There is no verified one-step fix that instantly resolves every Call of Duty: Mobile lag problem. First work out whether matches are freezing or actions are delayed (start with the connection), or whether gameplay looks choppy despite a usable connection (try device-maintenance steps). Make one change at a time and test again so you can tell what helped.
Start by identifying what “lag” looks like
Lag can describe more than one problem. If a match freezes, inputs arrive late, or you struggle to connect, begin with your network. If the game runs slowly or looks choppy while the connection remains usable, try the device steps below. These symptoms can guide troubleshooting, but they do not prove the cause.
Activision says Call of Duty: Mobile requires a network connection to play and recommends Wi-Fi rather than cellular data. Activision’s troubleshooting page and its Android slow-gameplay guidance offer the steps below.
Try these fixes in order

Check your connection
Use a stable Wi-Fi connection if one is available. If your Wi-Fi is the problem, restart the router if you can. You can compare the game on another connection as a diagnostic, but switching to cellular data may use your plan’s data and is not guaranteed to fix the issue.

Update the game and your device
Check the Google Play Store or Apple App Store for a Call of Duty: Mobile update. Also check your device settings for an operating-system update. Activision recommends keeping both the game and device software updated.

Close background apps and overlays
Quit apps running in the background, including messaging apps that show pop-ups, and close overlays that appear over the game. They can compete for device resources.

Restart your device
Close the game and restart your phone or tablet. Activision includes a device restart in both connection and slow-gameplay troubleshooting.

Clear the game cache on Android
Open your device’s Settings, then look for Apps (or a similarly named menu), Call of Duty: Mobile, Storage, and Clear cache. Menu names vary by Android version and manufacturer. Choose the cache-clearing option, not an option to erase app data.

Free device resources
If your device is crowded with apps, uninstall ones you no longer use to free resources, as Activision’s slow-gameplay guidance suggests. The cited guidance does not recommend deleting arbitrary files or installing “booster” apps.

Reinstall on iOS only if earlier steps fail
Activision lists deleting and reinstalling the app as a later iOS troubleshooting step. Before you do so, make sure you can sign in to the same account: Activision says signing in with that account restores progress. Follow the current prompts from the app store and game.

Check whether your device meets the minimum requirements
Activision’s support article, updated February 25, 2026, lists these compatibility minimums:

Meeting a minimum means the device meets a listed compatibility requirement; it does not guarantee smooth performance. The requirements do not specify a ping threshold, frame-rate target, or expected improvement from any of the troubleshooting steps.

Get help if the problem continues
Activision directs players to the in-game help icon at the top of the main lobby. Open it, choose the relevant category, and select a topic. Describe whether the issue is freezing, delayed actions, or choppy gameplay, and note which steps you have tried. The guidance cited here does not establish that a persistent problem is a widespread outage or a known bug.
