- Open Start > Settings.
- Choose Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
- Select Windows Update, then choose Run the troubleshooter.

3. Remove nonessential external hardware
Shut down the PC and disconnect nonessential USB drives, hubs, printers, cameras, card readers, and other external devices. Leave only the keyboard, mouse, display, network connection, and any device required to start the installation. Restart and run the update or upgrade again. 7. Escalate with the update evidence
If the troubleshooter, restart, hardware removal, security check and permission review do not resolve the failure, contact Microsoft support. What to do if Windows will not boot
Separate a startup failure from a running-system error

If a game or application shows the code
A code displayed inside a game launcher, productivity program, or other application may belong to that program rather than Windows.
