1. Finish the latest NBA 2K25 update
2K’s NBA 2K25 error-code guide, published August 13, 2024 and updated September 4, 2025, identifies an incomplete latest update as the most common cause of these errors. Wait for the download to finish. When the game prompts you to return to the main menu, do so; the update applies during a loading screen. How long this takes depends on the update size and your connection speed.

If no update starts
2K says playing one or two games in Play Now can sometimes prompt the download. After the game, watch for the update message, return to the main menu when asked, and let the loading screen complete.
2. Check account verification and the console account limit

Sign in at nba2k.com with the MyPLAYER account. According to 2K, signing in completes account verification.

Use one of the first five NBA 2K accounts created on the console
2K says only the first five NBA 2K accounts created on a console are allowed to access its servers. If the account you are using was created after those first five, 2K says there is no workaround for that account; try one of the first five instead.
3. Let game data synchronize; do not delete reserved space
Deleting NBA 2K’s reserved space can cause errors such as EFEAB30C, according to 2K. If data is out of sync, choose Play Now and wait for the message confirming that all updates are complete. Synchronization can take up to several hours in some cases, so do not assume it has failed just because it is not immediate.

4. Fully restart NBA 2K25 on Nintendo Switch
2K notes that the error can occur shortly after installation on Switch. Its NBA 2K25 guidance recommends a full power-off and restart:
- Hold the Switch’s power button.
- Select Power Options, then Turn Off.
- Turn the console back on and launch NBA 2K25.
5. Test your network if the error or other connection problems persist
2K’s general console network troubleshooting guide recommends checking whether other devices can access the internet, running the console’s network test, and trying a wired connection directly to the router. These are general connectivity checks, not replacements for completing the game update or addressing account and data issues.

- On PS5, the network test is at Settings > Network > Connection Status > Test Internet Connection. Menus differ on other platforms; use the current platform-specific guide.
- To restart networking equipment, unplug the router and modem for 60 seconds, reconnect them, and test again.
- If downloads or streaming are using much of your bandwidth, try again when the network is less busy.

6. Contact 2K Support with useful diagnostics

Include these details with your support request so the issue can be investigated with relevant connection information.
