If Throne and Liberty is lagging during multiplayer on PS5, first check the game’s known issues and PlayStation Network (PSN) status, then test the console’s connection. If you use Wi-Fi, improve the signal or try Ethernet to see whether the wireless link is contributing. These checks can narrow down the cause, but cannot by themselves confirm that the game servers, PSN, your internet provider, or the route between them are healthy.
First identify what “lag” looks like
The game’s official support article defines online lag as “a noticeable delay between the action of players and the reaction of the server in a video game.” That description fits delayed actions and rubber-banding, but players may use “lag” for several different problems. Identifying the symptom helps avoid changing network settings when the issue may be elsewhere.
| What you see or feel | What it may point to | Useful first distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Your character warps or snaps back, or actions register late | Network or server response delay is plausible | Compare service status and, if possible, Wi-Fi with a wired connection. Note whether other online games are affected. |
| The game disconnects or will not connect | A game service, PSN, or local connection issue is possible | Check game and PSN status, then run the PS5 connection test. |
| The picture stutters or the frame rate drops while online play otherwise remains connected | A rendering or performance issue may be more relevant than network lag | Describe the stutter separately; the game’s connectivity guidance does not diagnose frame-rate problems. |
| Controls feel delayed, but characters and other players do not warp | Controller or display input delay may be separate from network lag | Do not apply PC-specific input-lag advice, such as V-Sync or graphics settings, to PS5. |
The game’s support site has separate guidance for input lag. That does not make PC-specific settings relevant to a PS5 network problem.
Check for a service issue before changing your setup
Check the official Throne and Liberty support and known-issues page and PSN status. Both can help identify a reported service problem, but status pages are dynamic: a page that appears normal does not prove that every region, server, or connection route is operating without congestion.

The game’s known-issues page reported “Last Updated: April 23, 2026.” Treat that as the date attached to that page entry, not as proof that the list captures every later issue or reflects live server health.
Test the PS5 connection and Wi-Fi
- On PS5, open Settings > Network > Connection Status > Test Internet Connection. Use the result as a basic check of the console’s connection; it does not establish the health of the game’s servers or the entire route to them.
- If the console is on Wi-Fi, move it closer to the router and reduce obstructions or sources of interference where practical.
- Confirm that the PS5 is joining the intended network name (SSID), with the correct password and security method.
- If available, connect the PS5 to the router by Ethernet and repeat the test and gameplay comparison. A wired connection can help rule out weak Wi-Fi signal or wireless interference; it will not fix a server-side problem or an issue farther along the internet route.

Check whether other home internet use changes the symptom
Temporarily pause other high-bandwidth activity on the home connection, such as video streaming, downloads, or another online game, then see whether multiplayer behaves differently. This comparison can reveal whether competing household traffic may be contributing; a change does not, by itself, prove the cause.

- The exact symptom: warping, delayed hits or skills, stutter, input delay, or disconnects.
- Your region or server, and the time the issue occurred.
- Whether the PS5 was using Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
- Whether other games or devices on the same connection had similar problems.
These details are more useful than reporting only that the game is “lagging.” The PlayStation Store listing describes Throne and Liberty as online-only and notes that server locations may change over time, so do not assume a fixed server location.
Support ownership for Western live operations is also changing: an official announcement dated August 12, 2026, said a move from Amazon Game Studios to FirstSpark Games / NC was planned for Q4 2026. Check the game’s current official help route rather than assuming an older operator link is still the right place to submit a request.
