Close the game, restart your PC, then open HoYoPlay, choose the menu beside Start Game, and select Repair Now. Let verification and any downloads finish before launching again. HoYoverse recommends launcher repair for game-file problems, although it does not publish a current, exhaustive explanation of every cause of this specific code (HoYoverse common game errors).
Fix 31-4302 with HoYoPlay Repair Now
- Close Genshin Impact and HoYoPlay. If HoYoPlay remains open in the system tray, exit it there. If a process is stuck, use Task Manager to close it.
- Restart Windows. This can release game files still held open by a process.
- Open HoYoPlay directly from the Start menu or its installed location rather than relying on an old desktop shortcut.
- On the Genshin Impact page, click the menu or options button beside Start Game, then choose Repair Now.
- Wait for HoYoPlay to verify the installation and complete any replacement downloads. Do not interrupt the process.
- When repair is finished, close and reopen HoYoPlay, then test the game.
The current launcher label is Repair Now; older instructions may call the function “Repair Game Files” or “Repair Game.” Its position can vary between launcher versions. See HoYoverse’s repair steps.
What error 31-4302 means—and what it does not prove
The code is associated with a data or connection problem, and its historical message directed players to obtain the latest files from an official source. In practice, treat it first as a client-data integrity or version mismatch issue. HoYoverse’s current guidance supports repairing incomplete or corrupted game files, but does not identify one universal cause for 31-4302 (historical HoYoLAB notice; download and update troubleshooting).
Possible triggers include a failed update, manually copied update files, leftovers from an older version, unofficial modifications, antivirus interference, an unofficial installation, or HoYoPlay pointing at the wrong folder. These are possibilities to investigate, not a definitive diagnosis. The code alone does not establish that your account is banned, hacked, or lost.

If Repair Now does not resolve the error
Remove files added by mods or third-party tools
If you use ReShade or GShade, controller emulators, overlays, DLL injectors, mods, an unofficial launcher, or manually copied update packages, remove those additions or restore the installation to its official state. Then run Repair Now again. Do not download replacement DLLs or “fixed” game archives from file-sharing sites. HoYoverse recommends official update tools, and community discussions have associated extra or modified files with error 4302 (HoYoverse update guidance; HoYoLAB discussion).
Check antivirus quarantine if files keep disappearing
If repair repeatedly downloads the same files or extraction fails, open Windows Security or your installed security software and review Protection history or Quarantine. Restore a quarantined file only if you can confirm it belongs to the official installation. If you test an exception for the official game folder, do so temporarily, only after removing unofficial files, and restore normal protection afterward. HoYoverse lists antivirus interference as a possible cause of file-extraction errors; that does not show that any particular antivirus product is responsible for your code (HoYoverse file-extraction troubleshooting).

Make sure HoYoPlay is using the right installation folder
If the launcher cannot locate the game or behaves as if it is missing, use HoYoPlay’s Find Game or installation-location option and select the main Genshin Impact folder that contains the game executable. Do not select a parent folder or an unrelated nested folder. Once HoYoPlay recognizes the installation, run Repair Now again. Optional, unverified PC fallback: move the Plugins folder
An older community post reports that temporarily removing the Plugins folder and then repairing helped some PC players. This is not a current official HoYoverse fix, and the folder may contain files needed by the current client. Try it only if official repair has failed and you have a standard PC installation: close both the game and launcher, move the folder to the Recycle Bin or a backup location, then run Repair Now. Do not permanently delete it or remove other files based on an old forum list. If repair does not restore a working installation, reinstall from an official source. The reported folder path is:

When to do a clean reinstall
Reinstall if Repair Now completes but the code returns, the game was manually patched or copied from another installation, the folder contains unknown modifications, HoYoPlay repeatedly reports damaged files, or the launcher cannot reliably update or locate the game. A clean installation is more disruptive than repair, but avoids chasing individual files in a badly mismatched folder.
- Before uninstalling, record your UID, server, and account sign-in method. Do not share your password or verification codes.
- Uninstall Genshin Impact through the normal system or launcher process. Remove remaining game files only after confirming you have the correct installation directory.
- Restart the device, then download the installer from the official Genshin/HoYoverse source.
- Install into a new, empty folder and let the official launcher download and verify the files.
- Sign in using the same HoYoverse account and select the correct server. Check the UID to confirm you are on the expected account.
HoYoverse directs PC players to its official website and mobile players to Google Play or the App Store for downloads and reinstallations (official download guidance). Reinstalling the client is not normally the same as deleting server-side progress, but progress is associated with the account: make sure you can sign back into the correct one.

Android and iPhone or iPad
- Confirm Genshin Impact was installed through an official store or HoYoverse distribution channel.
- Restart the device and check that enough storage is available for an update or reinstall.
- Update the game through Google Play on Android or the App Store on iOS.
- If the error remains, uninstall and reinstall from the same official store.
- Sign in with the same HoYoverse account and check the server and UID.

Changing DNS or flushing it is not the first response to a local-data error. Focus on repair or reinstall when the game launches and immediately rejects its files. Network steps become relevant if HoYoPlay cannot download replacements, downloads repeatedly stop, or the launcher reports a connection or resource error. In that case, try a different network, restart the router, or use a wired connection; also check whether security software or a firewall is blocking the launcher. Avoid permanently disabling protection or creating random firewall rules. HoYoverse lists unstable networks, restrictions, security-software interference, insufficient storage, and incomplete downloads among possible update-failure causes (update-failure guidance).

Contact support if a clean official installation still produces 31-4302, if it happens on multiple devices after fresh installs, or if you also see signs of suspicious account activity. Use the official Help Center or in-game Feedback system when available; HoYoverse lists [email protected] as its global Genshin support email (contact support).
Include the details that help support identify the affected account, installation, and timing:
- Exact error text and code: 31-4302.
- UID and server or region.
- Platform, device model, and operating-system version.
- Date and time the error occurred, plus your country or region and ISP if requested.
- A screenshot or screen recording and a concise list of steps already tried.
- For PC: system specifications and the name of your antivirus or security software.
- HoYoPlay client log, uploaded through Settings → About → Upload Log.
- If present on PC,
