These steps can rule out common causes, but they are not a guaranteed fix for every crash.
Start with the exact symptom
Note whether Steam displays an error code, the game opens and immediately closes, or launch stops during Steam account linking. NC’s game-specific instructions cover error 1138:100134; they do not establish a fix for silent exits or other codes. If the problem is that the game will not connect, check current Steam notices and official AION 2 announcements for maintenance before treating it as a local PC issue. NC says AION 2 service launched on October 5, 2026, but service availability can still be affected by maintenance. Check the official AION 2 site and Steam listing.
Fix Steam error 1138:100134
- Close the game and Steam.
- Run Steam as an administrator. In Windows, right-click the Steam shortcut and choose Run as administrator. If Windows asks for confirmation, approve it.
- Launch AION 2 again from Steam.
- If the same error returns, submit a request to NC Customer Service. This administrator-and-relaunch instruction is NC’s specific recommendation for this error, in a support article dated September 23, 2026. Read NC’s error 1138:100134 guidance.
Troubleshoot other launch failures
If you do not see 1138:100134, use these general Steam troubleshooting steps in order. They can help isolate common causes, but no universal fix for every AION 2 crash is established.
Restart the PC and update Windows and drivers
Restart Windows, then install available Windows updates and updates for your computer’s drivers, including graphics drivers. Steam recommends these as general steps for games that fail to launch after “Preparing to Launch”; they are not AION 2-specific fixes.

Verify AION 2’s files
In Steam, open Library, right-click AION 2, choose Properties, then Installed Files and Verify integrity of game files. Let Steam complete the check, then try launching again. Verification checks the installed game files; it does not diagnose every possible Windows, driver, or account-linking problem.
Close nonessential background software
Exit nonessential programs temporarily and try launching again. Steam notes that software can interfere with games, but the available guidance does not identify one particular application as the cause for AION 2. Reopen anything you closed if it makes no difference.
Compare your PC with AION 2’s requirements
Steam publishes the following requirements for AION 2. They are compatibility guidance, not a guarantee that a system meeting them will launch without problems.

These are the published requirements on AION 2’s Steam listing; NC’s requirements FAQ was dated July 21, 2026. An SSD is recommended, not listed as a minimum, and upgrading storage is not established as a fix for a specific launch error. See NC’s requirements FAQ.

When to contact support
For persistent 1138:100134 errors, NC explicitly directs players to Customer Service after running Steam as administrator and relaunching. For another launch failure that remains after the general checks, give support the exact error or describe what happens, when it happens, and which steps you already tried. Those details make the report more useful, though they do not guarantee a particular diagnosis.
