Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsStart by separating an input problem from a camera-behavior problem. Confirm your platform and controller, check Rebrushed’s own controls/settings screen, then test the same buttons and stick in another game or the platform’s input test. If the controller fails everywhere, troubleshoot the connection or hardware. If it works elsewhere but fails only in Rebrushed, treat the issue as game-specific and use the current platform support route rather than assuming a replacement controller will fix it.
Identify exactly what is going wrong
“The controller is not working” can describe several different faults. Write down the symptom before changing settings, because each symptom points to a different test.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
| Symptom | What to check first |
|---|---|
| No buttons or stick inputs register | Controller power, cable or wireless link, active input device, and a platform-level input test |
| One button or stick direction is missing | The same button or stick in another game, then Rebrushed’s control options |
| Inputs are delayed, repeated, or trigger actions by themselves | Connection stability and whether the behavior appears outside Rebrushed |
| The camera will not rotate | Whether the correct camera stick is being read and whether another game reads that stick normally |
| The camera rotates but feels too fast, slow, or inconsistent | Available camera options and whether the behavior is limited to Rebrushed |
| The camera points somewhere unexpected or will not show the intended view | Camera behavior in the current area, control settings, and an in-game support report if it reproduces consistently |
Also record the controller model, whether it is wired or wireless, and what changed immediately before the problem began. A new cable, a reconnect, a settings change, a system update, or switching between controllers can change the diagnosis.

Button names, system diagnostics, controller compatibility, and connection settings differ by platform. Do not apply a Switch 2 Joy-Con 2 mouse-control instruction to PlayStation, Xbox, PC, or the original Switch version.
Five-minute triage before changing anything
- Pause and reproduce the symptom. Test the same button or camera movement several times in a safe area. Note whether the fault is constant, intermittent, or limited to one scene.
- Check the active device. If more than one controller, keyboard, mouse, or adapter is connected, leave only the device you intend to use connected temporarily.
- Reconnect cleanly. For a wireless controller, disconnect it, power it down, and pair it again using the platform’s normal procedure. For a wired controller, unplug and reconnect it firmly, then try another compatible port or cable if available.
- Check power. Charge the controller or replace its batteries as appropriate. A low charge can look like missed inputs or a camera that stops responding.
- Restart the game and the platform. Close Rebrushed fully rather than only suspending it, then restart the console or PC if the behavior persists.
These are general diagnostics, not a publisher-confirmed Rebrushed patch or universal fix. Their purpose is to distinguish a transient connection state from a repeatable game or hardware fault.
Check Rebrushed’s controls and settings
Open the game’s own controls or settings menu and confirm that the intended input device is active. Review every control and camera option that is actually shown on your version. If you changed a binding, sensitivity, inversion option, or device preference, restore it to the prior value or the displayed default and test again.
Current official material does not document a universal menu path, exact button mapping, camera-sensitivity values, or a guaranteed reset-camera shortcut. Menu labels and available options can vary by platform and version, so do not follow a supposed “press this exact button to recenter” instruction unless your copy of the game displays it.
If the menu offers a control-reset command, use the on-screen confirmation and then test one input at a time. If no reset command is present, do not substitute a random button combination; record the settings that are visible and include them in a support report.
Test whether the controller itself is faulty
Use another game or the platform input test
Run a known-working game that uses the same stick and buttons, or use the console or PC’s built-in controller test. Check the exact control that fails in Rebrushed: each face button, shoulder or trigger input, and both camera-stick directions. If the same input is missing, drifting, or activating repeatedly outside Rebrushed, the problem is probably the controller, its cable, its wireless link, or the platform connection.
Try a known-good compatible controller
A spare controller is useful as a diagnostic, not as proof that Rebrushed requires a particular brand. Connect a known-good controller that your platform supports and repeat the same test. If the spare works and the original fails in several games, service or replacement of the original controller is reasonable. If both controllers show the same Rebrushed-only behavior, replacing hardware is unlikely to solve the game-specific problem.

Compare wired and wireless operation
When your platform and controller support both modes, test the other connection method. A wired test can help isolate wireless pairing or interference; a wireless test can reveal a damaged cable or port. Keep the comparison controlled: use the same game area, the same inputs, and no additional adapters. No cited source establishes that wired or wireless control is categorically better for Rebrushed.
Why the camera may feel broken even when inputs work
Camera movement and camera position are different symptoms. A working stick can rotate the view while still leaving the camera at an angle you do not expect. Conversely, the camera can hold a view correctly while one stick direction is not being read.
The camera does not move at all
- Test the camera stick in another game or the platform input test.
- Confirm that no alternate device has become the active input.
- Review Rebrushed’s camera and control options for an altered binding, inversion setting, or disabled function.
- Reconnect the controller and restart the game before escalating.
If the stick works elsewhere but never moves the camera in Rebrushed, document the platform, game version, controller, and exact stick direction. The available official information does not identify a universal reset or a known issue that explains every such case.
The camera moves, but too quickly or slowly
Look for a camera-speed or sensitivity option only if your version displays one. Change one value at a time, return to gameplay, and test a repeatable movement. If no such setting appears, do not assume that a hidden sensitivity command exists. A speed difference that occurs only in Rebrushed should be reported as a game-specific behavior after the controller passes outside-game tests.
The camera will not stay where you aim
First establish whether the stick is sending unintended input. Repeated or drifting movement in another game points toward hardware. Stable behavior elsewhere but an unwanted Rebrushed camera position points toward the game’s camera logic, a local scene behavior, or a settings issue. Capture a short video if possible and note the exact location and action that precedes the camera change.
“How do I reset or recenter the camera?”
There is no documented, platform-wide Rebrushed recenter shortcut in the official material available for this guide. Check the controls or camera menu in your installed version; use a reset or recenter command only if it is explicitly shown. If it is not shown, avoid unofficial button combinations and report the reproducible behavior to the current support channel.
Use a controlled comparison instead of changing several things at once
When a first reconnect does not help, avoid changing the controller, cable, settings, and game area simultaneously. A simple comparison produces more useful evidence. Keep the same save, location, and action. Test the original controller, then a known-good compatible controller. If possible, test wired and wireless modes separately. Finally, repeat the input in another game or the platform’s controller test. Write down the result after each change.

This approach separates four possibilities: a controller or stick fault, a cable or wireless-link problem, a platform compatibility problem, or behavior confined to Rebrushed. It also prevents a false conclusion based on one successful button press. A face button can work while the camera stick drifts, or ordinary stick control can work while a special input mode does not.

Platform-specific checks
Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2
For the original Switch release, verify which controller or Joy-Con pair is assigned to the active player, then reconnect it through the console’s normal controller-management screen. Test each Joy-Con or the compatible controller as a complete input device in another game. For Switch 2, the Joy-Con 2 mouse-style control feature is a specific announced capability; it does not establish that mouse-style control is available on the original Switch or on other platforms. If the issue affects only that feature, compare ordinary stick control with the Joy-Con 2 mode and report which mode fails.
PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5
Confirm that the controller is assigned to the intended user and test it in another title. A wired reconnection can help separate pairing trouble from a Rebrushed-only symptom. Use the controls shown by your installed version rather than assuming that PS4 and PS5 expose identical options.
Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S
Reconnect the controller using the console’s standard wireless or USB method and test the same buttons and stick in another game. If the issue is present across games, investigate the controller or connection. If it is exclusive to Rebrushed, preserve the game version and symptom details for support.
PC
Remove competing controllers and input layers temporarily, reconnect the intended controller, and test it in another game or the operating system’s controller test. Record whether the device is connected by USB, Bluetooth, or another adapter. Do not assume that a controller recognized by Windows or another operating system is automatically supported by every Rebrushed control path; verify behavior in the game and with the current PC storefront or publisher support route.

Rebrushed’s central play involves using paint and thinner to alter or restore the environment. THQ Nordic also describes dash, ground pound, and sprint as new moves. These actions make reliable directional, trigger, and camera input important when lining up a jump, selecting a surface, or moving through a platforming section. They explain why a small input fault can feel severe, but they do not prove that a particular move causes controller damage or that a camera problem has one universal cause.
When a controller replacement is appropriate
Consider a compatible game controller for your platform only when the existing device fails the same tests in multiple games, shows obvious stick drift or button failure, or a known-good controller resolves the problem. Check the platform’s compatibility requirements before buying. A replacement is not an established fix for a camera behavior that occurs only in Rebrushed with multiple working controllers.

There is no verified universal price, brand, or controller model that can be recommended for every version. The relevant cost decision is conditional: use an existing spare first, then consider repair or replacement only when repeated outside-game tests point to the original device. Keep receipts and compatibility information if you buy a controller, since platform support and connection features differ.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Escalate with a useful support report
Contact the current support route for your platform and the full game after completing the basic isolation tests. Steam’s demo support page lists [email protected] and identifies THQ Nordic as publisher and Purple Lamp as developer. That page is specifically for the demo, so verify that the address or support form is still the correct channel for the full release and for non-Steam platforms.
Include these details in one message:
- Platform and exact console model or PC setup.
- Whether you own the full game or are using a demo.
- Game version, and the date the problem started.
- Controller model, wired or wireless connection, and any adapter in use.
- The exact buttons or stick directions affected.
- Whether the same input fails in another game or the platform input test.
- Whether another compatible controller reproduces the problem.
- Any recent pairing, cable, settings, system, or game changes.
- The area, action, and repeatable steps that trigger the camera behavior.
- A short video or screenshots when they show the issue clearly.
This information lets support distinguish a controller fault from a Rebrushed-only control or camera issue without asking you to repeat generic steps.
What the official statements do—and do not—confirm
THQ Nordic’s September 17, 2024 developer diary says the remake’s graphics, camera, and interface were improved. That is a product-level statement, not a list of sensitivity settings, button mappings, recenter commands, or acknowledged fixes. Warren Spector, Creative Director, said the team felt responsible for providing “the best Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed journey” for players. Neither statement supplies a platform-by-platform controller matrix, a universal camera reset procedure, or a prevalence or success rate for any repair.
Use the symptom-and-platform process above, keep hardware and software diagnoses separate, and escalate unresolved Rebrushed-only behavior with reproducible details. That approach avoids claiming a fix that the available documentation does not establish.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I fix controller problems in Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed?
Identify the exact failed button or stick, reconnect the controller, check its charge, and test the same input in another game or the platform’s controller test. If it fails elsewhere, investigate the controller, cable, wireless link, or platform connection. If it works elsewhere but fails only in Rebrushed, check the game’s displayed control options and contact the current platform or publisher support route.

First test the camera stick outside Rebrushed. A missing, drifting, or repeated input in other games suggests hardware or connection trouble. If the stick works normally elsewhere, review the controls and camera options shown in your version, restart the game, and report the reproducible Rebrushed-only behavior with your platform and game version.

How do I reset or recenter the camera?
No platform-wide recenter shortcut is documented in the official material. Check your installed version’s controls or camera menu and use a reset command only if it is explicitly displayed. Do not rely on an unverified button combination.
Does Rebrushed support my controller?
Compatibility depends on the platform, controller model, connection type, and game version. Rebrushed is listed for Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with Switch 2 availability announced on October 6, 2026. Verify your specific controller through the platform and current game support information rather than assuming recognition by the operating system guarantees support.
Could a new controller fix the camera?
Only if the original controller fails the same input tests in multiple games or a known-good controller resolves the problem. If two working controllers show the same camera behavior only in Rebrushed, replacement hardware is unlikely to fix it.
Is wired control better than wireless for Rebrushed?
There is no evidence that one connection type is categorically better. Testing both, when supported, can isolate wireless pairing or interference from a damaged cable or port. Keep the game area and inputs identical during the comparison.
What should I send support?
Provide the platform and model, full-game or demo status, game version, controller and connection type, exact affected inputs, outside-game test results, recent changes, the area and action that trigger the camera behavior, and a short video or screenshots if they demonstrate the issue.
The Bottom Line
Test the controller outside Rebrushed before treating a camera symptom as a hardware failure. Check only the controls and camera options your version actually displays, keep platform-specific instructions separate, and document repeatable Rebrushed-only behavior for the current support channel. A replacement controller is a conditional hardware remedy, not a universal camera fix.
