Saving a structure inside a world and exporting a portable file are separate steps. Microsoft’s documented file import and export controls are limited to the Windows version of the game.
What you need before creating the file
Work in a Creative Mode Bedrock world: Structure Blocks can only be edited in Creative Mode. You also need to define a selection that fully encloses the blocks you want to save. Microsoft’s Structure Blocks introduction explains the selection controls and save options.

Create and save the structure

Place a Structure Block and set its mode to Save.

Enter a name for the structure. Position the block, then adjust the selection’s size and offset until its bounding box covers the intended build.

Alternatively, mark the build’s corners with two Structure Blocks in Corner mode, using the same name for both. Open a Save-mode Structure Block with that name and select Detect to define the area.

Review the save options, including whether to include entities, then choose how to save:
- Save in Memory is faster, but the saved structure is usable only in that world.
- Save to Disk is slower, but persists between play sessions.

Click Save. This stores the structure in the world; it does not by itself create a portable file on your device.

Export the selection as a .mcstructure file
After making the selection, use the documented export action to save it to your device as a .mcstructure file. The export controls are available only in the Windows version, according to Microsoft’s Structure Block documentation. If you only need to reuse the structure in the same world, an in-world save may be enough; exporting is the step for making a device file to share or import elsewhere.
Import and place the file in another world

In the destination world, open a Structure Block and set it to Load mode.

Choose Import and select the
.mcstructurefile. Microsoft states that importing requires you to be the world host, and that the import/export buttons are limited to Windows. -
Adjust the offset if the structure should load in a different position, then click Load. Importing selects the file; loading places the structure and saves it into that world.

Use commands instead of the Structure Block interface
If you want to save and place a named region with commands, cheats must be enabled. Microsoft documents the structure command for saving and loading regions.

Use the optional
disksave mode for a structure stored in the world database across game loads, ormemoryfor a temporary save. -
Place the named structure with
/structure load <name> <to x y z>.
This command workflow saves and loads a named region. It is not a substitute for the documented Structure Block export action when your goal is specifically a portable .mcstructure file.
What an MCStructure file is used for
Microsoft describes .mcstructure as a file containing a Minecraft structure, such as a building or natural feature, made with the Structure Block tool and shareable with other players. For creator workflows, templates can also be stored in a Behavior Pack; Microsoft notes that templates may be NBT files, while creating them in Creative Mode with Structure Blocks is easier and safer.
