1. Check your PC against Steam’s requirements
Steam’s store listing specifies the following requirements and performance estimates for the PC version. Valve cautions that graphics-intensive scenes may drop frames; meeting the minimum requirements does not rule out a crash.

These are store-listed specifications and estimates, not a diagnosis of a particular crash. Confirm your Windows version, processor, RAM, graphics card, DirectX support, and available storage before trying symptom-specific steps. Steam store listing
2. Confirm the game has updated
Bandai Namco’s version 1.71 notes, dated September 30, 2026, say the update is available on PC through Steam and requires an internet connection to apply. In Steam, let any pending download finish before testing again. The listed changes cover BP and rank display, reward item availability, and minor bugs; they do not claim to fix crashing. 3. If opening Settings causes the crash, verify the game files
A GameSkinny guide dated November 19, 2023 describes crashes when entering Settings and exiting without changing anything, or when changing the Language option. For that specific symptom, it recommends verifying the game files through Steam. This is third-party guidance from 2023, not a publisher-confirmed fix for every crash or current build.
- Open Steam Library and right-click Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections.
- Select Properties, then Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files and allow Steam to complete the check.
- Launch the game and repeat the same Settings action that previously triggered the crash.

4. Optional workaround for the same Settings-menu crash
If verifying files does not help and the crash is still tied to the Settings menu, the same guide relays a Steam user’s workaround involving a temporary change to the display configuration. It is anecdotal, predates version 1.71, and is not confirmed by Bandai Namco. Do not treat it as a general fix for startup, gameplay, or online crashes.

- Make a separate copy of the game’s configuration file before experimenting, so you can restore it if needed. The guide does not identify a configuration-file path in the cited instructions.
- Temporarily change the display configuration using Windows + P or another display/resolution option.
- Open the game, apply the desired settings, and exit.
- Restore your original display configuration. If the game’s configuration needs recovery, use the backup you made.
Because the guide does not establish that this workaround applies to current builds, stop if you cannot safely identify and back up the relevant configuration file.

Community discussions include anecdotal reports of black-screen startup crashes, system crashes, and crashes during online play or after a match. Those reports conflict and do not establish a cause, a common failure rate, or a reliable fix. The 2026 version 1.71 notes do not list fixes for those crash types. Avoid drastic operating-system changes based only on isolated posts.
