Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe fastest way to troubleshoot The Killing Antidote crashing on PC is to test a completely unmodded launch. Move every local .pak mod out of the installation, unsubscribe from Steam Workshop content, then verify the game files. This is especially important if the crash began after an update or shows an Unreal Engine-style LowLevelFatalError. If the crash mentions 0x887A0007, RESET, or a lost graphics device, focus on the GPU driver and rendering configuration instead.
The steps below are ordered to protect your saves and avoid an unnecessary reinstall. Community reports are useful for identifying recurring patterns, but they are not official confirmation that every crash has the same cause.

Identify the crash before changing anything
Use this table as triage guidance, not as a guaranteed diagnosis:
| Symptom | First check |
|---|---|
| Crashes immediately on launch | Leftover mods, corrupted configuration, overlays, drivers, or graphics API issues |
| Started after a game update | Mods that were built for the previous game build |
| Crashes during death or a death-camera sequence | Camera, FOV, health, or gameplay mods |
| Crashes while crawling through vents or during camera transitions | Camera and FOV modifications |
| Crashes opening a wardrobe or changing clothing | Wardrobe, appearance, character, or clothing mods |
Could not find SuperStruct or Failed to find function |
An outdated mod referencing a changed game function or object |
0x887A0007, RESET, device lost, or device removed |
GPU driver, graphics API, unstable tuning, or rendering settings |
| Crashes with no visible mods | Hidden mod folders, Workshop subscriptions, leftover files, configuration, or drivers |
Before closing an error window, copy its complete text. The generic phrase LowLevelFatalError is less useful than the specific function, class, asset, map, or device error that follows it.

The quickest fix: remove every mod and verify the game
- Exit The Killing Antidote.
- Close Steam, or at least confirm that the game is no longer running.
- Move all third-party mod files out of the game folders.
- Temporarily unsubscribe from all Workshop mods.
- Launch the game without mods and test a new game or an unaffected save.
- If it still crashes, verify the Steam installation.
Steam community troubleshooting reports most often point first to outdated or conflicting .pak files, particularly after a game update. That does not prove every crash is mod-related: players have also reported crashes with no active mods.
Fix 1: Remove local mods, Workshop content, and injected files
“I do not use mods” does not always mean the installation is clean. A local .pak file may remain after a mod is supposedly removed, a Workshop subscription may still be active, or a mod manager or trainer may have injected files into the installation.
Check the local installation folders
- Open Steam and select Library.
- Right-click The Killing Antidote and choose Manage → Browse local files.
- Inspect the following locations, adjusting the drive and library path to match your installation:
TheKillingAntidoteContentPaks~mods
TheKillingAntidoteMods
A typical full path may look like this, although yours can be different:
C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonTheKillingAntidoteTheKillingAntidoteContentPaks~mods
Move third-party .pak files to a temporary folder on your desktop rather than deleting them immediately. This gives you a way to restore them later and makes it clear whether the base game works without them.
Temporarily remove Workshop and manager content
Open the game’s Steam Workshop page and unsubscribe from all Workshop items for the test. If you used a mod manager, disable its profile and remove or quarantine any files it injected. Also disable trainers and other utilities that modify the game while it is running.
After the clean launch works, do not restore every mod at once. Add them back one at a time and test after each addition. The last mod enabled before the crash returns is a strong suspect, although two individually functional mods can still conflict with each other.
Fix 2: Match the error or crash location to the likely mod
The following mappings come from Steam community reports and should be treated as reported examples, not an exhaustive or permanent list. Mod compatibility can change whenever the game updates.
Missing functions, structs, or SuperStructs
Messages such as Could not find SuperStruct or Failed to find function commonly indicate that a mod is trying to use a game object or function that changed or no longer exists in the current build. Remove every gameplay-altering .pak file first, then test the unmodded game.
Missing AnimNotify_Event
Community troubleshooting has associated this message with an outdated “Nude Enabler” mod. Update it only if its author explicitly supports your current game build; otherwise, remove it and test again.
“Lazy Timer” function or struct errors
Reported examples include older recoil mods with names such as:
No Recoil 5.4.pak
No Recoil 6.1.pak
Pure No Recoil.pak
Remove recoil, timer, health, stamina, and other gameplay-overhaul mods together for the first test. Reinstalling the base game does not necessarily remove these external files.
Camera and death-camera crashes
If the crash occurs during death, a camera transition, or a vent sequence and the error mentions items such as Camera_Creep_C or Camera_Death_C, remove camera, FOV, steady-aim, death-camera, and visual gameplay modifications. Steam users have also reported death-camera crashes associated with health-regeneration modifications.
These reports do not establish that camera mods are the only possible cause. The useful diagnostic is whether the same sequence works after all camera and gameplay mods are removed.
Wardrobe, clothing, and character-data crashes
A crash when opening a wardrobe, changing clothing, or interacting with Jodi-related content points toward appearance, wardrobe, character-model, clothing, or “nude” mods. Remove those files and repeat the same interaction without mods.
Fix 3: Verify the Steam game files
- Open Steam and go to Library.
- Right-click The Killing Antidote and select Properties.
- Open Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for the process to finish, restart Steam, and launch the game without mods.
Verification can replace missing or corrupted official files. It generally does not remove third-party files in ~mods or Mods, reset your AppData configuration, or prevent Workshop content from being downloaded again. That is why verification should follow a genuine mod cleanup rather than replace it.
Make sure you are troubleshooting the full game rather than The Killing Antidote Playtest. Steam lists separate entries and app IDs for them: the main game uses app ID 2254890, while the Playtest uses app ID 2427560. The relevant Steam support pages are main-game technical support and Playtest technical support.

Fix 4: Reset GameUserSettings.ini safely
A damaged or incompatible local configuration can cause startup and rendering failures even when the official installation is intact. Reset the configuration by renaming it, not deleting the entire saved-data directory.
- Close the game.
- Press Win + R.
- Enter:
%LOCALAPPDATA%TheKillingAntidoteSaved
- Copy the entire
Savedfolder to your desktop as a backup. - Open
ConfigWindowsNoEditor. - Rename
GameUserSettings.initoGameUserSettings.ini.backup. - Launch the game and let it create a fresh configuration.
This may reset resolution, display mode, graphics quality, keybinds, and other custom settings. Renaming the file preserves a rollback copy. Do not routinely delete the whole Saved folder: it may contain saves, logs, and other user data.
Graphics compatibility workaround
For a relevant graphics or API failure, one Steam community workaround is to edit GameUserSettings.ini and set anti-aliasing quality to a low value:
sg.AntiAliasingQuality=0
or:
sg.AntiAliasingQuality=1
This is an anecdotal workaround, not a universal fix. Try it only when the crash points to rendering compatibility, and keep the original file backed up.

If the message includes 0x887A0007, RESET, “device lost,” “device removed,” or similar graphics-device wording, use this branch rather than assuming the error is caused by a mod:
- Install the latest GPU driver from NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel, then restart Windows.
- If the crashes began immediately after a driver update, test a previously stable driver version.
- Return GPU overclocks and undervolts to stock settings.
- Close overlays, recording tools, monitoring utilities, and programs that inject into games.
- Reset
GameUserSettings.ini. - Once the game opens, reduce graphics settings and test again.
Driver rollback is most appropriate when the timing points to a driver change or the error explicitly indicates a graphics-device reset. Updating a driver will not fix every LowLevelFatalError, especially one naming a missing game function or mod-related object.
Fix 6: Disable overlays and unstable tuning
For a clean diagnostic launch, temporarily disable:
- Steam Overlay
- Discord Overlay
- Xbox Game Bar
- NVIDIA or AMD recording and performance overlays
- MSI Afterburner, RivaTuner-style hooks, and similar injection tools
- GPU overclocks and undervolts
These tools are not automatically the cause, but removing them reduces variables when the crash does not identify a mod or a specific game asset.
Fix 7: Perform a clean reinstall only after the safer tests
Reinstalling over the existing files may not solve the problem if third-party files remain, AppData configuration survives, Workshop content is redownloaded, or the underlying issue is the GPU driver.
- Back up saves and the entire
%LOCALAPPDATA%TheKillingAntidoteSavedfolder. - Unsubscribe from Workshop mods and disable mod managers or trainers.
- Uninstall the game through Steam.
- Check the Steam library location for leftover The Killing Antidote files and mod directories, but do not delete backed-up user data.
- Reinstall the game.
- Launch it once without restoring mods or old configuration files.
- Verify that a new game works before restoring saves or adding mods.
If the clean installation still crashes, the cause is less likely to be a missing official file and more likely to involve configuration, drivers, hardware/API compatibility, overlays, a save-specific problem, or a broken game build.
What to do if it still crashes with no mods
- Confirm that both
ContentPaks~modsandModsare empty or moved aside. - Confirm that Workshop content is unsubscribed.
- Verify the Steam files.
- Reset
GameUserSettings.ini. - Restart Windows.
- Update or, where appropriate, roll back the GPU driver.
- Disable overlays and injection utilities.
- Try a new game to determine whether the crash is limited to one save or location.
- Back up saves before renaming or removing any save folder.
- Only then perform a clean reinstall.
When contacting Steam technical support, include:
- The complete error text, including the function, asset, class, map, or device code
- Where the crash occurs: launch, death, vent, wardrobe, cutscene, or another location
- The game build or update after which it started
- Whether you are using the main game or Playtest
- Your Windows version
- GPU model and driver version
- Whether a new game also crashes
- Confirmation that Workshop subscriptions and local mod folders were removed
This information is substantially more useful than reporting only “the game has a fatal error.”
Frequently Asked Questions
Can an outdated mod crash The Killing Antidote after a game update?
Yes. Steam community reports associate post-update crashes with mods that reference functions, structs, cameras, or gameplay systems changed by the new build. Remove all mods before testing other fixes.

Does verifying Steam files remove mods?
Not reliably. Verification repairs official files, but third-party files in local mod folders and Workshop content may remain.
Will resetting GameUserSettings.ini delete my saves?
Renaming that file should reset settings rather than saves, but back up the entire Saved folder first and do not delete it routinely.
Why can reinstalling fail to fix the crash?
Leftover local mods, AppData configuration, redownloaded Workshop content, overlays, drivers, or a save-specific problem can survive or reappear after reinstalling.
What does 0x887A0007 usually indicate?
It points toward a graphics-device reset or driver/API problem. Update or, if the issue began after a driver update, test a previously stable driver; also reset graphics settings and remove unstable tuning.
