You schedule individual videos—not playlists—in YouTube Studio. For each video, switch to the channel that should publish it, set its date, time, and timezone in the Schedule card, then add it to the right playlist and check the playlist’s order separately. Repeat for every video and channel.
What YouTube scheduling does—and does not do
YouTube’s scheduled publishing makes a private video public at a chosen date and time. The playlist workflow is separate: it manages a playlist’s visibility, membership, and order. YouTube’s documentation does not describe scheduling a playlist itself or automatically assigning new uploads to a playlist. Plan the channel, video, and playlist for each release
Before uploading, make a simple release list with one row per video. Record the destination channel, video title or draft, intended playlist, publication date, time, and timezone. If several people coordinate releases, an external calendar or spreadsheet can make assignments visible; it does not publish videos or control YouTube playlists.
Choose a cadence your team can sustain. YouTube’s creator guidance recommends weighing frequency, consistency, production time, and content volume rather than assuming a particular posting frequency will improve reach. YouTube Help: Upload schedule tips – Video

Schedule each video on its owning channel
- Switch to the correct channel. In YouTube, open the profile menu, choose Switch account, and select the channel that owns the video. Verify the channel name and icon before changing anything. One Google Account can manage up to 100 channels, but YouTube says only one channel is used at a time. YouTube Studio App Help Center: Switch between channels on a Google Account – Computer
- Open the channel’s Studio. Go to YouTube Studio and upload the video, or open the existing draft from Content. Fill in the video details and check that you are still in the intended channel.
- Set the release time. In the video’s visibility settings, choose Schedule. Set the publication date, time, and timezone, then confirm the schedule. YouTube schedules a private video to go public at that time. Use the timezone displayed in the scheduler rather than assuming it matches your computer’s local time.
- Add the video to its playlist. In the video details, select the intended playlist and save the change. Alternatively, manage the playlist from YouTube Studio > Content > Playlists; YouTube’s playlist tools allow videos to be added from search, a URL, or the channel’s library.
- Verify membership and order. Open Content > Playlists, select the relevant playlist, and check its visibility, video membership, and order. Reordering playlist entries does not change the videos’ scheduled publication times.
- Repeat for every release. Switch to the next channel and repeat the checks. Do not assume the previous channel remains the right destination just because the accounts share one Google login.
Check the schedule after changes
- Confirm the active channel, scheduled date and time, timezone, visibility, and playlist membership for each video.
- If the public watch page shows a different “Published on” date from Studio, YouTube says the public date is based on Pacific Standard Time; a date difference does not necessarily mean you scheduled the wrong local day. YouTube Help: Schedule video publish time
- A Community Guidelines strike penalty period can prevent scheduled publication. During the penalty, the video remains private; after the freeze ends, reschedule it. Check the channel’s policy status if a scheduled release does not go public. YouTube Help: Schedule video publish time
- YouTube’s playlist documentation describes a daily limit for creating public playlists. If you encounter a limit, avoid repeatedly recreating playlists; keep the existing playlist and review the current limit guidance in YouTube Help. YouTube Help: Manage playlists in YouTube Studio
When Content Manager is relevant
YouTube Studio Content Manager can support management of linked channels, but it is available only to partners who use Content Manager. It is not a general cross-channel playlist scheduler, so most creators should use the channel-by-channel Studio workflow above. YouTube Help: Manage channels in Studio Content Manager
