If Battlefield 6 looks too bright or washed out, lower the in-game World Brightness setting a little at a time, then check both a bright exterior and a dark interior. There is no single best value: the result depends on your display, HDR setup and game version.
Adjust World Brightness in small steps
EA describes the setting as “World and UI Brightness”: it changes how bright both the game world and UI visuals appear on screen. It is not documented as a control for world lighting alone. The accessibility page lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in its US English scope, so menu labels or availability may differ on other platforms or language versions. EA’s Battlefield 6 accessibility page
- Open the game’s settings and find World Brightness, or “World and UI Brightness” where that label is used.
- Lower the value slightly rather than making a large change at once.
- Check a bright outdoor scene and a dark interior. If exteriors look better but interiors become hard to see, raise the setting a little.
- Repeat until the balance works on your display.
PC Gamer reported a default value of 50 and suggested 30–40 as a subjective starting range in 2025. That is a publication’s recommendation, not an EA target or a verified ideal for every screen. Going too low can make darker areas harder to see. PC Gamer’s Battlefield 6 brightness advice
Separate brightness adjustment from HDR calibration
World Brightness is an in-game display control; HDR calibration is a separate setting. If your specific problem is that HDR calibration changes do not save, or the calibration screen is difficult to see, check that the game is current. EA’s Battlefield 6 update 1.2.2.0 notes say, “Corrected an issue where HDR calibration changes applied immediately without saving” and “Improved HDR calibration behaviour and brightness screen visibility.” Those notes document changes to calibration behaviour; they do not establish that every washed-out image or brightness complaint is fixed. On PC, test changes in the Firing Range
EA’s PC graphics guide recommends testing visual changes in the Firing Range. It also notes that some players find enemies easier to spot in buildings or through water with Screen Space Reflections turned off. Try that only if visibility in those situations is the problem: it is not a replacement for adjusting World Brightness or calibrating HDR. The guide places visual options under Settings > Graphics. What to include when asking for help
If the image still looks wrong, include your platform, whether HDR is on, your game version and your display model when seeking troubleshooting help. Those details help distinguish an in-game setting issue from a calibration or display-specific problem; the available official guidance does not identify one universal cause.
