If a Star Wars game will not launch, keeps crashing or freezing, or runs with low FPS or stutter, start with reversible checks: restart the game and device, check service status, then repair the game files on PC. For ongoing graphics problems, check for a suitable GPU driver update and test lower graphics settings. The right next step depends on the specific game, platform, and failure stage—there is no single fix for every Star Wars title.
First, identify where and how the game fails
Before changing settings, note the exact Star Wars game, platform and storefront, and any error text. Record whether it fails in the launcher, at the splash screen, while loading, or during gameplay; also note whether the issue began after a game, graphics-driver, operating-system, or launcher update. These details help distinguish a local installation problem from a graphics, account, connection, or platform issue.

- Launch or loading failure: Check service status and, on PC, consider repairing the installed files.
- Crash or freeze during play: Restart first; if it continues on PC, repair or verify the files before moving to more targeted diagnostics.
- Low FPS or stuttering: Check the graphics driver, then reduce graphics settings and retest if performance remains poor.
- Sign-in, download, or update trouble: Check EA and the platform’s service status before assuming the game installation is damaged.
EA’s support hubs organize help by title and issue, including crash and freeze, connection, DirectX, the EA app, and DxDiag topics. Use the hub for your specific game rather than applying instructions written for another title.
Try reversible checks first
- Close and relaunch the game. Exit fully rather than leaving it suspended or running in the background.
- Restart the device. Restart the PC or console, then try the game again.
- Check service status. If launching, signing in, downloading, or updating is affected, check EA and the relevant platform’s service status.
- On PC, close unnecessary background apps. This is a reasonable check if the game is slow, laggy, or having EA app connection trouble.
If the issue persists on a PC installation, repairing the local game files is a useful next step. A restart or service check cannot repair a damaged installation, and a file repair will not resolve every account, connection, or hardware issue.

Repair or verify the game files on PC
Missing or corrupted installation files can contribute to crashes, freezes, startup failures, and unexpected errors. Use the repair or verification option in the client where the game is installed; do not use a different storefront’s instructions.
EA app
- Open the EA app and select Library.
- Select the game’s tile menu (the three dots) and choose Repair.
- When the repair finishes, restart the PC and launch the game again.
This is EA’s documented path for STAR WARS Zero Company. The EA app’s interface can change, and menu labels or availability may differ for another game or client.

Steam or Epic Games Store
Use the storefront’s own verify-files instructions for the installation on that platform. EA’s Zero Company guide points players to Steam or Epic verification when the game is installed there; the precise interface steps depend on the client. Avoid verifying a copy through a launcher other than the one that manages that installation.
Check graphics drivers and reduce settings if needed
Electronic Arts Help says that “Outdated graphics drivers can cause low frame rates, crashes, and other game performance issues.” That makes a driver check worthwhile, but it does not prove an outdated driver is the cause of a particular crash.

- Play through all nine films in a new, fun filled adventure
- Identify the graphics hardware in the PC. EA points to a DxDiag report as one way to find graphics and system details.
- Check the GPU manufacturer’s current driver guidance and install an update that applies to your graphics card and operating system.
- Restart and retest the game. If the driver is already current, or performance remains poor after updating, reduce in-game graphics settings and test again.
For STAR WARS Zero Company, EA names Display, Anti-aliasing & Upscaling, and Quality as settings categories to adjust. Other Star Wars games may use different menu names or controls, so treat these as title-specific examples rather than universal paths.

If the basic checks, file repair, or driver and settings steps do not resolve the issue, match the next diagnostic to the problem. A DirectX or EA app launch error calls for the corresponding PC troubleshooting route; an unclear PC problem may call for a DxDiag report. A console issue or a problem limited to one title should be checked against that game’s support hub.

| What you observe | Useful next route |
|---|---|
| PC launch error mentioning DirectX or the EA app | Use EA’s relevant DirectX or EA app troubleshooting path for the game. |
| Unclear PC crash or performance problem | Prepare a DxDiag report to identify graphics hardware and system details. |
| Crash or freeze on PlayStation or Xbox | Open the support hub for the specific Star Wars title and choose the matching platform and issue. |
| Only one Star Wars game has the problem | Check that game’s support hub and its title-specific guidance. |
| Several games or sign-in, download, or update functions are affected | Check platform and EA service status, then use the support route for the affected account or platform issue. |
If you contact publisher or platform support, include the title, platform and storefront, error message, when the failure occurs, and the steps you have already tried. This makes it easier to route the issue without repeating checks.
