If the code accompanies a crash, black screen, or unexpected restart
Microsoft explains that unexpected restarts can result from hardware, a device driver, or software. The first question is whether something changed immediately before the failures began.
Remove recently added hardware
- Power the computer down normally if possible. If it is unresponsive, use the manufacturer’s safe shutdown procedure rather than repeatedly pulling power.
- Disconnect or remove hardware added immediately before the first crash. This can include an external device, expansion card, memory module, storage device, or adapter. If you are not comfortable opening the case, have a qualified technician perform internal removal.

Startup
Note whether the message appears before the sign-in screen, immediately after signing in, or only when a particular program launches. Record the full text and any application or service name. - Open a relevant event and copy its Source, Event ID, level, timestamp, and general description. Save the details rather than copying only the code.
