If you can’t connect to the Borderlands Online revival, first check the project maintainer’s latest announcements and build instructions. The fan restoration is in playtesting, and reported server outages or changes to its login flow can cause problems that no router fix will solve. If the project has not announced an issue, test your internet connection and local network one step at a time.
First, determine whether the problem is project-side or local
A failed login can come from two broad sources: the revival’s servers, build, or changing login process, or your internet service, Wi-Fi, router, or competing network traffic. Start with the project side, then work through local checks. A successful network test cannot rule out an account or game-build problem.

No canonical BLOL live-status page or verified support-ticket route is established here. Official Borderlands or SHiFT status information does not confirm whether this separate fan restoration is online.
Check current build and login instructions
- Open the revival maintainer’s latest announcement or the community channel linked by the project.
- Confirm that you have the current build and are following its current login instructions. The restoration has involved changes to login and English localization, but current credentials and error-specific fixes have not been documented in the cited coverage.
- If an announcement describes an outage or build issue, wait for the maintainer’s guidance rather than changing unrelated network settings.
GamesRadar+ reported that EpicNNG, the project creator, cautioned players to “expect bugs, broken skills, animations, server outages, and more inconveniences” during ongoing work. This is a warning about a fan project in development, not an official statement from 2K or Gearbox.

Test your internet connection and router
If there is no project-side notice, use these general connection checks. They can identify local problems, but they are not BLOL-specific fixes and cannot restore an unavailable revival server.
- Check your internet service. See whether other online services work, and ask your ISP whether there is an outage or performance issue. Epic Games Store Support recommends these checks when game login or connection fails: Epic Games Store Support: Why can’t I connect to the game’s servers?
- Restart your router. Reboot it, allow it to reconnect, and try the game again. This may help with a local router or connection problem, but not with a project outage or login issue.
- Test a wired connection if possible. Connect by Ethernet and retry to see whether Wi-Fi instability is involved. Activision includes a wired-connection test among its general online-service tips: Activision Support: Online Services.
- Pause other bandwidth-heavy activity. Stop large downloads or streaming on your network temporarily, then test again. Change one thing at a time so you can tell whether it affected the result.
Give the maintainer useful details if it still fails
If the problem persists after checking project announcements and your connection, report observations rather than trying unverified workarounds. Capture:

- The exact error message, without paraphrasing it.
- When it occurred, including your time zone.
- The game build or version you are running.
- Whether offline play works.
- Whether the same failure occurs on another network, if you can safely test one.
No BLOL-specific guidance substantiates deleting files, disabling security protections, changing ports, or using third-party account tools. Do not take those steps unless the project maintainer explicitly instructs you to.

GamesRadar+ reported on October 5, 2026 that the restoration was playable online or offline during playtesting. That does not establish that every build supports offline play in the same way, or that offline mode can fix an online login failure. Check the current build instructions for how offline play works.
