If “Picking up the Pieces” will not complete on Pendola Pass, Embark has confirmed a current map-specific bug: complete the quest on another map, or wait for the promised update. For other missing quest items or objectives, first check that the quest is active and follow its stated location and interaction. There is no confirmed universal workaround for every quest.
Start with the quest and the location
- Check that the quest is active. An item can appear as ordinary world loot when its related quest is not active, as Embark’s February 2026 notes documented for a bug it fixed.
- Follow the active objective exactly. Go to the location named by the quest and use the specified interaction; some objectives depend on the correct item, container, or target.
- Check the quest or tracking UI for cues. Embark added icons to quest-related or tracked ground pickups in its December 2025 update, but that does not mean every quest item is always visibly marked.
If the correct item or interaction still does not register, the issue may be with the quest logic rather than something you are doing wrong. Embark has previously fixed quest problems involving multi-objective completion and narrow item criteria, out-of-order objective activation, and missing next-objective pop-ups. Those were fixes in specific updates, not proof that the same issues remain active now. See Embark’s November 13, 2025 version 1.2.0 notes, June 16, 2026 Live Update 1.33.0 notes, and the February 24, 2026 Shrouded Sky notes.

“Picking up the Pieces” on Pendola Pass: use another map
Embark’s October 8, 2026 Frozen Trail update notes say that “Picking up the Pieces” cannot be completed on Pendola Pass, but works normally on other maps. The notes say a fix is planned for an upcoming update without giving a release date. The supported workaround is to complete this quest on another map; the note does not establish that changing maps will fix other quests.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Embark also said the update fixed an issue that let items appear outside their intended areas or containers. After the change, those items should appear only in their designated locations. This is a general item-placement correction, not confirmation that a specific missing quest pickup is currently bugged. Read the official Frozen Trail update notes.

Choose between the workaround and waiting
| Option | What to expect | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Complete “Picking up the Pieces” on another map | Embark says the quest works normally on maps other than Pendola Pass. | Requires playing the quest elsewhere; this is the immediate route the notes identify. |
| Wait for the upcoming update | Embark says it will fix the Pendola Pass issue. | The October 8, 2026 notes give no release date, so timing is uncertain. |
If another quest still will not appear or register
- Compare the symptom with Embark’s latest update notes, checking the exact quest and map as well as the date. A past fix does not show that the same bug is still active.
- Submit an in-game bug report if the objective remains unavailable after checking its active status and instructions.
- Avoid treating repeated raids, changing platform files, or third-party utilities as guaranteed fixes: Embark’s cited notes do not support those as remedies.
The official notes document individual quest defects and fixes, but do not report how common missing objectives are or provide a complete list of current quest bugs. They also do not establish a platform-specific fix.
