If Asphalt 9 shows a “Connection Error,” first close and relaunch the game, restart your device, and test a different reliable network. The game is now officially called Asphalt Legends, and it requires an internet connection; it is not designed to work fully offline. Check the official news page for maintenance or service announcements before reinstalling.
Identify where the connection fails
The location of the failure determines the right fix:

- The game cannot reach the main menu, account login, events, or multiplayer: the cause may be a service outage, account-session problem, blocked network, outdated installation, or device compatibility issue.
- The main menu works but Multiplayer fails: follow the multiplayer-specific sequence below.
- The game works on a phone hotspot but not on Wi-Fi: the Wi-Fi network, filtering system, or network administrator is the likely problem—not necessarily the game installation.
Gameloft says server-connection failures can result from a problem on its side, a weak connection, or a network administrator blocking required connections. Its general troubleshooting guidance supports checking all three possibilities.
Try these fixes in order
1. Completely close and relaunch Asphalt Legends
Do not leave the game suspended in the background. Close it fully, wait a few seconds, and launch it again. This is Gameloft’s first recommended step for multiplayer connection errors.

2. Restart the device
Power off the phone, tablet, PC, or console, wait briefly, and start it again. For persistent connectivity problems, Gameloft recommends powering the device off for a couple of minutes before retrying.
3. Test another network
- On a phone, switch from Wi-Fi to cellular data.
- Switch from cellular data to Wi-Fi.
- Try another private Wi-Fi network.
- If you are using school, work, hotel, public, or managed Wi-Fi, test a home network or phone hotspot.
Gameloft recommends a stable, password-protected Wi-Fi connection. If the game works on another network, ask the network administrator whether gaming traffic or the required server connections are being filtered. Do not assume that changing DNS or using a VPN is a guaranteed solution; Gameloft does not list either as a universal fix.
4. Close background apps and disable power-saving mode
Close unnecessary applications before launching the game. On mobile devices, temporarily disable system Power Saving mode and restart Asphalt Legends. Gameloft identifies background memory pressure and power-saving restrictions as possible causes of instability.
On Android, the usual path is Settings → Apps → Asphalt Legends → Force stop. Menu names vary by manufacturer, so the exact location may differ.
5. Free storage space
Make room for several gigabytes of storage before trying again. Storage is the space used for the game and downloaded data; it is different from RAM, which the game uses while running. A device can have free storage but still run short of available memory, or have sufficient RAM but too little storage for updates and game data.
Gameloft’s general troubleshooting guidance also refers to at least 1 GB of free memory, while its platform requirements specify additional hardware and operating-system requirements.

6. Update the game and operating system
Install any available Asphalt Legends update from the store where you obtained the game, then check for an operating-system update. Gameloft recommends both steps.

Open Google Play Store → profile icon → Manage apps & devices, then install the Asphalt Legends update if one is listed. Google notes that Android settings can vary by device.
iPhone or iPad
Open App Store → account/profile button → App Updates. Tap Update next to Asphalt Legends, or choose Update All.
Windows
Update Windows through Settings → Windows Update.

Try Repair first. If it does not help, the same screen may offer Reset. Microsoft warns that not every app exposes these options, and Reset is more destructive than Repair. Confirm that your game profile is linked to a supported account before using it.
Verify Steam files
- Restart the computer and open Steam.
- Open Library.
- Right-click Asphalt Legends, or open its library page and select the gear icon.
- Choose Properties…
- Open Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files.
Steam says one or more files may fail verification because local configuration files are not replaced. That result can be normal and does not necessarily mean the verification failed. The official Steam procedure is described in Steam Support.
Fix multiplayer-only connection errors
If the main menu and other game features work but Multiplayer displays the error, use Gameloft’s specific sequence:

- Power off and restart the device.
- Confirm that several gigabytes of storage are free.
- Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, or test another network.
This is a different failure mode from a game that cannot reach the main menu. Reinstalling should not be your first response to a multiplayer-only error.
Check whether the device meets current requirements
A device below the supported operating-system or hardware baseline may fail during launch, synchronization, or connection to online services. That is a compatibility problem, not one normally fixed by changing DNS or reinstalling repeatedly.
- Windows/Steam: Gameloft lists Windows 10 version 10.0.16299 or later, DirectX 12, 4 GB RAM, and specified minimum graphics hardware. The Steam listing is stricter about memory and lists 8 GB RAM and 10 GB available storage; use the Steam requirements as the practical target for that edition.
- macOS: Gameloft lists macOS 10.15.7, with a dual-core Intel Core i5 or Apple Silicon M1.
- Android: Gameloft lists Android firmware 9.0 or later, along with specified reference devices and hardware.

Reinstall only after protecting your progress
Do not uninstall the game or clear its data as an early troubleshooting step. Gameloft recommends reinstalling only after the in-game profile is linked to a supported login or platform account.
Depending on the device, supported account options can include Gameloft ID, Google Play Games, Game Center, Xbox, and other platform accounts. Gameloft says cross-save is available across supported platforms, excluding PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
iPhone or iPad
To delete the app, touch and hold Asphalt Legends, choose Remove App → Delete App, then redownload it from the App Store. Apple states that deleting an app removes the app and related local data.
Android
Do not use Clear storage or Clear data until the profile is linked. Google distinguishes this from Clear cache: clearing storage permanently deletes the app’s local data, while clearing the cache removes temporary files.

Account and login problems
Facebook login is no longer supported
Facebook login is no longer supported in Asphalt Legends. If the profile was also connected to Gameloft ID, Google Play Games, Game Center, Xbox, or another supported account, use that account instead.

If Facebook was the only connection, Gameloft says to contact Customer Care and provide the Facebook numeric ID associated with the lost profile. See its Facebook-login guidance.
Do not accept the wrong account
If an account-selection or account-conflict screen appears, do not confirm a blank or unfamiliar profile before checking the login method. Recovery depends on using the account originally linked to the game. If progress appears missing, stop troubleshooting and contact support rather than creating or confirming another profile.
Fixes that are not verified universal solutions
Online guides often recommend changing DNS servers, port forwarding, inventing firewall ports, running command-line network resets, using a VPN, or installing an unofficial APK. These are not listed as official Asphalt Legends fixes in Gameloft’s current troubleshooting guidance.

A VPN or DNS change might alter a particular network route, but there is no official Gameloft instruction establishing either as a guaranteed solution. Avoid unofficial or modified clients, which can create security, account, and compatibility problems.
When to contact Gameloft
Contact Gameloft Customer Care if:
- the game fails on multiple known-good networks;
- other online apps work normally but Asphalt Legends does not;
- repair, file verification, updates, and a restart have not helped;
- the problem began after an account migration or login change;
- your progress appears missing; or
- the error persists across devices.
Use the official Asphalt Legends Help Center contact page. Include:
- your platform and store version, such as Android, iOS, Windows/Microsoft Store, Xbox, Steam, macOS, PlayStation, or Switch;
- the exact error text and any error code;
- your Player ID or account ID, if available;
- the device model and operating-system version;
- when the problem began;
- whether the game works on another network; and
- an uncropped screenshot of the error.
Gameloft specifically asks players to provide account IDs and screenshots when investigating issues.
