These checks help show whether the problem follows YouTube, one device, Wi-Fi, or the wider home connection; buffering by itself does not identify the cause.
1. Lower YouTube’s playback quality
- Open the YouTube player’s Settings → Quality.
- Select a lower resolution that is available, then replay the same part of the stream.
If playback becomes steadier, the lower setting may be a useful workaround, at the cost of image detail. It does not prove that Airtel’s connection is faulty or establish a minimum broadband speed for this stream. Airtel also recommends trying a lower resolution in its buffering guidance.
2. Find out what the buffering follows
Keep the same stream and note the results of these comparisons. They are clues, not guarantees of a diagnosis.
- Another device: Replay the stream on a different phone, computer, or TV connected to the same home network. If only one device struggles, focus first on that device or its YouTube app.
- Another YouTube video: Check whether other YouTube videos play normally. If only one stream has trouble, the issue may be specific to that playback or live stream.
- Another streaming service: Try a different service. If several services buffer on multiple devices, investigate the home network and connection.
- Another internet connection: If practical, try the affected device on a different connection. YouTube recommends this comparison when troubleshooting playback.
YouTube’s video and streaming troubleshooting guide also recommends restarting the device. On supported devices, clearing the YouTube app cache may help; the exact menus vary by device and app version. For a YouTube-specific issue, use the app’s Help and feedback option.

3. Check whether Wi-Fi signal is the weak link
- Move the device playing the stream closer to the router and test again.
- Reduce obstacles between the device and router, and avoid placing the router in a corner or inside a closed cabinet.
- Where available, compare the Wi-Fi bands. Airtel describes 2.4 GHz as offering longer reach but lower speed, and 5 GHz as faster over a shorter range. Device support, walls, distance, and interference affect the result.
Airtel advises placing the router centrally, in the open, and at least four feet above the floor. Treat this as Airtel’s placement advice, not a universal guarantee. Wi-Fi speed can differ from the speed reaching the home: distance, walls, interference, router, and device can all matter. Ofcom’s consumer guidance likewise distinguishes Wi-Fi problems from a broadband-line fault.
4. Compare Wi-Fi with an Ethernet connection
If both the playback device and router or ONT have Ethernet ports, connect them with an RJ45 Cat5 or Cat6 cable and replay the stream. Airtel documents this type of cable for connecting a computer to an ONT/router in its home troubleshooting guide.

If wired playback improves, the wireless path may be contributing. That result alone does not prove the router is defective or confirm that Airtel’s line is healthy. A cable is only useful for this test when the devices have compatible ports; it is not a required purchase or guaranteed fix.
5. Check the Airtel ONT and router
- Confirm the ONT/router has power and its cables are connected securely.
- Check the device’s labeled indicator lights. Labels and their meanings vary by modem model.
- Inspect the fiber patch cord and make sure it is seated. Avoid sharp bends and rough handling.
- If the connection appears stuck, Airtel advises disconnecting ONT/router power, waiting 15–20 seconds, then reconnecting it. Allow the connection to return; Airtel says to wait at least 60 seconds before turning the computer back on.
Airtel’s app may also offer a Wi-Fi optimization tool at Airtel Thanks → Broadband → My Wi-Fi → Wi-Fi → Optimize Wi-Fi. App labels can change, so the path may differ in a later version.

6. Decide who to contact
- One device is affected: Restart it, check for app or device updates, and use YouTube’s Help and feedback option if other YouTube playback remains affected.
- YouTube alone is affected: Keep the device and network comparisons in mind and report the playback issue through YouTube. Buffering does not establish that Airtel is at fault.
- Several devices and services are affected: After the local checks above, contact Airtel support and describe which devices, services, and wired or wireless tests still show the problem. Airtel can investigate whether the issue is equipment-related or provider-side.
Do not choose a broadband upgrade or replacement router based only on buffering. First establish whether the symptom persists across devices and services, including a wired test where available. Airtel’s plan page is the place to check current plan details and local availability if Airtel support later identifies a need to review them.
Why live streams can buffer
Live programming can be affected by congestion and other factors. YouTube notes: “The lower the broadcast delay, the less buffer the video player will have.” That is general live-stream context, not evidence that this ASMR channel uses a lower-delay configuration or that it explains a particular viewer’s buffering.
