Then check the correct Locker category, remove active filters, reveal archived items, and look for alternate styles inside the cosmetic’s Edit menu. These checks separate an item that is merely hidden from an entitlement that is missing from the account.
If Fortnite specifically told you that an item or V-Bucks were removed, follow Epic’s removal guidance instead of treating the problem as a normal Locker search. If the cosmetic still cannot be found after the checks below, open a support ticket with Epic. You do not need to buy another copy, accessory, or replacement product to restore a digital entitlement.

Use this order to find a missing Fortnite cosmetic
Work through the checks in sequence. Each one addresses a different cause, so a filter problem should not be treated as proof that your purchase was revoked, and a missing name or rarity label should not be treated as proof that the cosmetic entitlement disappeared.
- Confirm the Epic account. Make sure the signed-in account is the one that purchased or earned the cosmetic.
- Look for a removal notice. A message saying that an item or V-Bucks were removed requires Epic’s removal-specific support route.
- Open the correct Locker category. Search the item type, such as Outfit, Back Bling, or Pickaxe.
- Clear Sort and Filter settings. An active filter can hide an owned item.
- Show archived cosmetics. Archived items remain on the account but are hidden from the normal Locker and Emote Wheel.
- Check the cosmetic’s styles. A pack style may be an option under Edit, not a separate listing.
- Re-add a style that will not save. Remove the cosmetic from the affected preset and add it again with the desired style.
- Contact Epic Support. Escalate after the search steps fail.

Do not skip directly to the last step because a cosmetic looks absent in one view. The same entitlement can be hidden by an account mismatch, a category selection, an active filter, or Archive. Styles and item details create different symptoms again. Recording what you see at each step makes it easier to identify the correct branch and gives support a clearer description if escalation is necessary.
1. Confirm the Epic account that owns the cosmetic
The most important check is entitlement ownership. Fortnite cosmetics are associated with an Epic account, so being signed in on the wrong account can make a legitimate purchase or earned reward appear to be missing. A console profile or device can be used with more than one Epic account over time, so recognizing the platform account is not enough by itself.
Compare the account with your purchase receipt
- Identify the Epic account currently signed in to Fortnite.
- Search your email for the receipt or confirmation connected with the cosmetic purchase.
- Compare the recipient email on that receipt with the email address for the account currently in use.
If the addresses do not match, switch to the Epic account associated with the receipt or entitlement before troubleshooting the Locker. This is especially important when a household has multiple Epic accounts, when console accounts have been linked at different times, or when more than one email address is used for purchases.
Check the entire address rather than relying on a display name. A similar-looking username, console gamertag, or profile avatar does not establish that two sessions use the same Epic account. If you have more than one receipt, compare each one with the account currently shown so that you do not accidentally investigate a different purchase.
If the cosmetic was earned rather than purchased, use the account that received the reward. A receipt is useful evidence for a purchase, but its absence does not by itself establish that an earned cosmetic was removed. Note the reward name and the account that claimed it, then continue with the in-game checks.
2. Separate a removal notice from an ordinary Locker search
Did Fortnite display a message saying that the item or V-Bucks were removed? If so, do not keep treating the issue as a hidden-Locker problem. Follow Epic’s removal-specific instructions from the in-game message or the missing-item support route.
A removal notice changes the diagnosis: the account may be responding to a transaction or entitlement action rather than simply hiding the cosmetic. Keep the message, receipt, and the account email available when you contact support. If no removal message appeared, continue with the Locker checks below.
Do not infer a removal from a blank search result alone. A cosmetic that is filtered, archived, or represented by a style can produce the same first impression without any entitlement action. Conversely, if the game explicitly identified removal, repeating category and filter searches will not resolve that account-level issue.

3. Search the correct Locker category
Open Locker and select the category matching the missing cosmetic. For example, search Outfit for a character, Back Bling for a back accessory, and Pickaxe for a harvesting tool. Other cosmetic types should be checked in their corresponding category rather than in a general view.
Search the category that describes the cosmetic itself, not the pack or bundle name. A bundle can contain several separate cosmetics, while an alternate appearance may remain attached to one base item. If you are looking for more than one part of a pack, check each relevant category separately and record which components appear.
A style or variant may be attached to an existing cosmetic, so do not assume that every item included in a pack receives its own separate tile. After locating the base cosmetic, use the style check in the later section. Finding the base item is evidence that the category search worked; it does not mean every style must have a second listing.

4. Clear every active Sort and Filter option
Filters are a common reason an owned item disappears from the visible list. A filter can narrow results without changing ownership, and it may remain active until you deliberately turn it off.
- In the relevant Locker category, open Sort and Filter.
- Turn off the active filters.
- Apply the change.
- Search the unfiltered category again.
Check for filters that limit the list by type, set, favorites, or other available attributes. The exact options can vary with the category and current Fortnite interface, but the corrective action is the same: return the category to an unfiltered view before concluding that the item is absent.
Apply the cleared settings before moving to another check. Otherwise, an old filter can continue hiding the cosmetic while you test Archive or styles and lead to a false conclusion. Once the complete list is visible, narrow it again only after you have confirmed that the item is present.
5. Check Archived items and unarchive the cosmetic
Archiving hides a cosmetic from the regular Locker and Emote Wheel; it does not delete the item from the account. Epic describes Archive as a way to hide cosmetics without deleting them in its guide, What is the Archive feature in Fortnite and how does it work?.

- Open the cosmetic category in Locker.
- Open Sort and Filter.
- Enable the option to show Archived items.
- Apply the setting and inspect the resulting list.
If the cosmetic appears, open its item menu and choose Unarchive Item. It will then return to the main Locker view. An archived item can therefore look missing during a normal search while remaining fully owned and recoverable.

Archive is a visibility control, not a refund or deletion control. Seeing an item in the archived view confirms that the account still has it. If you want it available on the ordinary Locker screen or Emote Wheel again, unarchive that specific item rather than changing account settings or purchasing it again.
6. Look for a pack style inside the cosmetic’s Edit menu
Some packs include alternate styles that are not listed as separate cosmetics. If you received a pack and can see the included outfit or other cosmetic but not the expected variant, select that cosmetic and choose Edit to view its available styles.
Epic documents this distinction in I can’t see the styles in my Locker after purchasing or receiving a pack in Fortnite. The base item’s presence in the Locker is not evidence that every included style should appear as another tile.

Searching the top-level category for the variant’s name can fail because the variant is an option attached to the base item. If the base cosmetic is absent as well, return to the account, category, filter, and Archive checks instead of assuming the style menu is the cause.
When a style is visible but does not stay in a preset
If the desired style is available in the item but a saved preset keeps reverting or fails to retain it, refresh the preset entry:
- Open the affected preset.
- Find the cosmetic whose style is not saving.
- Remove that cosmetic from the preset.
- Add the same cosmetic again.
- Select the desired style before saving the preset.
That procedure is Epic’s documented remedy for this specific behavior in The style of my cosmetics isn’t saving in the Fortnite Locker. It addresses preset behavior; it does not restore an entitlement that is absent from the account.
There are two separate questions here: whether the style exists on the cosmetic and whether a particular preset remembers it. If the style is selectable when you edit the item, the entitlement is present even if one preset does not retain the choice. If the style is not offered at all, verify the pack entitlement and account before treating it as a preset-saving problem.

Sometimes the cosmetic is present but its information is not displaying correctly. Epic has reported an issue in which some item details, including names and descriptions, may not appear as expected and says it is working on a fix. This type of notice concerns metadata on the item screen. It does not, by itself, show that the cosmetic entitlement was removed. If you can select and use the cosmetic, the problem is different from an item that cannot be found in any relevant category, filter view, or archive view.
When contacting support, state whether the tile is missing or whether the tile opens but lacks a name or description. Those observations point to different investigations. Do not describe a metadata display problem as a purchase loss if the cosmetic remains selectable and usable.
A missing rarity label is not the same as a missing item
Fortnite retired its old cosmetic quality color and tag system with version 29.20. As a result, an item may no longer show the rarity label or color a player remembers, even though the cosmetic remains owned. Epic explains this change in Why can’t I see the rarity of my cosmetic items in Fortnite?.

Use the item’s actual presence and usability as the test for ownership. Do not use a missing rarity badge as evidence that the cosmetic vanished. The retired label is a system change, whereas an entitlement problem prevents the item from being found or selected.

The order matters because each column describes a different layer of the problem. Account and removal symptoms concern entitlement. Category, filter, and Archive symptoms concern visibility. Styles and presets concern how an existing cosmetic is represented or saved. Names, descriptions, and rarity labels concern presentation. A fix from one layer cannot substitute for the support route in another.

Open an Epic support ticket if the cosmetic is still missing after you have verified the account, checked for a removal message, searched the correct category, cleared filters, displayed archived items, and inspected styles. Epic’s missing-item guide directs players to support after those search steps do not locate the item: I’m missing an item from my Fortnite Locker.
Include useful evidence in the ticket
- The Epic account email currently in use.
- The email address on the purchase receipt, if the cosmetic was bought.
- The cosmetic’s name and type, such as Outfit, Back Bling, or Pickaxe.
- Whether Fortnite displayed an item- or V-Bucks-removal message.
- Which category, filter, archive, and style checks you completed.
- Any receipt or account transaction information that identifies the entitlement.
Describe the exact branch that applies: an entitlement cannot be found, a style is not available, a preset will not retain a style, or item details are not displaying. Keeping those symptoms separate helps support address the account, Locker visibility, style, or metadata problem instead of investigating the wrong one.
If there was a removal notice, quote its wording as accurately as possible and identify whether it referred to the item, V-Bucks, or both. If there was no notice, say that explicitly after completing the search. A precise account email and receipt recipient address are more useful than a general statement that the Locker is empty.

Do not create a second purchase while waiting for an answer. The documented remedies are account verification, Locker controls, style and preset handling, and Epic Support. Buying the cosmetic again does not correct a wrong-account session, an Archive setting, or a missing entitlement review.

- Receipt email compared with the current account email where applicable.

- Correct Locker category opened.
- Sort and Filter options cleared.

Once the item is found, note which condition hid it so the same symptom is easier to recognize later. An archived cosmetic needs to be unarchived, a style belongs under the base item’s Edit menu, and a preset that will not retain a style needs the cosmetic removed and added again. Those are different fixes from an account-level missing entitlement.

Why did my Fortnite cosmetic disappear when I know I bought it?
First compare the Epic account currently in Fortnite with the email address that received the purchase receipt. If they differ, sign in to the account tied to the receipt. If they match, clear Locker filters, show Archived items, and check the base cosmetic’s Edit menu for a style. If Fortnite displayed a removal message, use the removal-specific support route instead.
Can an archived Fortnite item be recovered?
Yes. Archive hides cosmetics from the normal Locker and Emote Wheel without deleting them. In the relevant category, open Sort and Filter, show Archived items, open the cosmetic’s menu, and choose Unarchive Item.
Why is a Fortnite pack style not listed as another item?
