If Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection will not launch, crashes, stutters, flickers, or skips cutscenes on PC, start by checking its current Steam requirements, then work through Capcom’s software, driver, and symptom-specific checks. If the game will not launch or frame rates suddenly drop
Check security software
Capcom says security software can falsely flag game files and prevent the executable from launching; it may also contribute to frame-rate drops. Its Customer Support post says: “Some launching issues and frame rate drops may be attributed to certain security software preventing the game executable from launching due to a false-positive error.” Review your antivirus and firewall exclusions for the game folder, Steam.exe, and Steam AppData, following your security vendor’s instructions. If they are already excluded, Capcom suggests removing and adding them again.

Try administrator access and check Windows and graphics drivers
Capcom suggests trying Steam with administrator privileges, then the game executable if needed. Install available Windows updates and update your graphics driver; restart Windows after installing a driver. If a standard update does not help, Capcom lists a clean graphics-driver installation as a later step. On a computer with both integrated and discrete graphics, check that the game is assigned to the intended high-performance GPU. Resetting graphics-driver settings may also help if they have been customized. Verify the game files and close competing software
- Verify files: In Steam, open the game’s Properties, select Installed Files, and choose Verify integrity of game files. Steam can replace missing or corrupted files.
- Close resource-heavy applications: Exit capture software, performance overlays, and other programs using substantial system resources, then test the game again.
- Clear the named shader cache files if trouble remains: In the game’s installation folder, delete
shader.cache,shader.cache2, andpipelinelist.binif they are present.

Low FPS, unstable frame rate, or stuttering
Set Graphics Settings to Low or Medium and test again. Check that the PC has adequate ventilation and is not overheating; Capcom also suggests limiting the frame rate. Cutscenes do not play
If you use Windows N or KN, try installing Microsoft’s Media Feature Pack. Capcom says some cutscenes use Windows Media Player codecs, which may be absent from those Windows editions. Capcom’s PC troubleshooting guidance
Compatibility or DirectX errors

Check Capcom’s NVIDIA driver notice before changing drivers
On March 26, 2026, Capcom reported crash-related issues with NVIDIA drivers including versions 595.79 and 595.97, and said it was investigating with NVIDIA. On April 2, Capcom said game version 1.0.04 fixed a bug related to GeForce RTX 50 graphics cards and certain drivers. The notice does not identify every affected driver or configuration, and it does not show that a particular crash has this cause.
