Start by identifying where the failure occurs. A crash to desktop points to the game client, files, drivers, or operating system; rubber-banding and disconnects usually point to your network path; a missing lobby or Error 107 can be a platform-service outage; and Error 130 is a server-load condition. Apply the least disruptive fix for that layer before reinstalling anything.
Haunted by Daylight is a recurring, time-limited event in Dead by Daylight, so its realm, rewards, queue behavior, and dates can change each year. The latest official event guide covered October 14 through November 4, 2025. That schedule is not a 2026 announcement, and no authoritative 2026-specific fix list or event schedule is established here.

Identify the failure before changing settings
Write down the platform, the exact error text, and the point at which the problem appears. Launch, lobby, loading screen, Trial, and post-match failures often have different causes. Also note whether other players or services are affected. One computer failing while another device works suggests a local problem; several players failing at once suggests a platform or game-service issue.

PC crashes and launch failures
Behaviour Interactive’s official PC sequence is deliberately conservative: confirm the hardware can run the game, check the connection, update audio and video drivers, update DirectX and Windows, verify the installation through your store, perform a clean boot, and reinstall only if those checks fail. Work through the sequence in order so you know which change helped.

1. Confirm the basic requirements
Compare your computer with the current minimum requirements shown on the Dead by Daylight store page. Check available storage, system memory, graphics hardware, and operating-system support. A machine that previously ran the game can still fall below a revised requirement after a major update. Close the game before checking or changing hardware and driver settings.
2. Update Windows, graphics, and audio drivers
- Open Settings → Windows Update, install all available updates, restart, and check again until no further restart is requested.
- Install the latest stable driver for your graphics processor from its manufacturer, then restart. If the crash began immediately after a driver update, use the manufacturer’s rollback option or install the previous stable release instead.
- Update the motherboard or system audio driver as well. Audio-driver faults can crash a game during the menu or loading sequence even when video appears normal.
Do not run a driver installer while Dead by Daylight is open. Record the driver version and installation date; that information is useful if support asks when the crash began.
3. Update DirectX and the game
Install the DirectX components offered through Windows Update or the game’s official installer, then restart. In your platform client, allow Dead by Daylight to finish downloading every pending patch. A partially applied event update can produce a launch crash or an error while entering the event realm.

4. Verify the game files
Verification replaces missing or corrupted files without deleting your account or progression.
- Steam: open Library, right-click Dead by Daylight, choose Properties, open Installed Files, and select Verify integrity of game files. Wait for the process to finish before launching.
- Epic Games Store: open Library, select the three-dot menu beside Dead by Daylight, choose Manage, and select Verify. Let the client complete any replacement download.
Do not interrupt verification by launching the game from a desktop shortcut. Start it from the platform library after the client reports completion.

5. Perform a clean boot
A clean boot starts Windows with nonessential third-party services and startup programs disabled. It is useful when overlays, recording tools, hardware monitors, security utilities, or custom audio software conflict with the game.
- Press Windows + R, type
msconfig, and press Enter. - On the Services tab, select Hide all Microsoft services, then choose Disable all.
- Open Task Manager from the Startup tab and disable nonessential startup items.
- Restart Windows and launch Dead by Daylight from Steam or Epic.
- If the crash stops, re-enable services and startup items in small groups, restarting each time, until the conflicting program is identified.
- When finished testing, return to
msconfig, choose Normal startup, and restart so your ordinary services run again.
Do not permanently disable security software. Use the clean boot only to isolate a conflict, then update, configure, or remove the program responsible.
6. Reinstall only after the reversible checks
Uninstall Dead by Daylight through the platform client, restart the computer, and install it again to a drive with adequate free space. Reinstalling will not fix a platform outage, router problem, or server-load error, so do not use it as the first response to Error 107 or Error 130.
Why patch context matters
A September 2024 hotfix listed several named crash fixes while noting that PC performance and optimization issues were still under investigation. If your crash began immediately after an update, record the game version and consult the current patch notes and support announcements before changing many local settings. A later hotfix may be the correct remedy.
Fix lag, rubber-banding, and unstable matchmaking
Lag is a connection symptom, not a single setting. Wi‑Fi interference, a saturated connection, DNS problems, strict NAT, firewall rules, and a service outage can all look like a slow game. The official network guidance recommends testing each part of the path.

1. Try a wired connection
If you are on Wi‑Fi, connect the computer or console directly to the router with an Ethernet cable. Confirm that the connector fits both devices and that the cable is long enough to avoid tension or a loose plug. A wired connection is typically more stable than wireless, but it cannot correct an outage or an overloaded game server. If wiring is impossible, move the router closer, remove obstructions, and use the less congested wireless band supported by your equipment.

Run a speed test on the same device, then repeat it when no one else is using the connection. Compare download and upload results, but also watch for a test that fails, changes sharply, or reports high latency or packet loss. There is no official universal latency threshold in the available guidance, so do not treat one number as a guaranteed pass or fail. A stable, repeatable result is more useful than a single peak speed.
3. Stop competing traffic
- Pause game, operating-system, and cloud-storage downloads.
- Close video streams, browser tabs with live media, voice applications, and screen-sharing sessions.
- Quit launchers that are updating another title in the background.
- On a shared network, ask other users to pause large transfers while you test a match.
After closing applications, fully exit and relaunch Dead by Daylight from the platform library rather than a stale shortcut.
4. Restart and hard-reset the router
- Exit the game and shut down the computer or console.
- Unplug the router and, if separate, the modem or fiber terminal.
- Wait at least 30 seconds. Reconnect the modem or terminal first, allow it to stabilize, then reconnect the router.
- Wait until the normal status lights return, restart your device, and test one match.
A reset clears transient state; it does not change your internet plan or repair a provider outage. Do not press the router’s factory-reset button unless you are prepared to restore its configuration.
5. Flush DNS on Windows
Open Windows Terminal or Command Prompt as an administrator and run:

ipconfig /flushdnsYou should see a confirmation that the DNS resolver cache was cleared. Restart the game afterward. This addresses stale local name-resolution data, not packet loss or a remote service outage.
6. Check NAT and firewall access
Review the network test in your console or router interface and note whether NAT is open, moderate, or strict. A strict NAT can prevent peer connections or make matchmaking unreliable. Follow your router manufacturer’s documented steps rather than enabling broad, permanent port forwarding without understanding the security impact.
In Windows, open Windows Security → Firewall & network protection → Allow an app through firewall. Ensure Dead by Daylight and its platform client are allowed on the network profile you actually use. If the game is missing, use Allow another app and select the installed executable. Test with your security product configured according to its documentation; do not leave the firewall disabled.
7. Update every layer
Install pending Windows, game, graphics, audio, and platform-client updates. A client and server on different supported patch levels can fail at the lobby or loading screen even when ordinary web browsing works.

Error 107: network reconnection or service outage
Behaviour Interactive states that “Error 107 happens after a network disconnection/re-connection.” Treat it as a connection or service-path problem first. Repeatedly verifying files or reinstalling will not restore a platform that is offline.

- Check the status page for the service you use: Steam, Epic Games, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, or GeForce NOW.
- Check whether other online games or store functions on the same platform are failing.
- If the platform reports an incident, wait for recovery and avoid repeated login attempts that can create additional session errors.
- If the platform is operational, follow the wired-connection, router, DNS, NAT, and firewall steps above.
- On Windows, add Dead by Daylight as a specific firewall exception if it is not already allowed, then restart the game.
If Error 107 appears only once after a brief Wi‑Fi drop and does not return, it may have been a transient reconnection. If it repeats in every lobby while the service-status page is normal, record the time, platform, region, network type, and exact message for support.
Error 130: wait before troubleshooting your hardware
Behaviour Interactive defines Error 130 as unusually heavy server load caused by many people launching Dead by Daylight at once. It is not evidence that your graphics card, DirectX installation, or router is defective.
- Close the error and wait 15–30 minutes, the interval given in the official guidance.
- Retry once from the platform library rather than starting multiple copies of the game.
- If the error still occurs, check for an official incident or event announcement and try again later.
- Contact support if Error 130 continues after 24 hours, including the platform, account region, timestamps, and screenshots.
Do not spend the waiting period reinstalling unless you also have an independent launch or file-integrity symptom. A local reinstall cannot reduce demand on the server.

The event is not a permanent mode with one fixed ruleset. The official 2024 guide listed Haunted by Daylight for October 17–November 7, 2024 and described the Void Realm, Void Crystals, Captured Haunts, Event Tome rewards, cosmetics, and daily rewards. The 2025 guide listed October 14–November 4, 2025 and again described the Void Realm and daily rewards. The 2022 guide documented an official shop, seasonal Halloween collections, event cosmetics, and Void Energy deposited into Unstable Rifts.
Those historical dates and mechanics explain why an event button, reward track, or realm can disappear outside its published window. They do not establish a 2026 schedule. Until Behaviour Interactive publishes a 2026 announcement, treat dates, mechanics, and claims of event-specific “known fixes” as unverified. A normal Dead by Daylight match working while an expired event entry fails is a schedule or service question, not proof that your installation is corrupt.

What to include when contacting support
Support can act faster when the report distinguishes a crash from a disconnect. Include:
- Platform and store or console family.
- Windows version and graphics/audio driver versions for PC reports.
- Exact error number and text, including whether it was 107 or 130.
- Date, UTC time, region, and whether the failure happened at launch, in the lobby, while loading, in a Trial, or after a match.
- Whether Ethernet and another network changed the result.
- Whether the official platform-status page showed an incident.
- Crash logs, screenshots, or video when requested by support, with personal information removed.
For Error 130, mention how long it persisted; the official escalation point is 24 hours. For Error 107, state whether a disconnection immediately preceded the message and whether the network recovered afterward.

A service-status incident, a widespread matchmaking failure, or Error 130 during a major event launch requires patience rather than more local changes. Conversely, a crash that follows the same loading step on one PC, or lag that disappears on Ethernet, gives you a concrete local lead. Keep a short timeline of each change and its result; it prevents cycling through the same fixes and gives support actionable evidence.
