Sportsbet access is usually denied for one of five reasons: you are outside Australia, your device cannot provide an approved Australian location, a VPN is active, stale browser data is breaking the session, or your account is under a verification or security review. Follow the checks below in order. Do not use a VPN as a workaround: Sportsbet states that its service will not be accessible on a device using a VPN.
Start by identifying which restriction you have
The wording and the device you are using point to different fixes. A message about a “restricted territory” is primarily a location or eligibility issue. A normal sign-in page that rejects credentials, fails to load, loses your session, or shows missing odds is more often caused by browser data, the app environment, or an account review.

1. Confirm that you are physically in Australia
Sportsbet’s Australian service is intended for people located in Australia. Someone genuinely outside Australia cannot access, operate, or transact on that service simply by changing a browser setting. That is a licensing and territory restriction, not a fault that can be repaired with cache cleaning.

- Do not attempt to disguise your location with a VPN, proxy, GPS-spoofing app, or a similar service.
- Do not repeatedly submit logins from changing locations; unusual access patterns can create an additional security review.
- If you need account information or an allowed transaction from abroad, use Sportsbet’s official customer-support route and explain where you are. Availability of account services depends on Sportsbet’s policy for your location.
If you are in Australia but the site says you are restricted
Proceed to the location-permission checks before changing anything else. A phone can be physically in Australia while the Sportsbet app is denied location access, limited to an approximate position, or prevented from refreshing its location after a network change.

2. Give Sportsbet precise location access
Location permission is the documented fix for an Australian customer who receives the restricted-territory message. Enable the system location service, permit Sportsbet to use it while the app is active, and select precise rather than approximate location where that option is offered.
iPhone and iPad
- Open Settings, then Privacy & Security and Location Services.
- Turn Location Services on if it is off.
- In the app list, select Sportsbet.
- Choose While Using the App (or the closest available permission that allows use while the app is open).
- Turn Precise Location on.
- Close Sportsbet completely, reopen it, and try the page or sign-in again.
Android
- Open Settings, then Location, and make sure the device location switch is on.
- Open the app-permission screen (the wording is commonly App permissions or See all apps), select Sportsbet, and allow location only while using the app or the equivalent permitted option.
- If Android presents an Use precise location control, enable it.
- Force-close Sportsbet, launch it again, and retry.
Refresh the location service once
If permission was already correct but the restriction remains, switch the device’s Location Services off, wait a few seconds, switch it on again, and retry Sportsbet. This refreshes the permission and location state without changing your account. Keep the app open long enough for the new position to be obtained; indoor reception, battery-saving restrictions, or a recently changed network can delay that update.
Do not keep toggling permissions repeatedly. If the same message appears after a single refresh while you are clearly in Australia, continue with the VPN and browser checks, then contact support if the account itself is being restricted.
3. Turn off every VPN before retrying
Sportsbet’s stated rule is direct: “Sportsbet will not be accessible on a device using a VPN.” The VPN may be running as a standalone app, a browser extension, a security suite feature, a work profile, or a router-level service. Even when the exit server is in Australia, the connection can still be identified as a VPN connection.

Disable it at each possible layer
- Open your VPN app and disconnect. Quit the app if it reconnects automatically.
- Check the operating system’s VPN settings and remove any always-on or on-demand connection.
- Disable VPN or proxy extensions in the browser you are using for Sportsbet.
- If your home router or workplace network provides the VPN, switch temporarily to an ordinary local connection, such as mobile data, only if that connection is permitted and available to you.
After disconnecting, close every Sportsbet browser tab or force-close the mobile app. Reopen it on the ordinary connection and test again. Do not present a VPN as a bypass for the Australian territory rule; it is specifically listed as a condition that prevents access.
4. Clear Sportsbet cookies and cached files
Sportsbet identifies old cookies and cached files as a common cause of loading failures, correct credentials being rejected, missing pages or odds, bet slips that do not load, and mobile users being logged out while moving through the site. Clearing the site data removes the damaged session so Sportsbet can create a fresh one.
Chrome on a computer
- Open Chrome’s menu and choose Settings.
- Open Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies or Cookies and other site data, depending on the version.
- Open the option to see all site data, search for Sportsbet, and remove the matching entries.
- Close all Sportsbet tabs, reopen the browser, visit Sportsbet again, and sign in.
If your Chrome version presents a site-information control beside the address bar, you can also open that control, choose the site-data or cookies option, remove the Sportsbet entries, and reload.
Safari on iPhone or iPad
- Close the Sportsbet tab.
- Open Settings and choose Apps, Safari, then the option to clear history and website data (the exact grouping varies by iOS release).
- Confirm the removal, reopen Safari, and sign in again.
Clearing Safari data can sign you out of other websites. If you want to limit the effect, use Safari’s website-data screen to remove only Sportsbet when that control is available on your iOS version.

Firefox
- Open the Firefox menu and choose Settings.
- Go to Privacy & Security, find Cookies and Site Data, and open Manage Data.
- Search for Sportsbet, remove its stored data, confirm, and restart Firefox.
- Open Sportsbet and authenticate again.
Android browser or app session
For a browser, use its privacy settings to remove Sportsbet’s cookies and cached files, then restart the browser. For the Android app, open the system app settings for Sportsbet and use the available cache-clearing control first; avoid clearing storage unless you are prepared to sign in and configure the app again. The labels differ by Android manufacturer.
What to expect after clearing data
- You will normally be signed out and must enter your credentials again.
- Saved preferences held only in the browser may reset.
- A clean session should restore page loading, odds and bet-slip rendering when stale data was the cause.
- If the same error appears immediately on a second browser and a normal connection, the problem is less likely to be local browser data.
5. Check whether Sportsbet has restricted your account
An access denial can be an account-state issue rather than a device problem. Sportsbet lists failed identity verification, outdated or incorrect personal details, safer-gambling checks, and suspicious activity as reasons an account may be suspended or placed under review.
Identity verification or personal details
Look for an email, in-app notice, or sign-in prompt asking you to verify your identity or update information. Do not create a second account to avoid the request. Contact Sportsbet through live chat with identification ready, following the instructions shown for your account. Check that your name, date of birth, address, and other requested details are current and entered exactly as required.

If the notice relates to safer-gambling checks, use the phone-support channel Sportsbet lists for that purpose. The restriction may not be removable through browser troubleshooting, and repeatedly attempting logins will not replace the required conversation or review.

Suspicious-activity review
For a security or suspicious-activity notice, use Sportsbet customer support and follow its verification instructions. Keep the account email, the time the problem began, the exact message, and any reference number available. Never send a password or one-time security code in response to an unsolicited message.
How to tell an account issue from a browser issue
- Try the same account on a second supported browser after disabling VPN software and clearing Sportsbet data.
- If both browsers show the same suspension or verification notice, treat it as an account review.
- If another account or a logged-out page loads normally on the same device, that also points toward the account rather than the connection.
- Do not ask someone else to use your credentials; account sharing can create additional security questions.
6. Verify the Android app requirements
Sportsbet lists two relevant Android requirements: Android 5.0 or newer and an Australia Google Play country setting. A phone can be physically in Australia yet fail the app check if its Play country is set elsewhere or the operating system is too old.
- Open Settings and check the Android version under About phone or the device-information section. Update the system if an official update is offered; the listed minimum is Android 5.0.
- Open Google Play, enter the account settings, and check the country or region. Sportsbet lists Australia as the required Google Play country for the Android app.
- Update Sportsbet from Google Play if an update is offered.
- Restart the phone, confirm Location Services and precise permission, then open Sportsbet on a connection with VPN disabled.
Google Play country changes are controlled by Google and may not be immediately available or freely switchable. Do not repeatedly change the country just to test access. If the account’s Play country is incorrect, use Google’s account-support process; Sportsbet cannot change that store setting for you.

Sportsbet states that access in New Zealand ended on 1 July 2025. Customers there cannot use the account normally after that date. This is a dated territory policy, not an indication that your browser, phone, or location sensor is broken.

If you are in New Zealand and need withdrawals, an activity statement, or an account update, call Sportsbet using the support details it provides. A VPN, Australian-looking IP address, or location-spoofing method is not an appropriate substitute for the stated support process.
8. A clean retry sequence
Use this order when you want to avoid changing several variables at once:
- Write down the exact error wording and whether you are using a browser or the Android app.
- Confirm your physical country. If you are outside Australia, stop treating the message as a browser fault.
- Disable VPN, proxy, and browser VPN extensions.
- If you are in Australia, enable Location Services for Sportsbet, allow use while the app is active, and enable precise location.
- Close Sportsbet completely and reopen it on the ordinary local connection.
- Clear Sportsbet cookies and cache in the browser, or clear the app cache on Android.
- Check Android 5.0-or-newer and Australia Google Play requirements if you use the Android app.
- Read any verification, safer-gambling, or security message and use the support route assigned to that issue.
- When contacting support, provide your account email, country, device and browser/app version, the time of the failure, and the exact wording. Do not include your password.
When the problem is not fixable on the device
If you are in Australia, have precise location enabled, have no VPN active, have refreshed the app or browser session, and still receive a territory or account restriction, the remaining cause may be Sportsbet’s location decision or an account review. At that point, further cache clearing is unlikely to help. Use live chat for identity or personal-detail problems, the listed phone support for safer-gambling matters, and customer support for suspicious-activity cases. Keep screenshots of the message and note the troubleshooting steps already completed so support can investigate without repeating them.
