1. Check that your account can use voice
Roblox voice is available to eligible users aged 13 or older who have completed an age check. Roblox’s current instructions specify ID verification or Facial Age Estimation; phone verification does not grant voice access under these updates. Availability of voice and age-check methods can vary by region. See Roblox’s instructions for turning on Voice Chat for the current requirements.
2. Make sure the experience supports voice
Voice is not enabled in every Roblox experience. Developers choose whether to support it, so check the experience’s description page for voice support. Roblox explains this in its Voice Chat FAQ.
3. Disconnect and reconnect with Roblox’s voice controls
- In the experience, open the Voice Chat setting or select the headphone icon.
- If the status is Connected, change it to Disconnected.
- Wait briefly, then use the same control to reconnect. The brief wait is a practical suggestion, not a duration specified by Roblox.
These are Roblox’s controls for managing a voice connection. If you connect but cannot be heard, check the microphone icon: Roblox says a red slash through it means the device microphone is muted. That indicates mute status, not the cause of a connection that remains pending.

4. Test whether your network is interfering
Roblox’s general connection guidance lists unstable or slow wireless connections and firewall restrictions among possible causes of connection problems. Those are reasonable checks if voice will not connect, but Roblox does not confirm them as causes of this particular message.
- If possible, try a wired connection or a more stable network.
- Check whether your firewall or router settings restrict Roblox. If you are on a school, work, or shared network, ask its administrator before changing settings.
- If available, test Roblox on a different internet connection. Roblox includes this as a general connection-timeout troubleshooting step.

The port range mentioned in the general article concerns Roblox connectivity broadly; it is not a demonstrated voice-specific fix, so do not change router ports just for this message unless your network administrator or Roblox Support advises it.

5. Restart the app or device only if simpler checks fail
After checking eligibility, experience support, voice controls, and the connection, close and reopen Roblox or restart your device. Roblox’s general connection and timeout guidance also mentions reinstalling the app as an additional troubleshooting measure. Treat that as a general step, not a guaranteed fix for “Voice is still connecting.”
