These instructions are for the Windows 10 or Windows 11 Steam version played with a keyboard and mouse. Paths for Epic, Microsoft Store, cloud gaming, mobile, emulators, or unofficial builds can be different.
Identify the failure before changing anything

Check the PC and launcher
Open the live Stumble Guys Steam listing before troubleshooting. It currently lists Windows 10, a 64-bit processor and operating system, 4 GB RAM, and about 512 MB available storage as minimums. Those figures are a baseline, not a launch guarantee; Steam warns that systems close to minimum specifications can still have problems (Steam’s requirements guidance).
- In Settings > System > About, confirm Windows is 64-bit and note the edition and version.
- Check free space on the drive containing the Steam library; updates and temporary files need more room than the listed game size.
- Confirm the intended discrete GPU is being used rather than an integrated adapter when your laptop has both.
- Notice whether other Steam games launch. If several fail, focus on Windows, drivers, heat, or hardware rather than only Stumble Guys.
- Windows 10 is still shown by the game listing, but Microsoft’s normal free Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025. Keep that distinction in mind when assessing update and driver availability.
Apply the low-risk fixes first
- Close Stumble Guys.
- In Steam, select Steam in the upper-left corner and choose Exit; reopen Steam rather than merely closing its window.
- Open Steam > Downloads and install pending Steam or Stumble Guys updates.
- Restart Windows and try the game again. Scopely’s general troubleshooting guidance also puts game and Steam updates early in the process.
- Temporarily disconnect VPN or proxy software and close non-essential recording, monitoring, RGB, and security utilities. Scopely specifically calls out VPN/proxy services for loading problems (official crash and loading guidance).
Disabling a VPN is most informative when the failure involves authentication or loading. It is unlikely to repair a graphics crash that occurs before the first menu.

Verify Stumble Guys’ files in Steam
- Open Steam and select Library.
- Right-click Stumble Guys and choose Properties.
- Open Installed Files (the wording can vary slightly with Steam updates).
- Select Verify integrity of game files and wait for the operation to finish.
- Restart Steam, then launch the game.
Steam compares the installation with its records and reacquires missing or damaged files. Verification normally does not remove your Steam account or purchased content, and it is safer and more informative than deleting folders. It cannot fix an incompatible driver, overlay, Windows corruption, or a game-side regression. Steam documents this as a standard response to games that close immediately (Steam launch troubleshooting).
Update or roll back the graphics driver
Install drivers from NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, or your computer manufacturer—not from “driver updater” utilities or random download sites. Restart Windows after installation. Microsoft describes driver update and display troubleshooting here: display-driver guidance.
If the crash began immediately after a driver update, test a rollback instead:

- Right-click Start and open Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters, right-click the GPU, and select Properties.
- On Driver, choose Roll Back Driver if Windows makes that option available.
- Restart and test Stumble Guys.
Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B can reset a stuck display driver, but Microsoft presents it mainly for a blank or flickering display; it is not a dependable cure for a repeatable game crash.
Remove software conflicts
Turn off one category at a time so you know what changed. Temporarily disable:
- Steam Overlay and Discord Overlay
- Xbox Game Bar
- NVIDIA App/GeForce Experience or AMD Adrenalin overlays
- MSI Afterburner, RivaTuner, and FPS or hardware monitors
- OBS and other capture tools
- RGB, motherboard-control, and fan-control utilities
- Third-party antivirus game or behavior-monitoring modules
- VPN and proxy clients
These programs are possible conflicts, not proven causes in every installation. Steam recommends disabling non-essential software while diagnosing launch failures (official troubleshooting). Running the game as administrator can be a limited permissions test, but it is not a universal fix and should not become a permanent requirement without a specific access error.

Use a Windows clean boot to isolate a conflict
A clean boot is a diagnostic, not a permanent gaming mode. Microsoft warns that it temporarily reduces functionality; restore normal startup when finished (Microsoft’s clean-boot procedure).
- Press Windows + R, type
msconfig, and press Enter. - Open Services, check Hide all Microsoft services, then select Disable all.
- Open Startup and select Open Task Manager.
- Disable enabled third-party startup items and restart Windows.
- Launch Stumble Guys.
If it works, re-enable services and startup items in groups, restarting between tests, until the conflicting program is identified. If it still fails, background software is less likely to be the cause. In System Configuration, restore normal startup and re-enable the items you changed.

Use these commands when several applications or games crash, an update was interrupted, or Steam itself behaves abnormally. They repair Windows components; they do not replace Stumble Guys files.

- Search for Command Prompt, right-click it, and choose Run as administrator.
- Run the following command and wait for completion:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth - Then run:
sfc /scannow - Wait until verification reaches 100%, restart Windows, and test the game.
Microsoft instructs users to run DISM before SFC because DISM can repair the component source SFC uses (System File Checker instructions).

Scopely mentions clearing cache, but its displayed Settings > Apps > Stumble Guys > Clear Cache path does not apply universally to a desktop Steam installation (Scopely’s article). Do not delete an arbitrary AppData folder because a forum post names it.
Verify files and isolate software first. If support identifies the current local-data location, back up anything practical and understand that resetting it can remove graphics preferences, local settings, logs, or temporary data. Do not assume Steam progress syncs with mobile platforms; the official site notes that Steam PC progress is not saved with platforms such as Google Play, Game Center, or Facebook (Stumble Guys).

Reinstall only after the diagnostic steps
Reinstalling can replace damaged installation files, but it will not repair a bad GPU driver, unstable hardware, Windows corruption, or a game-side bug. Before uninstalling, confirm you can sign back into Steam, avoid deleting unrelated Steam folders, and reinstall from the official Steam listing. Treat account progress and platform linking as something to verify, not something a reinstall guarantees.
If Stumble Guys still crashes
Check official Stumble Guys notices before making invasive changes; do not infer a service outage from one local crash. Then contact Scopely with:
- Windows edition and version
- CPU, GPU, RAM, and whether graphics are integrated or discrete
- Steam and Stumble Guys versions, if shown
- The exact failure point and any error text
- When it began and whether it followed a game, Windows, or driver update
- Whether other games launch
- Steps already tested
- Relevant Event Viewer entries or crash logs, only when available and requested
Steam’s technical-support page identifies Scopely as the game’s support provider and lists [email protected] (Steam support page). Avoid replacement DLLs, registry cleaners, random launch parameters, and paid “PC optimizer” tools.
