To troubleshoot Street Fighter 6 lag on PS5, first identify whether you have delayed inputs, online-match stutter, disconnections, matchmaking trouble, or slow gameplay even offline. Check PSN status and the PS5 connection, restart the game, console, and network equipment, then compare Wi-Fi with a wired connection if possible. These steps help narrow down the cause; no single setting is established as a universal fix.
Identify what kind of lag you’re experiencing
“Lag” can describe different symptoms, and the distinction matters before changing network settings.
- Delayed inputs or stuttering during online matches: Start with the network checks below, then compare matches against different opponents.
- Disconnections, communication errors, or failed matchmaking: Check PSN status, test the console’s connection, and note any error code.
- Slow or uneven gameplay offline too: Online-network troubleshooting may not explain it. Record when it happens and contact PlayStation or Capcom support if it persists.
A symptom that changes between online and offline play, or between opponents, is a useful diagnostic clue—not proof of a particular cause. Network instability and frame-rate or other performance issues should not be treated as the same problem.
Check PSN and test the PS5 connection
- Check PlayStation Network status for an outage or maintenance.
- On PS5, open Settings > Network > Connection Status > Test Internet Connection.
- If the console cannot connect or displays an error code, search that exact code in PlayStation’s PS5 error-code support. For example, PlayStation’s troubleshooting for CE-113524-6 includes connection testing and checking manually entered DNS settings; do not change DNS just because a match feels laggy.
Restart the game, console, and network equipment
Close and restart Street Fighter 6, then restart the PS5. If the connection problem remains, restart the modem and router and let them come fully back online before testing again. PlayStation’s instructions for NW-102315-2 say to wait at least five minutes before restarting the modem and router. Capcom’s general PS5 network troubleshooting also recommends restarting network equipment and waiting for it to recover.

Compare Wi-Fi with a wired connection
If your PS5 uses Wi-Fi, connect it to the router with an Ethernet (LAN) cable and test a match. PlayStation documents this setup path: Settings > Network > Settings > Set Up Internet Connection > Set Up Wired LAN > Connect. Capcom recommends trying wired connectivity where possible because wireless connections can be unstable.
A wired test is useful for checking whether the local Wi-Fi link is contributing to the issue; it cannot guarantee a better result. ISP routing, a service interruption, or the other player’s connection can still affect an online match. If you have a suitable cable available, you do not need to buy another one just to run this test.

If you need to stay on Wi-Fi
- Move the PS5 closer to the router and reduce walls or other obstructions between them.
- Retest when fewer household devices are using the connection. Capcom suggests temporarily reducing other devices’ network use as a diagnostic.
- Compare results before and after each change so you can tell whether the local wireless link appears relevant.
Compare opponents and online modes
If the problem happens only against one player, Capcom notes that the other player’s connection or compatibility between the two connections may contribute. Try another opponent and compare the online modes available in Street Fighter 6; matchmaking options are described in Capcom’s official web manual, including its Battle Settings section.
Do not repeatedly disconnect intentionally as a workaround. Capcom’s Online manual warns that repeated intentional disconnections can lead to penalties, including losing access to matchmaking.

Use router settings only with appropriate help
If basic checks do not help, note the PS5 error code and ask your ISP or router maker about filtering, ports, UPnP, NAT, or other network configuration. Capcom’s PS5 FAQ says NAT type 3 may affect PSN multiplayer and lists TCP ports 80, 443, 3478, 3479, and 3480, plus UDP ports 3478 and 3479, for PlayStation Network. That is PSN guidance, not a Street Fighter 6-specific port list. Router menus and safe settings vary by equipment and ISP; do not broadly expose the console or change advanced settings you do not understand. PlayStation likewise advises asking the ISP or network administrator if advanced settings are unfamiliar.
Check IPv6-only configuration only if it applies
PlayStation states: “Please note, PS5® consoles support IPv6 network connections but do not support IPv6-only network connections.” If your router is configured for IPv6-only, change it to support IPv4 as well, with help from your router maker or network administrator if needed. IPv6 itself is not established as a general cause of Street Fighter 6 lag.

When to contact support
If the PS5 connection test fails, use the exact error code to find the relevant PlayStation troubleshooting steps, then contact your ISP or network administrator when the issue appears to involve the connection or router. If lag also occurs offline or persists after connection checks, record the mode, circumstances, and any error messages, then contact PlayStation Support or Street Fighter 6 support. The documented network steps can narrow down connection problems, but they do not provide a complete diagnosis for every performance symptom.
