Start with the exact error message or code, then check EA and your gaming platform’s service status. If services are online, verify your EA email or ID and password, use the fix for the displayed code, and recover the account through EA if you can’t access its email or a linked sign-in.
Identify what is blocking sign-in
EA login failures can come from different places: account credentials, verification, the EA app, your network, or an EA or platform outage. Write down the complete message or error code before troubleshooting; the right fix depends on what it reports.
- Account details: The email might be mistyped, might not belong to an EA Account, or might have changed. Expired credentials can also require a password reset. EA’s account recovery guidance covers these situations.
- EA app or authentication: Error 104 points to a problem with the EA app’s background service; error 10000 indicates an account authentication issue; and error 10500 is an authentication error that may be related to an outage. See EA app error-code guidance.
- Network: Error 10005 may indicate a home network or internet connection problem. EA’s connection troubleshooting steps can help narrow it down.
- Service availability: An EA or platform outage or maintenance can prevent sign-in even when your account details are correct. Check EA service status and the status of the platform you play on.
Work through the fixes in order
- Check for an outage. Look up the EA app or relevant game on EA’s status page, and check your platform’s service status too. If either service is unavailable, wait for it to return before changing account or network settings.
- Confirm your account details. Check that you entered the email address or EA ID associated with the account. If you forgot the password or EA says your credentials have expired, use the password-reset process in EA Help’s account recovery article and follow the instructions sent to your email. If a reset does not resolve an expired-credential issue, EA advises waiting 90 minutes and trying again.
- Complete verification using your configured method. Use the email, authenticator app, or text-message method set up on your account. EA says backup codes are the only way to sign in on a new device when you cannot access your selected verification method. Keep those codes private, and do not share passwords, verification codes, or passkeys. See EA’s login verification guidance.
- Apply the fix for the displayed code.
- Error 104: Fully close the EA app, then reopen it.
- Error 10000: Confirm your account details and connection; use account recovery if you still cannot authenticate.
- Error 10500: Clear the EA app cache, check service status, and try again later if there is an outage or authentication service issue.
- Error 10005 or other connection trouble: Close background apps and restart your router. Turn it off, unplug it, wait about a minute, reconnect it, then try again. Follow EA’s connection troubleshooting steps if the problem continues.
If you can’t access your EA Account
If the email attached to your EA Account is inaccessible, first try to recover that email account through its provider. If your EA Account is linked to PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Steam, Apple, Facebook, or Google, you can also try signing in with that connected account. EA outlines these options in its account recovery guidance.
If neither route works, contact EA Help for account recovery. Be ready to provide the original email address, usernames or IDs for linked accounts (such as your EA ID or console ID), and invoice numbers for purchases made through an EA platform, if available.

When to stop troubleshooting locally
If EA and platform services are available, your details are correct, and the code-specific app or connection steps have not helped, further router or password changes may not solve an account-side problem. Use EA’s recovery support when you cannot access the account email, cannot sign in through a linked account, or need help regaining account access.
