The reliable recovery is to select Steam’s Default Public Version and begin a new game if you played the demo; repair Estelle’s flag in the save file only when that specific heart is locked; and use the in-game achievement requirements as a checklist for everything else.
Identify which problem you have
The symptom usually tells you which fix is appropriate. Do not edit a save or restart until you have matched the symptom to a cause.

The Witch’s Bakery is a 2D narrative Adventure RPG by Sunny Lab, published by Silver Lining Interactive. The Steam edition released on October 14, 2026 and includes Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud. Physical editions for Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 were announced for Friday, October 16, 2026. The procedures below that mention Steam menus or a Windows save path apply to the Steam version; the available evidence does not establish equivalent file-repair steps for the console editions.
Fix a demo save that is incompatible with the release build
Sunny Lab’s October 14, 2026 Steam notice says that anyone who played the demo must move to the normal public branch and begin a new game. The release build may still show Continue for the old save, but that button does not make the save compatible. Continuing can leave the game stuck later.

1. Select the supported Steam branch
- Open Steam and go to your Library.
- Right-click The Witch’s Bakery and choose Properties.
- Open Game Versions & Betas.
- Set the branch to Default Public Version. Allow Steam to finish any update before launching.
2. Start a genuinely new game
- Launch the game after the branch has finished updating.
- Choose New Game, not Continue.
- Play from the beginning of Chapter 1 and create a fresh save slot.
Deleting the demo branch alone does not remove the old save, according to Sunny Lab. That is why a Continue button can remain visible after the branch has been removed. The important actions are selecting Default Public Version and refusing to continue the incompatible save.
What this means for achievements
Achievements earned on a demo-era progression cannot be treated as proof that the release save is healthy. Re-earn the requirements on the new release-game save. Keep the old files as a backup until the new run is working, but do not use the old Continue entry as the foundation for the release playthrough.
Repair Estelle’s locked second heart
This is a separate in-game bug rather than a demo-branch problem. In the current version, choosing the bottom dialogue branch in the relevant Estelle scene can lock the second heart. Sunny Lab says a later version will correct the bug, but the scene that was skipped will not be restored by the repair.

Back up the file first
Close the game. In File Explorer, copy the save file to another folder before changing anything. The Steam Windows path is:
C:Users<username>AppDataLocalLowSunny LabThe Witch’s BakeryGameFilesSlot_0Save.lunne<username> means your Windows account name. If you use another slot, the folder name may differ from Slot_0; the developer’s repair instructions specifically identify Slot_0.
Edit only the relationship flag
- Open the backed-up
Save.lunnein a plain-text editor. - Use the editor’s Find command to locate this exact identifier:
effc1d56-d2a3-4fe5-bcb2-933781bdf8b5. - In that entry, find
relationshipLevelsLocked. - Change its value from
truetofalse. Do not alter the identifier, punctuation, or other values. - Save the edited file, then start the game and load the repaired slot.
Sunny Lab states that changing this value “will unlock the second heart, and let the relationship progress as normal.” The edit does not recreate the theater scene that the dialogue choice skipped. If the file will not save as plain text, the identifier cannot be found, or the game stops recognizing the slot, close the editor without overwriting your backup and restore the original file.

When not to use this edit
- Do not use it to solve a demo-save incompatibility; that requires a clean release-game start.
- Do not change relationship flags for other characters or invent values that are not in the file.
- Do not discard the backup until the repaired slot loads and the relationship can advance.
Complete the requirements that actually unlock achievements
The achievement guide groups the game’s goals into several types. A missing icon is not necessarily a technical failure: many goals unlock only at a chapter ending, after every side quest, or after a complete collection has been finished.

Chapter and side-quest checks
If a story achievement is missing, finish the relevant chapter rather than stopping after its final conversation or a mid-chapter objective. For “The Heart Of Paris,” audit every side quest instead of assuming that completing the main story covers them. A side quest that was accepted but not finished still leaves the requirement incomplete.
Relationships and the one missable choice
Maxing a relationship requires progressing the associated character content, not merely reaching the end of the story. The guide identifies one dialogue choice that is missable in a playthrough. If that choice was made incorrectly, a second run may be necessary; the Estelle save edit does not substitute for replaying a different one-time choice elsewhere.

Earnings, collections and a single-save rule
The bakery milestones are 100 euros, 1,000 euros and 7,500 euros. The guide specifies that these totals are tracked within a single save, so do not expect money earned across separate starts to combine. The same practical rule applies to collection-style goals: check recipes, cooking, Paris activities and decorations on the save that is meant to earn the achievement, and keep playing that save until its set is complete.

What to do if an achievement still does not unlock
- Confirm the build. On Steam, verify that the game is on Default Public Version rather than a demo or alternate branch.
- Confirm the save origin. If the save began in the demo, do not continue it; create the release save described above.
- Identify the exact achievement category. Check whether it is tied to a chapter ending, side quest, relationship, earnings threshold, recipe, activity or decoration collection.
- Check the single-save requirement. For bakery earnings in particular, verify that the total was accumulated on one save.
- Check for the missable dialogue. If the goal depends on the one-time choice and it was missed, plan a replay rather than repeatedly reloading the same outcome.
- Check Estelle separately. If only her second heart is affected, use the documented backup-and-flag procedure; do not apply it to unrelated symptoms.
- Report a remaining bug. Sunny Lab asks players to search Steam Discussions for an existing thread and add their details there. Open a new thread only when no suitable report already exists.
When reporting, include the platform, whether the save started in the demo, the Steam branch shown in Properties, the affected achievement category, and the point at which the game stopped advancing. Those details distinguish a branch mismatch from a requirement that has not yet been met.

The documented branch-selection and save-file procedures are Windows Steam instructions. The store listing confirms Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud for the Steam release, while Sunny Lab separately announced physical Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 editions for October 16, 2026. The available developer instructions do not describe editing console saves or provide a console equivalent of the Steam demo-branch repair. On those platforms, use a fresh supported save if the game carried over demo progress and contact the developer through the platform’s support channel for a platform-specific remedy.

The game had passed 200,000 wishlists by Sunny Lab’s July 24, 2026 announcement, but that milestone does not change the achievement requirements or the recovery steps above.
Expected outcome
A demo-origin save should be replaced with a new game on Steam’s Default Public Version. An Estelle-only lock can be repaired by changing the documented relationship flag after making a backup, with the understanding that the skipped theater scene remains skipped. Every other missing achievement should be checked against the five chapter endings, all side quests, maximum relationships, the three single-save bakery thresholds, complete recipe and activity sets, and every decoration collection; replay is reserved for the one missable dialogue choice.
