Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Check for a game update, fully restart your Xbox Series X|S, and, if the crashes continue, consider reinstalling the game. Aspyr has documented fixes for several specific crashes, but the available sources do not establish a current Xbox-wide problem or a single fix for every crash.
Try these steps in order
- Check for a game update. Look for an available update for Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered on your console and install it. Aspyr’s published notes document fixes for several specific crashes, but they do not identify a current Xbox version number or guarantee that an update will resolve a different crash. Aspyr’s support category lists Patch 1 and Patch 2, but that is not a live record of the newest Xbox build: Aspyr support: Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1&2 Remastered.
- Fully power off and restart the console. KOEI TECMO’s general Xbox Series X|S troubleshooting guidance says to hold the console’s power button for more than 10 seconds to turn it off, then turn it back on. This is general publisher support advice, not a title-specific fix: KOEI TECMO GAMES Support.
- If the crash persists, consider reinstalling the game. The same general support guidance includes reinstalling as a troubleshooting step and says the process will not delete save data. If you are concerned about your progress, confirm that your saves have synchronized before proceeding. Reinstalling may help; it is not a guaranteed fix for this game.
Which crashes has Aspyr documented?
Aspyr’s Patch 1 notes, dated January 30, 2025, list a fix for an occasional Soul Reaver 1 crash triggered when Raziel was killed by a flamethrower hunter: Aspyr Patch 1 notes.

Patch 2, dated April 1, 2025, lists several additional fixes:
- A crash after saving behind geometry and reloading in Soul Reaver 1.
- A crash from using telekinesis in a particular area of the Human Citadel.
- A crash associated with repeatedly viewing Chronoplast Visions.
The same Patch 2 notes also list a separate crash when switching to the “Corrupted” Lore tab with Russian language settings. That issue concerns the bonus-materials menu and a particular localization, rather than the in-game situations above: Aspyr Patch 2 notes.

Xbox’s backward-compatibility information says most Xbox One games are playable on Series X|S, while specific features can vary by game. That is general platform context, not an explanation for crashes in this remaster: Xbox backward-compatible games.
The cited guidance does not connect deleting saved data, factory-resetting the console, opening it, or buying accessories to this game’s crashes. Avoid those more disruptive steps unless Xbox or Aspyr support gives advice specific to your case.
