Because those dates differ and store details can change, use the live listing for current availability. Use Apple’s basic app recovery steps in order. They apply to apps generally; they do not establish a particular No Man’s Sky crash cause.

- Force close and reopen the game. Open the iPhone’s app switcher, find No Man’s Sky, swipe its preview up to close it, then open it again.
- Restart your iPhone. After it restarts, try launching the game again.
- Check for a game update. Open the App Store and check for available updates for No Man’s Sky.
- Check for an iOS update. If no game update is available, check for an iOS update in Settings > General > Software Update.

The game freezes during play
Start with the same force-close, restart, and update sequence. The game shows a black screen at launch
Hello Games has published a Game Center workaround for a general iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV game-launch problem. The article dates from 2020 and does not verify that the method works for No Man’s Sky’s iOS version. - Force close the game.
- Open Settings > Game Center and sign out.
- Launch the game. If a Game Center sign-in prompt appears, cancel it.
- If the game opens, relaunch it and sign back in to Game Center.
If Game Center is not accessible in Settings, Hello Games’ article recommends hard-resetting the device and trying again. See Hello Games’ black-screen guidance. This is not a guaranteed or No Man’s Sky-specific fix.

Reinstall only after weighing the save-data risk
Apple lists deleting and redownloading an app as a further step, but warns that deleting it may lose data stored in the app. The sources cited here do not establish how No Man’s Sky iOS saves sync or whether a deleted save can be recovered. Do not assume your save is backed up before removing the game.
The US App Store listing reports a download size of 3.8 GB. Check available iPhone storage before reinstalling, and make sure you are comfortable with the possibility of losing locally stored app data. The listing’s size is not evidence that low storage causes this game to crash.

Contact Hello Games if the problem persists
If the game still crashes after the basic steps, report the issue through the Hello Games Help Centre. Include useful details so the team can understand what happened:
- Your exact iPhone model and iOS version.
- The game version, if available.
- Whether the problem occurs at launch, on a black screen, or during play.
- What you did immediately before the crash, and whether repeating those steps causes it again.
- Screenshots or crash details, if available.

What is—and is not—known about the iPhone version
Hello Games described the mobile release as the full game with more than forty major updates and said multiplayer is not supported on iOS. Planetary Settlements require iPhone 15 Pro or above. The developer also said, “We have rebuilt touch controls from the ground up to make No Man’s Sky feel totally at home on mobile.” These are release details, not evidence that a particular device feature or setting prevents crashes.
