If the game lists MCCC but its menu is missing, that means the files were detected—not necessarily that the script initialized. Follow the checks below for the symptom you actually see.
Start with the game and MCCC versions
A Sims 4 update can disable mods, and an older MCCC release may not match the updated game. Check the game version displayed on the main menu, then compare it with the compatibility information on MCCC’s Downloads page. As of October 8, 2026, that page lists MC Command Center 2026.5.0 as tested with the September 22, 2026 game patch: PC 1.128.90.1030 and Mac 1.128.90.1230. The listing says the release may work with later updates unless the maintainer posts otherwise; earlier game versions may not be compatible. Recheck the live listing after a game update.

If the problem began after a patch, test the game before re-enabling mods. EA recommends checking that the game works correctly with mods disabled. Load a save and test in Live Mode, then exit without saving: EA warns that saving while mods are disabled can remove mod content from the save. Afterward, check MCCC’s compatibility notes, re-enable mods, and restart the game. Include your current game version if you report a mod issue to EA. See EA’s mod and game-update guidance.
Check that mods and script mods are enabled
- Open Game Options > Other.
- Enable Custom Content and Mods and Script Mods Allowed (the wording may vary slightly by game version).
- Apply the changes, restart the game, and check MCCC again.
EA’s installation guide also says to unzip downloaded ZIP or RAR archives, put the extracted files in the Sims 4 Mods folder, enable mods, and relaunch. Mods are supported on PC and Mac, not PlayStation or Xbox. EA does not pre-screen, endorse, or support specific mods; it advises downloading from a trusted creator. If MCCC does not appear in the game’s mod list
Check the extracted files and folder depth. MCCC’s required core script is mc_cmd_center.ts4script; other modules are optional. Keep the extracted MCCC files together in the Mods folder or one folder below it, for example The Sims 4/Mods/MCCC. Do not bury them in a deeper path such as The Sims 4/Mods/Script Mods/MCCC: the game searches only one level deep for script mods, according to MCCC’s installation guide.
When replacing an older MCCC version, remove its old .ts4script and .package files before copying in the new release. Keep your MCCC settings files, including mc_settings.cfg, mc_tuner.cfg, and mc_dresser.cfg.

If the folder still is not detected
As a diagnostic, temporarily place the MCCC files directly in the main Mods folder. If the game then lists them, MCCC’s troubleshooting guide identifies a possibly bad resource.cfg. Delete that file so the game can regenerate it, then restore the normal folder arrangement and test again. Follow the steps in MCCC’s troubleshooting guide.
If MCCC is listed but its menu is missing
A listing in the Custom Content or script-mod list confirms the game found files; it does not confirm MCCC loaded successfully. When MCCC initializes, it should show a startup notification. On a lot, its MC Command Center menu should also be available by clicking a Sim or a computer. If the files are listed but the notification or menu is absent, compare the MCCC and game versions first: MCCC identifies a version mismatch as a leading cause.

Use the log to check whether MCCC initialized
If the menu or behavior is still unclear, turn on Message Logging through MCCC Settings > Notification / Console / Menu Settings > Notification Settings > Message Logging. Check mc_cmd_center.log for an initialization line. MCCC’s guide says the log updates after nightly alarms, so its contents may not reflect the latest session immediately. If the game lists script files as loaded but the log does not exist, revisit version compatibility and folder depth, and inspect LastExceptions.txt. The guide is at MCCC troubleshooting.
If you see a Last Exception or gameplay error
A Last Exception is not proof that MCCC caused the problem. MCCC says these alerts are almost always due to an outdated mod or custom content—or a core EA error. Other mods and CC can conflict with MCCC or the game.

Isolate the conflicting mod with the 50/50 method
- Move mods out of the Mods folder and test the game to see whether the problem persists.
- Put a batch of mods back and test gameplay. EA suggests starting with game mods before custom content, because game mods are more likely to disrupt functionality.
- If the problem returns, split that batch in half and test each half.
- Keep halving the batch that reproduces the issue until you identify the faulty mod or group of files. Check those files for updates or remove them.

If MCCC reports PermissionError: [Errno 13] Permission denied and the error contains a OneDrive path, MCCC documents a specific possible cause: OneDrive is syncing the Mods folder or Sims 4 folder and preventing MCCC from writing settings. The creator recommends disabling that sync or locating the mod folder on a physical drive. This check is relevant to that error and path; it is not a general fix for every MCCC problem.
