > Live > Live Replay.
- Find the event and check the archive’s visibility. You can change archive visibility from the Content area.
- If you cannot find an archive, check the stream duration and whether you have a local recording.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. The under-12-hour threshold is not a guarantee that every replay will appear immediately. YouTube recommends recording a local archive as a backup. YouTube: Archive live streams.
