If Battlefield 1 says it can’t connect to an EA server, first check whether EA or your gaming platform is having a service problem. If services appear available, work through your account and local connection checks in order. EA’s suggestions are general connection troubleshooting—not a Battlefield 1-specific diagnosis or a guaranteed fix.
Check EA and platform service status first
Look for a current outage or maintenance notice from EA and from the platform you use to play. EA recommends checking service status as part of connection troubleshooting. Its Battlefield 1 support page links to a general connection guide, while EA’s server-status page describes itself as a real-time checker. Battlefield 1 was not listed on that page when reviewed, so the omission does not establish whether Battlefield 1 is online or offline. Check EA Help and your platform’s status and support channels for current information.

If there is a confirmed service issue, wait for the provider to resolve it before changing your home network. A router restart or DNS change cannot restore an unavailable service.
Restart your router
EA’s general connection guide recommends restarting the router. Turn it off, unplug it from power, wait about a minute, reconnect it, and then try Battlefield 1 again. This may clear a temporary local network problem, but it is not a guaranteed solution.

Test whether Wi-Fi is the problem
If you play over Wi-Fi, try connecting your console or computer to the router with Ethernet, if possible. EA says, “Hardwired connections can be much more reliable than wireless ones.” A wired test can help identify an unreliable Wi-Fi connection; it will not resolve an EA outage or an account restriction.
Consider DNS only after the basic checks
If services appear available and restarting the router or testing Ethernet has not helped, DNS may be worth investigating. EA’s guide notes that an unreliable DNS can cause connection problems and suggests trying another DNS. Treat this as an optional network-setting change, not a guaranteed fix. EA does not operate the third-party DNS services it names, so consult your router or platform’s instructions before changing settings.

Check your EA Account and platform access
EA says that banned or suspended accounts cannot play online; deactivated or deleted accounts cannot play online either. Its connection guide also covers cases where an account is already in use on another device. Check your account status and make sure it is not being used elsewhere.
If you play on a console or through Steam, also verify the applicable platform requirements and check that platform’s status and support information. Platform access issues are separate from EA’s service status and your home network.

Contact support with details that narrow the issue
If the error continues, contact EA Help and the support team for your platform. Include the platform and region, the exact error wording, when the problem began, and whether other online games work on the same connection. These details can help support distinguish a game-service, account, platform, or local-network problem.
EA’s connection troubleshooting guide covers general checks such as service status, restarting a router, wired connections, DNS, and account access. It does not establish a Battlefield 1-specific cause for every “can’t connect” error.
