Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is worth considering if you want a substantial, dark Arthurian open-world RPG built around exploration, quests, combat, and character customization. The Standard Edition is the sensible place to start; the Supporter extras are optional, while Sanctuary of Sarras is the main paid expansion. Try the demo first if you are unsure about the game’s feel or, on PC, how it runs on your machine.
What kind of game is Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon?
Set centuries after King Arthur’s fall, the game reimagines Arthurian legend as mature dark fantasy. It is an open-world role-playing game with first- and third-person perspectives, branching choices, voiced characters, quests, and exploration across three zones. Its systems include melee combat, bows, magic, throwables, alchemy, crafting, fishing, farming, cooking, mining, and house management. The Steam listing notes blood, moderate brutality, and dark story themes in its mature-content description.
The official store advertises 50–70 hours across the three zones. That is the developer’s estimate, not a guaranteed playtime; your pace and how much optional content you pursue will affect the total. The US PlayStation Store showed 4.29 out of 5 from 9,854 ratings at its 2026 snapshot. Launch-period coverage highlighted the dark Arthurian setting, while later PC Gamer coverage reported continued attention to polishing Act Three and technical updates. That is useful context for a game that has received updates, but it does not establish its current performance on a particular platform or PC configuration. Which edition should you buy?
Start by checking what you already own and the exact contents shown by your platform. Store editions and bundles can differ, and a Supporters Pack listed as DLC is not necessarily the base game.

Is Sanctuary of Sarras worth buying?
Sanctuary of Sarras is the first full-fledged expansion described by the official store. The developer estimates 10–15 hours of new adventures. It adds a storyline involving Nimue and Arthur’s deserters, a distinct sea-shaped setting, more than 20 dungeons and interiors, new characters and bosses, over 100 equipment pieces, and three new skill trees. It is the relevant paid add-on if you have finished—or expect to want more of—the base game. If you are a new buyer and already committed to the expansion, compare the Adventure Pack and Excalibur Edition on your platform. Otherwise, start with the base game and decide later. Prices depend on region, platform, edition, and current promotions. The US PlayStation Store page showed a Standard Edition original price of $44.99, but its displayed discount dates had already passed relative to the 2026 access snapshot. Steam’s accessed listing showed a promotion in Polish złoty. Neither is a reliable current price for every buyer; check the live local listing for the edition you want. Steam’s vendor-listed minimum PC requirements are Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel i5 8th-generation CPU or AMD equivalent, 12 GB RAM, a GTX 1060 6 GB or equivalent graphics card, DirectX 11, and 31 GB of storage. The minimum target is low settings at 30 FPS in Full HD, and an SSD is strongly recommended. The official store lists an RTX 2070 Super and i7 13th-generation CPU in its recommended column.
