Then isolate the cause by comparing the same scene with Photo Mode effects removed and HDR variables changed one at a time. These are diagnostic tests, not a confirmed universal fix: IOI has not published a general repair or HDR slider value for this symptom.
Confirm Photo Mode is available and identify what looks wrong
Photo Mode arrived with Update 1.3.0, released October 1, 2026. IOI describes camera settings, overlays, filters, visual effects and poses among its options.
Use one scene and the same camera framing throughout your checks. Look at the live image and the saved screenshot separately: if only one looks wrong, that distinction helps narrow down whether the issue appears in the game image, the capture, or how the image is displayed.
- Blurry: Is the softness in textures during gameplay, in the saved screenshot, or both?
- Washed out: Does the live display look faded, does the saved screenshot look faded, or do both?
- Context: Note your platform, game version, HDR state and, on PC, graphics settings. Change one item at a time so you can see which change affects the result.
Test Photo Mode filters and effects
Temporarily remove Photo Mode filters and visual effects, then capture the same framing again. If the result changes, re-enable options individually to identify which setting affects the look. This is a controlled test based on Photo Mode’s available options, not an officially confirmed repair for blurry or washed-out captures.

Isolate HDR instead of guessing at a slider value
- Keep the scene and camera framing fixed, then compare the live image with the saved screenshot.
- Turn HDR off and make a new capture; compare it with the HDR-on result.
- If your game and display expose separate HDR controls, change only one at a time and capture again.
- Restore the setting that gives the more natural result, or leave HDR off as a temporary diagnostic choice if the washed-out appearance occurs only with it enabled.
IOI has not provided a universal HDR setting or a confirmed workaround for washed-out Photo Mode screenshots. A player using an LG C4 reported difficulty getting the HDR setting right, but that individual report is not evidence of a general defect or a validated slider value: the Reddit post.
If the image is blurry on PS5 Pro
IOI’s known-issues page, updated September 17, 2026, lists “Blurry / low-resolution textures” on PS5 Pro and says there was no workaround at that time. That entry predates Update 1.3.0, so its status may have changed; check the current support page for an update. The entry concerns textures and does not establish that every soft Photo Mode screenshot is caused by the same issue.

PlayStation Blog says upgraded PSSR is enabled by default in 007 First Light on PS5 Pro and is intended to reconstruct a sharper, more stable image from a lower internal resolution. It also says IOI uses FSR 3.1.5 outside PS5 Pro. These details help explain the platform difference, but do not prove that either upscaler causes a particular screenshot defect. For PC path-tracing problems, use the PC-specific guidance
If the softness occurs while path tracing is enabled on PC, IOI’s September 25, 2026 guidance recommends updating the game and graphics driver, restoring graphics defaults, and following the path-tracing and fullscreen-resolution recommendations for your GPU. Its listed recommendations are specific to these RTX models:

IOI recommends DLSS Super Resolution Auto for scaling. These are PC path-tracing recommendations, not general Photo Mode export fixes and not instructions for console players.

For each capture, keep the scene and framing constant and record the game build, platform, HDR state, and whether Photo Mode filters or effects are active. On PC path-tracing setups, also note the GPU, resolution, scaling mode and graphics driver. This makes it easier to tell whether a change helped; no controlled comparison establishes a universal fix.
