If Roblox closes, freezes, or disappears without showing an error, start by restarting Windows, closing overlays and unofficial Roblox tools, and testing a different experience. If every experience crashes, switch between the official Roblox desktop and Microsoft Store versions, then perform a clean reinstall. Driver, Windows-system-file, antivirus, background-software, and hardware problems are the other common possibilities.
These steps apply to Roblox Player on Windows 10 and Windows 11. Mac, console, mobile, and browser-only problems require different troubleshooting.

First, identify what is actually crashing
A silent Roblox failure can happen at several points:

- The window appears briefly and disappears.
- Roblox freezes and becomes unresponsive.
- The client crashes only after joining an experience.
- It crashes after several minutes or during demanding scenes.
- Only the desktop version or only the Microsoft Store version crashes.
- Only one particular experience causes the problem.
That distinction matters. If one experience fails while others work, its assets or scripts may be the cause. Roblox notes that some experience-specific loading problems must be addressed by the creator. If every experience crashes, investigate the client installation, graphics driver, Windows, security software, or background programs.

Quick fix: follow this order
- Restart Windows and test a different, simple experience.
- Close Discord, Xbox Game Bar, GPU overlays, OBS game capture, FPS counters, macro tools, and unofficial Roblox software.
- Try the other official Roblox distribution: the desktop installer from Roblox.com or the Microsoft Store app.
- Uninstall Roblox, delete the remaining
%localappdata%Robloxfolder, restart, and reinstall it. - Update Windows and your graphics driver. If the crashes began after a driver update, roll it back.
- Run DISM followed by System File Checker.
- If the problem continues, use a clean boot and inspect Reliability Monitor or Event Viewer.
1. Restart Windows and remove overlays
Close Roblox, then press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager. End any remaining Roblox processes, restart Windows, and test again.
For the test, close or disable—not permanently uninstall—software that hooks into games or graphics:
- Discord overlay and Xbox Game Bar
- NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel overlays
- OBS in-game capture
- MSI Afterburner, RivaTuner, and FPS counters
- Screen recorders, macro tools, RGB utilities, and hardware monitors
- Unofficial Roblox launchers, injectors, modified clients, and similar tools
Roblox’s anti-cheat guidance identifies modified or incompatible software as a possible cause. If you use OBS, desktop capture may avoid conflicts associated with in-game capture.

2. Check whether Roblox is having a wider outage
Check Roblox’s official status information and ask whether friends are seeing the same issue. If the website or status systems show a platform-wide incident, local repairs will not solve it. A client that vanishes from your computer, however, is more commonly a local installation, driver, software-conflict, or hardware problem than a normal connection issue. Roblox distinguishes client failures from connection and experience-specific problems.
3. Switch between the two official Windows versions
Roblox has an official desktop version installed through Roblox.com and an app distributed through the Microsoft Store. Testing the other one is a useful diagnostic comparison: the two installations can fail differently even on the same PC.

- Find Roblox and uninstall the version you currently use.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the alternative official version.
- Sign in and test it before re-enabling overlays or installing additional Roblox tools.
Roblox recommends switching between the Microsoft Store and desktop versions for some client launch failures. Neither version is universally more stable; the result depends on your Windows build, drivers, hardware, and the current Roblox release.
4. Clear the cache or perform a clean reinstall
Try the less disruptive cache test first
- Press Win+R.
- Enter
%localappdata%Robloxand press Enter. - Delete the
Cachefolder if it exists. - Launch Roblox again.
Cache files are local client data. Clearing them should not delete server-side account progress, although local settings, logs, or other cached data may be removed.

- Uninstall Roblox from Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
- Press Win+R and enter
%localappdata%. - Delete the
Robloxfolder if it remains. - Do not delete unrelated folders in AppData.
- Empty the Recycle Bin if you want the old files fully removed.
- Restart Windows.
- Install Roblox again from Roblox.com or the Microsoft Store.
Roblox’s launch troubleshooting guidance specifically recommends clearing the old local Roblox folder for certain client-side problems. Repeating a normal uninstall without removing leftover files can simply reproduce the same corrupted state.
5. Turn off compatibility mode
Compatibility mode can cause launch or graphics problems on a modern Windows installation.
- Find the Roblox shortcut or executable.
- Right-click it and choose Properties.
- Open the Compatibility tab.
- Clear Run this program in compatibility mode for.
- Select Apply → OK, then test Roblox.
Roblox recommends checking this setting in the relevant outdated-graphics scenario. Do not enable compatibility mode as a general fix unless Roblox Support gives you a specific reason.

6. Update Windows and the graphics driver
Install available updates through Settings → Windows Update. Then update the GPU driver through NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel’s official support site, or through your laptop manufacturer if it supplies customized drivers.
To identify your graphics hardware, right-click Start → Device Manager → Display adapters, or press Win+R, enter dxdiag, and inspect the Display tabs.
Roblox’s graphics troubleshooting guidance connects graphics failures with outdated drivers and insufficient graphics support. Its documented scenario refers to DirectX 10 or higher feature-level support; do not assume that Roblox universally requires DirectX 12.
If the crashes began after a driver update
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click your GPU and choose Properties.
- Use Roll Back Driver if the option is available.
If the driver is malfunctioning, Microsoft also documents uninstalling the device driver and scanning for hardware changes to reinstall it. Avoid third-party driver-updater utilities.
7. Repair the Microsoft Store version
Use this section only if you installed Roblox from the Microsoft Store.

- Find Roblox and open Advanced options.
- Select Repair first.
- If that does not help, select Reset.
- Launch Roblox and sign in again if necessary.
Repair attempts to fix the app without removing its data. Reset is more disruptive and may remove local app data or require another sign-in. Microsoft documents these options for supported Store apps in its Microsoft Store troubleshooting guidance.
8. Repair Windows system files
Open Windows Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin). Run the commands in this order:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealthAfter DISM completes, run:
sfc /scannowWait for each command to finish, restart Windows, and test Roblox. Administrator permission is required. A successful scan does not prove that Roblox is fixed; it only reports whether Windows found and repaired system-file corruption. Roblox includes DISM and SFC in its current launch troubleshooting for possible missing or damaged Windows files.

Antivirus or endpoint-security software can interfere if it blocks, quarantines, or modifies Roblox files. Do not disable protection permanently. Instead, inspect your security product’s quarantine or detection history, verify that Roblox came from an official source, and use its documented allow-list controls only when appropriate.

If Roblox shows an anti-cheat or boot-integrity message, remove unofficial clients, injectors, process-altering tools, and any software named in the message. Roblox also says its client may not function properly when Windows is configured in debug mode:

msconfig, and press Enter. - Open the Boot tab and choose Advanced options.
- Clear Debug if it is selected.
- Apply the change and restart Windows.
10. Use a clean boot to find background conflicts
If Roblox still crashes after a clean reinstall and driver update, test Windows with non-Microsoft services and startup programs disabled.
- Press Win+R, enter
msconfig, and press Enter. - Open the Services tab.
- Check Hide all Microsoft services.
- Disable the remaining non-Microsoft services.
- Open Task Manager from the startup controls and disable nonessential startup programs.
- Restart Windows and test Roblox.
Record what you changed and restore normal startup afterward. Never disable Microsoft services indiscriminately. If Roblox works in a clean boot, re-enable items in groups until the conflicting program is identified.
11. Find the crash record Windows kept
Reliability Monitor
Search Windows for Reliability Monitor. Find an application failure at the exact time Roblox closed. This often provides a clearer timeline than guessing from the symptom.
Event Viewer
- Right-click Start → Event Viewer.
- Open Windows Logs → Application.
- Also check Windows Logs → System.
- Match event timestamps with the Roblox crash.
Look for references to RobloxPlayerBeta.exe, Windows Error Reporting, a faulting module, a display-driver reset, or a hardware error. Use these records to classify the problem; do not randomly delete logs or change registry values.
What the symptom usually suggests

| Roblox and other games crash | Investigate Windows, GPU, RAM, thermals, storage, overclocking, or power problems. |
| Reinstalling changes nothing | Stop repeating reinstalls; perform a clean boot and inspect crash records. |
When Windows 10 or hardware may be the problem
Microsoft support for Windows 10 ended on October 14, 2025. That does not mean every Windows 10 PC immediately stops running Roblox, but a supported, fully updated Windows installation is the safer baseline.
If other games and applications also crash, Roblox may be exposing a broader instability issue. Possible causes include GPU overheating, unstable RAM, overclocking or undervolting, power-supply problems, a damaged Windows installation, failing storage, or a defective graphics card. Check temperatures and return hardware to stock settings before considering major Windows repairs. A factory reset should not be an early troubleshooting step.
Contact Roblox Support with useful evidence
If the client crashes across both official Windows versions and also fails during a clean-boot test, contact Roblox Support. Include:
