It can come from a Roblox outage, a broken experience, a blocked connection, a corrupted client, or a graphics-rendering problem. Start by checking Roblox status and trying another experience, then follow the platform-specific fixes below.
Quick checks first
- Check the official Roblox status page. If Roblox is experiencing an incident or maintenance, wait rather than reinstalling immediately.
- Try another experience. If only one game shows a white screen, its server, scripts, assets, or map may be broken. Retry later or report it to the creator.
- Fully restart Roblox. Leave the experience, close Roblox and your browser, end any remaining Roblox process, and restart the device.
- Test another supported browser. Roblox lists Chrome, Firefox, and Edge on Windows, and Chrome, Firefox, and Safari on Mac.
- Temporarily disable extensions. Ad blockers and other browser extensions can interfere with the browser-to-Roblox handoff.
- Test another network. A phone hotspot can reveal whether your router, VPN, proxy, school network, or work network is blocking Roblox.
Do not permanently disable antivirus, firewall, parental controls, or router security. Use protection-off testing only briefly, then create an allow rule for the official Roblox application if that identifies the cause.

Identify the type of white-screen failure

Audio with a white screen is a useful clue, not proof of a graphics-card fault. Error codes such as 279/ID 17, 266, 268, or “Failed to connect” should be recorded because they help separate connection and client problems.

Use the correct Roblox app
The current Microsoft Store application is named Roblox – Windows and has a blue icon. The older app is named Roblox and has a light-gray icon. If the website-launched client fails, test Roblox – Windows. If the Store app fails, test the official desktop installer from Roblox.com. Once one works, uninstall the obsolete duplicate rather than keeping multiple installations while troubleshooting. Your account, Robux, inventory, friends, and progress remain tied to your Roblox account.

Allow Roblox through security software
Check your firewall’s allowed-app list and your antivirus quarantine or history. Restore and allow the official Roblox client if it was blocked. Disconnect VPNs and proxies while testing. Roblox identifies firewalls, antivirus software, unstable Wi-Fi, and blocked UDP traffic as possible causes of incomplete loading. Its connection guidance lists UDP ports 49152–65535, but do not blindly expose inbound ports or make unsafe router changes; contact the network administrator for managed networks.

Perform a clean reinstall
- Close Roblox, Roblox Studio, and every browser.
- Uninstall Roblox from Windows Settings.
- Restart Windows.
- Clear browser temporary files and cookies.
- Install Roblox again from Roblox.com or the official Microsoft Store.
- Test an experience before restoring extensions, overlays, or other add-ons.
Roblox recommends restarting before reinstalling because open Roblox processes can interfere with installation or updates. Follow its official reinstall instructions.
Clear the local Roblox folder if reinstalling did not help
This is an advanced cleanup step and removes local client data. Make sure Roblox is closed first.

- Press Windows key + R.
- Enter
%localappdata%Robloxand press Enter. - Delete the Roblox folder, or its cache files if you prefer a less extensive cleanup.
- Restart Windows and reinstall the official client.

Check DirectX and graphics drivers
Prioritize this branch when audio works, the problem started after an update, other 3D apps show visual problems, or Roblox works on mobile but not on the computer.
- Press Windows key + R, type
dxdiag, and press Enter. - Open Display, or Display 1/Display 2 on systems with multiple GPUs.
- Check Feature Levels. Roblox requires DirectX 10 or higher feature-level support on Windows.
- Update the active Intel, NVIDIA, or AMD driver from the manufacturer’s official website.
- Restart Windows and try Roblox again.
On laptops with switchable graphics, check whether Roblox is using the integrated or dedicated GPU. Roblox Studio can show the active adapter under Settings > Diagnostics > GfxCard. Avoid third-party “driver updater” tools.

If compatibility mode is enabled, right-click the Roblox executable, select Properties > Compatibility, clear Run this program in compatibility mode, and apply the change. Roblox’s graphics troubleshooting guide has the relevant requirements.
If Roblox Studio opens, reset its settings through File > Settings > Reset All Settings. This will not help if the client cannot render or start at all.
Repair Windows system files
Use this only after reinstalling and checking drivers. Open Windows Terminal or Command Prompt as administrator and run:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealthThis is a Windows repair command, not a Roblox command, and may take some time. For persistent failures, close overlays, macro tools, injectors, screen-capture utilities, game enhancers, and unofficial Roblox clients. A Windows clean boot can identify third-party conflicts. Do not bypass Roblox anti-cheat or use modified clients; follow the named-software instructions in any anti-cheat message.
Mac fixes
- Restart the Mac and try another supported browser.
- Temporarily disable browser extensions and content blockers.
- Check macOS firewall and security software for a Roblox block.
- Remove Roblox, then sign in through Safari and launch an experience to reinstall it.
- If installation does not start automatically, open the downloaded
Roblox.dmgfrom Finder and complete the installation.

iPhone, iPad, Android, and Chromebook
iPhone and iPad
Update iOS or iPadOS, force-close Roblox from the app switcher, restart the device, and reinstall Roblox if necessary. Test Wi-Fi and cellular data where available. Roblox gives the same first-line advice in its iOS technical support guide.

Android
Update Roblox and Android, force-close the app, restart the device, and test another connection. You can also clear Roblox’s cache through Android Settings where available; menu names vary by manufacturer and Android version. Reinstall the app if the white screen continues.
Chromebook
Update ChromeOS and confirm that the Google Play Store is enabled. Roblox requires ChromeOS version 53 or later according to its system requirements.
Unsupported platforms
Roblox does not support Linux. Roblox also says virtual machines and cloud-based computers are unsupported. Wine, a VM, or a cloud PC therefore cannot be treated as reliable fixes for a white screen. Older computers should also be checked for 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, DirectX 10 feature-level support, available storage, memory, and current driver support.
When to contact Roblox Support
Contact Roblox Support when the problem persists across experiences and the standard client, network, reinstall, and graphics checks have failed. Include:
