PC: compare your hardware with Steam’s published targets
For a Windows performance problem, begin with the requirements displayed on the Steam store page. Square Enix’s FAQ directs PC players to the relevant store page for detailed requirements. These are store-published targets, not a promise that every system at or above the minimum will hold a fixed frame rate in every location.

The Intel Arc memory note appears with the published requirements; treat it as part of Steam’s qualification rather than a universal rule for every graphics card. A machine that meets the minimum target is being compared with a 720p, lowest-preset, 60-FPS objective, while the recommended target is framed around 1080p, highest preset, 60 FPS. Neither line guarantees identical results in every scene, with every driver, or on every laptop power profile.
A practical PC checking sequence
- Confirm that Windows is 64-bit and that DirectX 12 is available.
- Compare the processor, graphics adapter and installed memory with the table. Check the actual graphics adapter in use; a laptop can launch a game on integrated graphics even when a discrete GPU is installed.
- Make sure at least 20 GB is available on the drive used for the installation, while leaving additional working space for downloads and updates.
- Install the current driver supplied for your GPU through its normal manufacturer channel, then restart Windows.
- In the game, begin with the preset that corresponds to your hardware target. If your system is near minimum, test 1280×720 and the lowest preset before increasing image-quality options.
- Change one setting at a time and test the same scene. This gives you a useful before-and-after result instead of several simultaneous changes that cannot be diagnosed.
The official requirements do not identify a single graphics option as the cause of every stutter or crash. PC players should first compare their processor, GPU, RAM, operating system and DirectX 12 support with the Steam table. If the machine is below the minimum target, lowering resolution and preset is a sensible test; it is not a guarantee of a stable result. If the machine meets or exceeds the recommended target and the issue continues, capture the circumstances and escalate rather than buying an unverified accessory or utility.

Confirm the game and operating system are current, then restart the platform and reproduce the problem with a clear record of where it occurs. On PC, note whether the crash happens at launch, during loading, or in a particular scene; on console, note whether it follows an update or a suspended session. Use the console’s game-management or update-history screen to check for a current patch. The May 23, 2025 Square Enix notice lists version 1.1.0.0 for both platform families, but that number is historical. A console showing a different, newer number is not evidence of a problem.
Steam and Microsoft Store on Windows
Let the client check for updates, then compare the installed build with its update history. Square Enix’s May 23, 2025 notice lists version 1.2.0.0 for Steam and Microsoft Store Windows editions. Check the live client and support pages for anything newer. Confirm the Windows architecture, DirectX 12 support, hardware and available storage before treating a low-performance symptom as an update failure.
What not to assume
- Do not assume the Switch 2 patch is automatic. The publisher instructs players to connect to the internet and download it.
- Do not treat dated version numbers as current in 2026. The May 23, 2025 notice is a historical record.
- Do not promise a fixed frame rate from the Steam table. The 60-FPS figures are store targets tied to stated resolutions and presets.
- Do not use a hardware purchase as a guaranteed remedy. The official sources do not connect a particular accessory, replacement part or repair tool to a fix for this game.
- Do not present cleanup software, streaming services, INI edits or community modifications as publisher-confirmed solutions. They are not established by the cited official material.

This information lets support distinguish a failed download from a rendering problem and a requirements mismatch from a game defect. It also avoids losing time on a generic fix that does not apply to your platform.
