If VALORANT shows “The game has lost connection. Please relaunch the client to restore connectivity,” start by checking Riot’s service status, then restart the game and client and test your connection. VAL 3 is reported with that message by independent troubleshooting guides, but Riot’s official definition of VAL 3 could not be confirmed; the possible causes below are not confirmed explanations for every player.
What VAL 3 means—and what it doesn’t establish
Independent guides report VAL 3 alongside the message “The game has lost connection. Please relaunch the client to restore connectivity.” They suggest possibilities including a service issue, a connection or client problem, firewall restrictions, time or date mismatch, or an account-session concern. These are troubleshooting suggestions, not a verified diagnosis of your particular error. Partition Wizard’s VAL 3 guide and TheWindowsClub’s guide are independent sources; Riot’s official VAL 3 definition is not established here.
In particular, VAL 3 does not by itself prove that another person is using your account, that a network driver is outdated, or that you are banned. Treat the displayed code and full message as clues, then test the least disruptive possibilities first.

Check Riot service status
Before changing Windows settings, check Riot Games Service Status for your region and VALORANT. If Riot reports an incident or maintenance, wait for its update and retry later. Changing local settings is unlikely to resolve a service-side interruption.

Restart VALORANT and Riot Client
Close VALORANT and exit Riot Client completely, then reopen Riot Client and launch the game again. This is a reversible first check, not a guaranteed fix. Independent troubleshooting advice commonly includes restarting the client. TheWindowsClub

Test your internet connection
Check whether other websites or online services load. If you are on Wi-Fi and it is unstable, Riot’s general network guidance recommends trying a wired Ethernet connection as a diagnostic. Review firewall access without turning protection off
Riot notes that firewall rules can block VALORANT or Vanguard. Review the allowed-app rules in your firewall and make sure the relevant Riot game components are permitted; avoid disabling the firewall or other security protections broadly. Check for client updates and account notices
Look in Riot Client for available VALORANT updates and check your Riot account for security alerts or unfamiliar sessions. Third-party guides suggest these as checks, but neither an outdated client nor another active session is established as the cause of every VAL 3 report. If you see a session you do not recognize, use Riot’s official account tools to secure the account rather than assuming the error proves account access by someone else. Contact Riot Support if it continues
If the service is available and the basic checks have not helped, submit a ticket through Riot Support. Include the exact code and full message, your region, when the problem began, and the steps you have tried. Riot’s network article recommends contacting support when troubleshooting does not resolve connectivity problems; it is general network guidance, not a VAL 3-specific diagnosis.
Why this guide doesn’t start with driver or network-setting changes
Some troubleshooting pages mention network drivers, date and time settings, or other system changes, but the available evidence does not establish those as universal VAL 3 fixes. Riot’s network guidance includes more advanced steps, but they are not documented as specific remedies for this code. Avoid changing DNS, disabling IPv6, performing a clean boot, running the game as administrator, or reinstalling Windows components as automatic first steps. If you later investigate a particular network problem with an advanced setting change, note the original configuration and restore it if connectivity gets worse.
