1. Restart the console and check for a game update
- Restart the PS5 from the power menu.
- Highlight the game tile, press the options button, and choose the option to check for an update. PlayStation includes restarting and checking for updates among its general game-start troubleshooting steps.
Test the same area or action that previously caused the crash. If the game still closes or freezes, continue.

2. Restore licenses if the game is digital or entitlement-related
Go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses. You can also highlight the game tile, press the options button, and select Restore License. 3. Delete and reinstall the game

4. Rebuild the database and check system software
If reinstalling does not help, PlayStation also recommends rebuilding the database in Safe Mode and updating PS5 system software when game-start problems persist. Follow PlayStation’s Safe Mode instructions for the current menu steps. Safe Mode options differ in their effects: Sony warns that some options can cause data loss, and Reset PS5 and Reset PS5 (Reinstall System Software) delete user data. Do not use a reset as an early crash fix; back up data and follow official support advice before considering one.
