Confirm Cloudbot is enabled and has the right platform permissions; then test a simple command. If the bot works but one feature does not, troubleshoot that feature’s settings instead of repeatedly reconnecting the whole service.
Start with the checks that apply to every Cloudbot problem
- Confirm Cloudbot is enabled. Check its status for the platform you are streaming on. A disabled bot cannot run commands or timers.
- Check the bot’s permissions. On Twitch, enter
/mod Streamlabsin chat. If you use a custom bot name, mod that account instead. On YouTube, add Streamlabs’ bot channel in YouTube Studio’s community settings. - Check whether the bot is present. Look for it in the viewer list where the platform provides one. YouTube does not provide the viewer list Streamlabs uses for this check.
- Test a basic command. Try a default command or create a simple
!testcommand without permission restrictions. If it responds, the connection is probably working and the issue is more likely specific to the failing feature.
For YouTube, also confirm the stream is public: Streamlabs says Cloudbot will not join a private stream. These checks and platform-specific steps are documented in Streamlabs’ Cloudbot troubleshooting guide.
If Cloudbot does not respond anywhere
After checking the bot’s enabled state, permissions, presence where applicable, and a basic command, try Streamlabs’ restart and reconnection sequence:
- Turn Cloudbot off.
- Wait 2–10 minutes, then turn it back on.
- If you recently changed your account name, log out and back in, then re-enable the bot.
- If it is still unresponsive, unmod and remod the bot account, then disconnect and reconnect Streamlabs services.
If you use a custom-named bot or browser sources, check those components specifically rather than treating them as universal requirements. Make sure the custom bot account is modded. Streamlabs also recommends having an Alert Box in each scene in the collection; if you do not want alerts visible in every scene, you can launch the Alert Box widget in a browser and mute that browser. Refresh the browser source cache if a relevant source appears stuck. Streamlabs cautions against using your personal Twitch username as the bot username.

If only one command fails
When a basic test command works, inspect the failed command rather than restarting Cloudbot again.
- Trigger: Check that chat uses the exact trigger text and that the command is enabled.
- Permission: Confirm the person testing it meets the command’s permission level.
- Cooldown: Check the command’s cooldown in Commands settings and wait for it to expire before testing again.
- Loyalty cost: If the command costs points, confirm the user has enough to use it.
- Variables or parameters: Confirm the variable is supported in that Cloudbot section; Streamlabs notes that some parameters are restricted to particular sections.
If timers do not trigger or appear to collide
Cloudbot timers run in parallel, not in a queue. Timers set to 10, 15, and 20 minutes can coincide at common multiples, so several messages may appear together. Streamlabs offers 5, 7, and 11 minutes as an example of intervals that overlap less often; these are an example, not a universally optimal schedule. See Streamlabs’ timers guide.

- Make sure the timer itself is enabled.
- Check both its interval and its line minimum. The timer must satisfy both conditions before it posts.
- Remember that the line minimum counts chat lines from the previous five minutes, not from the whole stream.
- On YouTube, confirm the stream is public.
If viewers are not receiving loyalty points
Check that loyalty is enabled, then review its payout settings. The payout interval controls how often points are awarded, so make sure it suits the stream’s duration. Also check that the live-user and active-user payout amounts are not zero. Streamlabs explains these settings in its Cloudbot loyalty points guide; active-user payout stacks with live-user payout.
YouTube works differently for this diagnosis: Streamlabs says it has no viewer list for loyalty payouts. A viewer who only lurks cannot receive the live-user payout through a viewer list; active users who type in chat can qualify for the active-user payout.

If several features fail at once
When commands, timers, and other features stop together, suspect a bot connection or a broader service issue before editing each feature. Run the connection checks and restart sequence above, then check Streamlabs’ current support notices. A past incident reported on September 4, 2025 affected timers, default commands, and custom commands, but Streamlabs marked it resolved; that notice is not evidence of a current outage. If the settings and connection checks do not resolve the issue, contact Streamlabs through its support ticket system or community channels. Include the platform, whether the failure affects all features or only one, and the checks you have already completed. Streamlabs also points new users to its Cloudbot setup guide.
