What Roblox Error 771 means
Roblox’s official ConnectionError enumeration names code 771 TeleportGameEnded. Roblox tried to move you to another destination, but that destination ended before you arrived. It may have shut down, become unavailable, or failed while starting. The code does not, by itself, prove that your internet connection is broken.
An experience can contain multiple places, and Roblox uses TeleportService to move players between places, servers, or experiences. For example, a main game may load normally while a portal to a separate level fails. In that case, the destination or the game’s teleport setup is a more likely cause than a graphics setting.
Nearby codes describe different problems: 770 means the destination game was not found, 772 means it was full, and 773 means the teleport was unauthorized. Check the number and message together rather than treating every teleport error as the same issue.

Fixes to try as a player
- Leave and retry from the experience page. Close the error, leave the current experience, reopen Roblox, and launch the experience from its main page. Retry once or twice. A fresh join may send you to a live destination, but repeated attempts will not repair a destination that is persistently broken.
- Choose another public server if one is available. A specific server may have shut down while you were joining. A different server can help if the game provides a server list; it will not help if the game’s own teleport target is invalid or unavailable.
- Fully restart Roblox. Quit the application rather than leaving it suspended, then launch the experience again. On mobile, force-close the app first. For a browser-based launch, close the Roblox client or launcher and start a new launch. This can reset a stale session, but cannot revive an ended destination.
- Compare with another experience. Try a different Roblox game. If only one experience—or one portal, elevator, or level—fails, report that specific destination to its creator. If several unrelated experiences fail, check service status and investigate your client or connection.
- Check Roblox Status. Look at Roblox Status, especially Games and Game Join. If there is an incident, wait for service to recover before trying again. Roblox explains what to expect during service interruptions in its outage guidance. The status page showed listed systems operational on August 18, 2026, when checked; that snapshot does not establish current status or whether an individual creator’s game is healthy.
- Update Roblox and your device. Install pending Roblox and operating-system updates, then restart the device. This is a general client-health check, not a confirmed specific fix for Error 771. Roblox notes that some outdated mobile operating systems may be unsupported and that virtual machines and cloud computers are not supported in its error-code guidance.
- Test the connection if multiple games are affected. If other services or devices on the same network are also unstable, restart the router; on a computer, compare with a wired connection if practical. You can test another network, such as a phone hotspot, to see whether the issue changes. Temporarily disable a VPN or proxy for comparison if you use one; neither is a standard fix for an ended destination.
- Check security software without disabling protection broadly. A firewall, antivirus, or router setting can interfere with Roblox connections. Roblox’s connection troubleshooting guide lists UDP ports 49152–65535. Manual port forwarding is not a first step and cannot bring back a server that has ended; avoid broad security changes unless you understand their effect.
- Reinstall only as a later client-side step. If Roblox fails across multiple experiences after restarting and updating, reinstalling may help with a damaged client installation. It is unlikely to fix one experience’s broken destination. Make sure you can sign in again before uninstalling.

When only the creator or Roblox can fix it
Player-side troubleshooting cannot repair a destination that the experience has unpublished, deleted, disabled, or made inaccessible. The same is true if a teleport script points to the wrong place, a server shuts down during the transfer, a reserved-server destination is no longer usable, or an experience update introduces a teleport failure. Roblox documents several possible teleport failure causes, including invalid destinations, network conditions, access settings, and incompatible parameters, in its TeleportService reference.
If the error happens reliably at the same in-game location, or began after an update, send the creator a concise report. Roblox’s general connection guidance also recommends providing identifying details and steps when contacting Support.

- Your Roblox username and the experience name or link.
- The exact portal, level, button, or destination that triggers the error.
- The error code and exact message, plus a screenshot if possible.
- Your device and operating-system version.
- Approximate date and time, including your time zone.
- Whether other Roblox experiences work and whether friends see the same issue.
- Steps to reproduce it and any recent device or network changes.
Contact Roblox Support if several unrelated experiences remain inaccessible, the problem persists across devices or networks, or the issue involves account access, moderation, or purchases. Use Roblox’s official channels; third-party “error repair” downloads are not needed.

Check that the target PlaceId is correct, published, and accessible, and confirm that the server is not being shut down during the transfer. Review access settings and ensure teleport options are valid and compatible—for example, do not combine a reserved-server access code with a specific public-server instance ID. Make teleport calls from the server using supported APIs, and test published experiences through the Roblox client; Roblox documents that normal Studio playtesting does not support these teleports in the same way.

Listen for TeleportService.TeleportInitFailed to capture failed attempts and decide whether a bounded retry is appropriate. Roblox’s event reference describes the failure event and retry information. Log the result, message, target place ID, and relevant options. Roblox’s teleport documentation shows example retry handling with a limit of five attempts, a one-second delay, and a 15-second delay for flooding; those are example values, not universal settings.
Retries should stop rather than loop indefinitely. Give players a clear failure message when the destination cannot be reached, and distinguish a transient failure from an invalid or inaccessible target.
