AI-generated game code and assets are starting points, not finished features. When something goes wrong, identify the intended behavior, inspect what the tool created, test it in the engine, and make one focused change at a time. The exact controls differ by platform: Roblox documents detailed Assistant and asset-generation workflows, while Unity documents in-editor AI assistance for code and asset creation.

Why doesn’t my AI-generated game script work?

It may be attached to the wrong object, lack the context it needs, or simply contain code that needs revision. Roblox’s documentation explicitly cautions that generated scripts might not function flawlessly. Start by checking where the script landed and what it is supposed to do before rewriting it.

Check the target, trigger, and result

In Roblox Studio, select and name the object that should own the behavior, then describe the trigger and expected result. Roblox’s tutorial uses a platform named GlitterPart and asks for sparkles when the platform is touched. Naming the object gives the prompt useful context.

Assistant can place a script on the selected object or infer a location if nothing is selected. Inspect the script’s location in the Explorer before concluding that its code is broken. See Roblox’s AI Assistant tutorial and Assistant for Studio guide.

Allplay Alibis Board Game, Whodunnit Word Association Party, 2-6 Players
  • WHODUNIT WORD DEDUCTION: Solve the crime by connecting clever word clues to uncover who’s lying and who’s telling the truth. Every round challenges players to think fast, read the room, and catch the culprit.
  • SOCIAL BLUFFING & ASSOCIATION: Players create convincing alibis using word associations while one secret criminal tries to blend in. The mix of bluffing and logic creates big laughs and memorable “aha!” moments.
  • PERFECT PARTY GAME ENERGY: Designed for 4-8 players, Alibis shines at parties, game nights, and group gatherings. Everyone stays involved through discussion, debate, and accusation from start to finish.
  • EASY TO LEARN, FAST TO PLAY: Simple rules get the game started in minutes while still delivering meaningful deduction. With a 20-30 minute playtime, it’s ideal for repeat plays and late-night rounds.
  • HIGH REPLAY VALUE & VARIETY: A wide range of scenarios, clues, and word combinations ensure no two games feel the same. Endless variability keeps the mystery fresh and the accusations flying every time.

Read the generated script and test the behavior

Check whether the script references the right object, listens for the expected trigger, and produces the intended effect. Then run the game and try the interaction. A script that appears plausible in the editor may still behave differently in play; Roblox’s tutorial recommends playtesting to decide whether the sample needs changes.

If it fails, describe the observed result rather than asking vaguely for the feature to be fixed. For example: “When I touch GlitterPart, nothing happens. Change the script so touching this platform creates sparkles.” Assistant can revise its own generated script or edit an existing one. If you can read the engine’s scripting language, reviewing the proposed changes makes it easier to catch mistakes.

How do I fix AI-generated game code?

Use a narrow troubleshooting loop instead of replacing a whole feature at once. This makes it easier to tell whether a change addressed the problem or introduced another one.

  1. Write down the expected behavior. Name the object, the action that triggers the feature, and the result you expect.
  2. Inspect the current implementation. Check the script’s target and location, relevant trigger, and intended effect.
  3. Run the game and reproduce the issue. Note what actually happens, including whether nothing happens, the wrong object responds, or the effect differs from what you requested.
  4. Make one focused revision. Ask the assistant to change the specific behavior that failed, or edit that part yourself.
  5. Playtest again and keep the working version. If the revision breaks something that already worked, undo it or restore a known-good version before trying a different change.

Roblox’s AI workflow documentation describes connecting a coding client to Studio to read the data model, edit and run scripts, and playtest. It also points to Rojo and Git for file-based version control. These tools can support a disciplined workflow, but they do not guarantee that revisions will avoid regressions. See AI on Roblox.

Why does the generated code change when I reword the prompt?

Prompt wording and context affect what an assistant generates. Roblox’s tutorial warns that even slightly different wording can produce different results, so give the request concrete context: identify the object, name the trigger, and state the intended outcome. Change one part of the request at a time, then compare the result in a playtest.

More words are not automatically better. A concise, specific request is more useful for troubleshooting than adding unrelated detail. For example, identify whether a door should open when a player touches it or presses a key; those are different triggers and can lead to different implementations.

Why does the generated asset look wrong?

For Roblox mesh generation, refine the description or provide a reference image. Roblox documents both text prompts and image references; a selected Part can define the generated mesh’s size and location boundary. The Assistant guide documents a default triangle-count limit of 10,000, which can be configured. These are Roblox-specific controls, not settings shared by every AI asset tool.

If the generated model is split into parts, inspect the proposed breakdown and use recommended part names for supported object types. Roblox’s segmentation feature can make components easier to customize, script, or replace without regenerating the whole model. Its workflow allows you to edit the prompt, optionally provide a hint image, adjust part names, preview the result, and confirm a selection before inserting it.

Segmentation is documented as an early-preview feature, and the result depends on the input mesh’s topology. If the source geometry is malformed or unsuitable, that can limit the quality of the segmented result. Consult the current Assistant for Studio guide for the available mesh-generation and segmentation controls.

Should I prompt with text, use an image, or edit the asset?

Choose the approach that gives you the control your current problem needs. Roblox documents text prompts and image references for mesh generation, and segmentation for component-level adjustments. The options solve different problems; none is universally best.

Approach Useful when What to inspect
Text prompt You can describe the subject and desired result clearly. Whether the generated shape matches the description and fits the intended scene.
Image reference A visual example communicates the desired form better than text alone. Whether the generated mesh reflects the reference and works within the chosen size and location boundary.
Segment the generated model You need to customize, script, or replace individual components. Whether the proposed parts and names suit the object, and whether the input topology supports a useful breakdown.
Edit the asset directly You can identify a specific component or property that needs adjustment. Whether the change fixes that issue without damaging other parts.

How do I test an AI-generated game?

Test in the engine, not just by reading the generated code or looking at an asset in isolation. For a behavior, trigger it in the game and compare the result with what you asked for. For an asset, inspect it in the scene at its intended size and location, and check any component-level changes in context.

  • Try the actual player action or event that should activate the feature.
  • Check the specific object the prompt named, especially if the tool chose where to place a script.
  • Record the concrete mismatch between expected and actual results.
  • After a targeted fix, repeat the same test and check any nearby behavior that could have changed.

What Unity’s documented AI tools cover

Unity’s current documentation describes in-editor assistance for writing and troubleshooting code, along with AI asset creation using prompts or references. It does not establish that every Unity project or generated result will work without review, nor does it document the same detailed failure-diagnosis steps as Roblox’s sources. Treat generated output as something to inspect and test in your project. See Unity’s AI documentation.

What safety rules apply to AI-generated content in Roblox?

Roblox says generative AI content used in games must comply with its Community Standards. When developers use Roblox APIs such as GenerationService and TextGenerator, inputs and outputs go through moderation, including text filtering and image and asset review. Developers who use third-party tools remain responsible for the content delivered to players and must not bypass required safety measures.

If players can interact with a feature that triggers an AI response, Roblox requires disclosure in the Content Maturity questionnaire; extended AI interactions have additional classification requirements. Check the current Games with Generative AI policy before publishing, since platform requirements can change.
