If Farming Simulator 25 feels laggy in PS5 multiplayer, first work out whether the problem is delayed vehicle response or high latency, or a brief visual freeze. For delayed response, check the host’s connection and your route to the session; for stutters, also check game-update timing and performance. There is no confirmed universal fix, so use the checks below to narrow down what is affecting your session.
First, identify what “lag” looks like
- Delayed response or high latency: inputs take time to register, or a latency indicator is high. Start with the host and network checks.
- Brief visual hitch or freeze: the picture pauses or stutters. This is not automatically a network problem; game performance or update timing may also be relevant.
These symptoms can overlap, and identifying one does not by itself prove the cause. GIANTS Software’s Network Guide discusses host upload and latency, while its versioned changelog separately records performance changes and shader-recompilation stutters.
Check the player hosting the farm
When you join another player’s hosted game, the host’s connection matters to everyone in the session. GIANTS says multiplayer is mainly shaped by the host’s upload speed and recommends at least 5 Mbit/s upload for the player creating the game. It also advises choosing the player with the fastest connection as host and keeping latency between host and clients low. This is general guidance, not a PS5-specific minimum or a guarantee that a session will run smoothly.
If practical, try the same group with the player who has the strongest upload connection hosting. If the issue changes, note which host was used; that comparison is useful evidence, not proof that upload speed was the only factor.

Compare Ethernet with Wi-Fi
If the PS5 uses Wi-Fi, test a wired Ethernet connection to the router if possible. GIANTS recommends wired networking to help reduce latency and data loss, and PlayStation also recommends a wired connection where possible in its PS5 server-connection guidance. Ethernet is a useful diagnostic comparison, not a guaranteed fix.
If a cable test is impractical, try moving the console closer to the router and reducing obstacles between them. Record whether the symptom changes when you switch connection type or location.

Check PSN and your home network
- Check PlayStation Network status for a service issue.
- Restart the PS5, then restart the modem and router.
- If you use Wi-Fi, improve the console’s placement and reduce obstructions.
- Check whether the router has a firmware update, following its manufacturer’s instructions.
PlayStation’s connectivity guidance also lists advanced network changes such as port settings, a static IP address, and DNS changes. Those are not routine first steps or confirmed Farming Simulator 25 fixes; avoid changing them unless you understand the router settings or are following relevant support instructions.
Update the game—and account for first-launch stutter
Install available Farming Simulator 25 updates. GIANTS’ changelog is versioned and has included multiplayer synchronization and performance fixes over time, so check the live official changelog for current release details rather than relying on an old patch number.

A PS4 or PS5 console with a wired connection via a LAN cable is recommended. If hitching began immediately after a major update, the timing may matter. In its Patch 1.5 announcement on 2025-01-28, GIANTS community manager Benni | Blaeddataig warned that the first launch after a major update may stutter while shaders are recompiled. Let the game run, then compare again later. That historical note describes a possible update-related behavior; it does not establish that every later hitch has the same cause.
Compare sessions to isolate the problem
If the basic checks do not help, change one session variable at a time where practical. Note whether the issue occurs with one host or every host, on a player-hosted farm or dedicated server, and in same-platform or cross-platform play. If the host and all players can do so consistently, a temporary test without optional mods can also help compare setups.

Forum posts contain player reports of connection problems across platforms and server setups, including multiplayer server-connection reports from May 2025 and a December 2023 PS5 connection report for Farming Simulator 22. These are anecdotes, not controlled tests or evidence of a confirmed Farming Simulator 25 cause. A server restart or removing mods is therefore a test to consider, not a universal remedy.

- Your PS5 game version and the exact symptom.
- Whether you host or join, and whether the session is player-hosted or on a dedicated server.
- The platforms in the session, including whether it is cross-platform.
- Whether the PS5 is wired or on Wi-Fi, and any latency or ping value shown.
- Whether single-player also hitches, and whether the issue affects one session or several.
- Whether it began after an update or a change to the setup.
GIANTS’ support guidance asks players to provide the platform and exact error, and requests a log file where available. For a console case, include a log only if you can access one; do not assume a PC log-file procedure applies to PS5.
PS5 multiplayer context
The PlayStation Store listing identifies Farming Simulator 25 as a PS5 title and states that online play supports up to six players and requires PlayStation Plus: Farming Simulator 25 on PlayStation Store. Those listing details describe online-play availability, not a performance target or latency threshold.
